3ds games are old enough to be cheap but not too old like ds games which have increased in price a lot . Also cool video, love to see people enjoy the 3ds!

Completely unrelated question, but how do you wear a mask and glasses without the glasses fogging up? I don't wear glasses myself but I've always thought about that lol
With difficulty lol- I move the glasses a bit further down my nose than usual and the mask slightly higher up to make a bigger gap, works most of the time
So im not exactly sure if you like the idea BUT you can technically mod or "jailbreak" your 3DS. In this case you wouldn't necessarily need cartridges if you download the games online. But the 3ds store shut down 2 or 3 years ago. So you can mod your 3ds to be able to download any game online. Many people do it and the process isn't that complicated. You just need a bigger SD card and a pc that can read and access the card. I modded my 3ds and now I have many games and cool themes.

I did get a 3DS shortly after launch, but by that time I was getting into PC gaming and online multiplayer, playing a lot more Counter Strike, Minecraft, and COD. I was at an awkward age where I started seeing the DS family of systems as being for children, or at least as more casual, and I had sort of lost interest. I ended up selling my 3DS not long after and I never got into the system that much. Now that I'm in my 20s though, my gaming preferences are way different than they were then. I play a lot more single-player games, and I mainly play RPGs. I use my PC or Steam Deck to play most games, either via PC ports or emulators, but the one thing that can't exactly be replicated are DS and 3DS titles due to the dual screens, and those systems have a phenomenal library of games. I recently picked up a "new" Nintendo 3DS XL and modded it. I have installed Mario games, Zelda games, Shin Megami Tensei IV and Persona Q, Fire Emblem Awakening, Pokemon, and various other best sellers or good releases for the 3ds platform. I also plan on going back and playing many original DS games as well from my childhood, such as Sonic Rush, New Super Mario Bros, the original version of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, Chrono Trigger, and several others. I'm very excited about it. Fun fact: In Japanese, "Shin" can mean "new", and it is often used to indicate that something has been updated or a newer version of something is existing. The Megami Tensei franchise of games is often marketed as "Shin Megami Tensei" outside of Japan, and the 2016 reboot of Godzilla was called "Shin Godzilla" in Japan. The "New Nintendo 3DS" systems are named "New" in the U.S., which is somewhat confusing or might be considered a poor naming choice to western consumers, but in Japan it would make perfect sense to prefix it with "Shin" to indicate an updated model.
@youreyesarebleeding1368 i've heard a lot about modding but no idea how to do it/ whether I would, I really like the experience of going out and getting a game I saved up for and having it physically, but also some games' price tags make them very inaccessible now that they're rare so I may cave and figure it out at some point XD But I'm very excited to play Zelda too! There are so many!! And SONIC, I love sonic but I am so bad at it (i have not beaten a single level, not for lack of trying). I would watch my brother play it and we watched all the TV shows and movies, so i'm still very fond of it despite barely having played it. But yes I've heard a lot of people making fun of the naming system- i guess people forget that it wasn't necessarily designed with english first and foremost in mind and translations alone are never able to come with the culture behind the words (even if the culture is just how video games are conventionally named, i still think that counts). W), either way uh, yeah never owned a ds til now or finished a pokemon game ever, so just finished platinum, got a shiny giratina which is like 1/8000+ on platinum and gonna continue to complete games til I get to new gen and then transfer them over :D
I'm saving up for a switch too! I'm glad that it seems they're going to be backwards compatible like the 3ds XL was with the 3ds and ds. Congrats on your Gratina! My partner loves shiny hunting but I have not caught a single shiny yet XD

I’ve been playing heaps of Pokemon Platinum on my modded New 3ds XL recently. I’ve put 80 hours into it in the past 2 weeks ahahaha
