I'm so glad I came across this. You've explained it better than any video Ice seen. I even found a pattern boy and was about to chuck the whole thing, but found this. Now I can do this! Thanks!
Before I pull out my inkle after a few months doing other projects, I watch this to clear out the cobwebs from my mind. Past time I thank you for this very clear series of videos!
Is it possible to hemstitch the ends of an inkle band? I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work but I've never seen any experienced weaver do it for inkles. Do you have an opinion on this?
Yes, I've done it a bunch of times, it's one of the techniques I cover in my new Inkle Weaving Course. kelly-casanova-weaving-lessons.teachable.com/p/inkle-weaving/?preview=logged_out
Thank you. My husband is buying my very first look for my birthday and so I'm very excited to get going. Thank you for your inspirational posts on RUclips 🙂
Kelly, I was thinking of using an inkle loom to weave narrow strips for down the front of a cardigan I want to weave from 8ply Tekapo wool. I suspect it is too stretchy for inkle loom weaving. Is that the case?
Hmm, I've seen people weaving with wool on inkle looms but haven't done it myself. Possible issues are (as you pointed out) the stretchiness, meaning your band may shrink back and pucker off the loom and also the potential stickiness of wool, as on an inkle loom the threads slide very closely past each other. See if you can find out more from others who have done it though - I can only give my thoughts but not actual experience on that one!
This is the first time I have understood how to set up my loom, thank you
You're welcome!
Thank you! This is only the second thing I've ever made and it came out beautiful! I'll definitely make it again once I work out my tension.
Fabulous, well done!
Thanks so much for explaining the warping. I don't know how I would learn all this with out you. Thanks so much for sharing.
You're most welcome, inkle weaving is just so much fun! 😄

Awesome!
Is it possible to create this sort of band on a rigid heddle loom?
Yes, you can weave bands on a RHL, you just can't get the same level of tension. Still doable though 😊

Thanks Kelly. Trying this pattern out now.
