I'm glad that you saw that this song has a deep message, but that is actually very typical of BTS music. Lighter, more surface level, songs like "Butter" and "Dynamite" are A-typical for them. I went back to see what you've reacted to so far (JK's album aside, because while those songs are terrific and he sang them, he didn't write them. He curated the songs around a theme that he felt was universally relatable). I'll explain below why it was incorrect to say that everything you've reacted to by them so far isn't "as adult."
The BTS song "ON" actually has very adult themes. In an interview with Refinery 29, RM explained the themes of their album "Map of the Soul: 7" which includes this song: ""This album is like a big statement and declaration that we admit our destiny, we admit our shadows and lights at the same time," he said. "We recognize our destiny and all the paths."
The article later explains this specific song:
'"ON," according to the group, is a reflection of the group's 2013 single, "N.O," an intense hip-hop track that detailed the asphyxiating pressure society puts on young people to excel. It recalls the previous single in the visual's black and white color palette and its opening lines, sung by Jimin and V (as interpreted by notable ARMY translator Wisha):
"Having woken from sleep and opened my eyes, I wonder where "here" is / Perhaps Seoul, or New York or Paris / Having gotten up, my body sways."
While BTS are now in their 20s and no longer necessarily feeling the weight of academic pressure or that of the adults in charge on their shoulders, they describe a foe that, in many ways, is much more threatening: themselves."'
SUGA's (or rather, Agust D's) song "Daechwita," which you have also reacted to (and admittedly isn't actually a BTS group song), also explores adult themes, as a part of a trilogy that includes "Haegeum" and "Amygdala." While these songs were released a few years apart, SUGA mapped out the whole storyline, what he wanted in the videos through story boards, etc. back when he did it for Daechwita. In that song, he talks about his journey from having nothing to having everything - but what does he want now? Does "everything" fulfill him?
Also, WE HAVE A NEW ALBUM FROM RM COMING IN MAY!
The pre-release single for the new album is "Come Back to Me. " It drops at Midnight ET/1 PM KST on Friday, 5/10.
Right Place, Wrong Person - will be out on 5/24.
Please react to the single MV and the album (which will also have four additional MVs).

Thank you for the detailed comment OT7, I really enjoy it when people take the time out to drop some knowledge on me about a subject matter I'm not well versed in. I've been told a few times about the lyrics on their songs having more meaning than I am interpreting at first listen. My challenge is trying to read the lyrics while all of the awesome choreography is going down and special all the special effects in the background, it's sensory overload for me lol. I should probably start rewatching the videos a few time after I put out a reaction so I can concentrate more on the lyrics themselves. Thanks again for taking the time to leave me such an informed comment.
