Ah some classic abuse on there, at times on certain repeaters the language and the people using it were worse than the folks on CB, as CB died off most of the kids and idiots went with it and you were left with people who really needed to use it like business people farmers, off roaders and enthusiasts, we all got in to ham radio to try and get away from it but many of us found it was still there, and it didnt take much for even some mature A licence ops as they were back then to just flip under even a tiny bit of abuse and start effing and jeffing and threaten to throttle folks a common tactic used when giving it the old come round my house, my address is etc was to give the address of some other ham you didnt like, to say some acted like children was an insult to most children. There still is a lot a hell of a lot of snobbery in Ham Radio sadly, bit of a golf/tennis club mentality, hardly a very good way to encourage new people in the hobby. Great video as usual mate.
Same where I live. That and the lids who think banging away on CW is a great way to attract kids to the hobby (none of whom give a rats......tail about code)
Reminds me of the old CB days, but a lot more swearing now. It was more fun when it was illegal (so they tell me lol) it was when they off loaded CBs all the idiots came out of the woodwork. The good one went and the idiots had no one to annoy, so they went as well. Now we have AM/FM/SSB and there is only one legal SSB set to be had. Not that there is anyone to talk to up here anyway!
This is so true. Theoretically, if I had been on before legalisation (😇) I would say that believe it or not it was far more civilised than when we went legal. A few years back I set up my legal cb again in the car and all you could hear on 19 was 2 local truck drivers who do a local run all day and every second word was F or C ! It was pointless. You couldn't have it on with kids or my partner in the car because of the constant use of the C and F words, and no point calling on 19 as it was blocked all day long by those guys. Took my foundation licence and fitted a 2m/70cm set in the car for my commute to work. Sadly its dead (Northumberland/Newcastle) on my commute times. In 2 months I've heard 3 conversations.
@@ChoppingtonOtter 2 meters used to be used a lot, but now it is almost as dead as CB! I was on all the "Channels we are allowed to use today! Do they go home and talk to their wives like that? Come on guys, I know some like to swear at work, but stop and think who else is on the air with you!
Sounds tame compared to what we hear in the east midlands. Funniest one I heard was the usual suspect was talking to a friend and his friend gave his address away over the air dropping him right in the brown stuff.
I recently heard something similar to this on 80m. It reminded me very quickly why I haven't tuned in the voice parts of the HF bands in years. With the exception of the SKCC chasers assuming they can transmit on "their" frequencies without checking for any traffic, it's rare for me to encounter poor-mannered CW operators.
OK please forgive my ignorance but “dogging” is a term that I don’t quite understand it here across the big pond in the United States. It’s not what I think it is is it?
It is really sad when you are so alone in your region at 11 meters CB that you have to talk to yourself. I feel for this operator because it was around that time (early 2010's when i started with CB) i know it too well, fortunately it has improved a lot here especially since the Corona stuff.
Nice video, as usual. You missed all the insanity of 14.313MHz over here in North America. I haven’t listened for a few years, but, essentially, a station here in Canada (VE7KFM) was at war with operators in the U.S. for years. Websites were created and hours of listening fun could be had. Do a Google search on his callsign, maybe it could be the subject of a video?
@@wes11bravo It was like the proverbial train wreck. And those U.S. guys could wind him up in seconds. I wonder if he's still alive? He sounded pretty old at the time, and his temperament couldn't be good for his blood pressure.
"ooh I had a handwriting expert and an audio expert ...you touched my girlfriend blah blah" ...I wouldnt be buggering about like that .. I would just go flll the fella in and stick 240v up his antenna socket on his rig
The worst I've personally ever heard, besides the vulgarity, insults & such, and I'm sure there's much worse, was some drunk on 20m who kept repeating "Sieg Heil" for about 30 minutes before he nodded off. On one of the local 2m repeaters there's a very "pro Trump" supporter who is always giving his "opinions" on that...
No, Nelle the Elephant.... That plagued the Brighton, 2 meter repeater in the 80''s for years of abuse, along with plenty of foul language. Makes what we just listened to, very plain and normal.
Dogging in Yorkshire? - just the average episode of Emmerdale
The sites he mentioned are in Leeds
The guy at 4:00 sounds like Robin Williams' impersonation of Scots from his stand-up bit on golf

The end of the first segment was punctuated by a advertisement for toilet paper.
I thought to myself, HOW APPROPRIATE...😊
Brilliant. The lad having a meltdown at the end talking to himself 🤣🤣
That Dogging one reminded me of the Peter Kay Car share You went Dogging,,, Hilarious🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Excellent.
If only Ofcom would actually do stuff nowadays.

8:15 94.5MHz on that Rohde & Schwarz is BBC Radio 4 from Whitehawk Hill transmitting site
Apparently this sort of behavior is pretty common on the UHF CB band in Australia.
It may have been shocking if only I knew what any of these people were saying.
It's a foreign language on multiple levels. 😆

when someone calls someone "boyo" things usually heat up quickly.
I remember listening to GB3SL in the early 1980s, it was all squeaky and the laughing policeman.

in the US, but no dogging talk going on.
