I left the UK after a 20-year sojourn in the UK. I never for once felt comfortable there. I always knew I would return home one day. How I would return to Nigeria was not planned but in 2013, the opportunity presented itself and I left. Been here for 11 years and I have seen everything, the good, the bad and the ugly. For me, this is home. there is something here, you cannot explain about living here full time. Nigeria is a 360-degree story. it's not what is pushed on TV. Yes, some of the things you watch on TV are here but it's not all bad news. The fun you can have here is second to none. People live the life most can't live abroad. Nigeria is NOT for everyone but here is HOME. My advice to anyone is DON'T forget HOME. keep a piece of home with you regardless of where you are in the world. Come home and see for yourself. Nigeria is STILL the future regardless of what is going on now. What is happening now is the fight for the soul of Nigeria. Las las Nigeria will be great. WELCOME home summer

Thanks, Summer! I commented on a RUclips post where a lady mentioned she’s going back to Nigeria, and I advised her to make a solid plan before returning. Someone replied, saying you don’t need a plan to go back to your motherland, and I just laughed. Some people don’t even realize what it’s like to live abroad for 10 or 15 years and then suddenly decide to go back to Nigeria.
I think Summer should be employed in NIDCOM to work with A bike Dabiri on diaspora matters. She's got a good experience to counsel people on how to manage diaspora life ( staying, returning, investment among others). Keep it up you're doing a productive job.

Thank you Summer for this video. Yes, there are people rolling in money in Nigeria; the upper classes, business owners, property owners in the abroad etc. etc. Summer, each person will have their own experiences. One must PLAN! STRATEGIZE!
Thank you for your honest opinion. God bless you. But I’d like to say that what motivates one person to move back home may not be the same factor motivating others. Not everyone is motivated by financial benefits or by building & owning gigantic mansions. Many people love their peace of mind, political stability, and safe environment for their kids. And even within the context of money, many of the so called big boys in Nigeria who are “doing well” are criminals who are into all manners of corner cutting real estate and oil scandals. Becoming a very comfortable person in Nigeria comes with a lot of compromise which many people who love their dignity and integrity will never want to do. Earning your $5000 per month abroad and paying all the taxes and bills is hard, but is a decent way of living for many people. Nothing trumps peace and contentment. All the same, God bless you for your honesty. Wishing you a fabulous time in Nigeria and a prosperous shortlet business. Blessings
