Chris Thornton yes like we spent 2500 bucks in this car and that 5000$ 408 stroker motor was sent by tsp and that pro charger was sent by procharger which would be 5000$ and the car it’s self a roller Camaro and that built th 400 and then that rear end from rpm transmissions they say it ads up to 2500$ in stead of 20000$
That's exactly my goal with this project! Most of the builds you see on youtube would literally be $50,000-$100,000+ for the average person (my C6 build included) so for this I'm doing something totally different. Just like how I built my old truck 5 years ago-
My first vehicle was a 98 GMC Yukon and I loved that thing man I had a ton of aftermarket upgrades on it and, I lost it in an accident where I got T-boned. So Mike this build is gonna be close to my heart! ❤
I've had burbs, K5 Blazers and plenty of chevy trucks but never a nbs Blazer but always wanted one, people just always either thought they were worth gold or the bodies were rusted through. Great find man cant wait to see the budget build..
Way to go Mike!! You purchased my favorite vehicle I ever had, I miss it so much. A great project truck! I lifted mine 6 inches and shaved the door handles, matte black, LEDs, fender flares, moto metal wheels!! Have fun with it
It's cool to see you get so excited over a 22 year old truck when you have a $300k super car! This is why I love this channel!!!!! Cant wait to see this build!
Damn Mike... You Scored Big time! As long as the thing is not completely rotted out underneath. Perfect seller, Says the only thing wrong with it is it's a 2 door. OMG... That's what's RIGHT about it. Nice that you were able to free that man of such a burden. :)
I had a 1998 Tahoe and loved it. Move got in it and was making us sick so I upgraded to an 07 suburban. But my green Tahoe was so clean on the outside. Awesome choice Mike can’t wait to see what you do with it!
Dude the square body style is the best plus they are getting hard to find and getting expensive & harder to find parts so you got it CHEAP! Great find Mike
I literally bought my sister the same thing last week for a winter car. But hers is a 94 so it still has the stick 4wd and the older dash. Cant wait to see the build. 😬
I have the 99 tahoe but 4 door and its probly the best vehicle ive had. Ive saved a ton of people stuck in mud past there frames and with almost no effort so you got a good deal for sure. Cant find a 2 door for under 3500 in cali unless its destroyed.
I have a k1500 and you should swap out the thermal actuator on the front differential for a motorized one, when it gets really cold your truck will have problems going into 4wd. kits are 100$ it’s well worth it
I've always liked these too. If it were mine, I'd swap a 14 bolt out back and swap in a Dana 60 out front, and put it up on some 35's. It can be done cheap if you do the work. That would be amazing.
Great find Mike, that truck has 9000% more potential than the VW. The 90's Chevy trucks are slow as F*** tho. Find a used LS1 or LS2 and do a retro take on a Trailblazer SS.
You should check out Carven Exhaust. I had it on my 98 Chevrolet and loved it! For the older trucks it’s just a weld in sadly but it sounds better than flowmaster in my opinion.
Mike I had a 99 Chevy Tahoe found out the hard way because I didn't do good inspection of the steering gearbox mounting points there was hairline cracks plus little bit of frame rot this can be fixed if you had the money you might want to check yours
Do a 6inch bds lift on a 3inch body with 38x13.50R22 Nitto mts on new gears and a intake and a cam with headers and a borla muffler. Go mudding on that new land you got after.
@@brandoncaldwell95 I have a 1967 Ford Bronco with a 5.0+6speed trans manual and regears to 4.58 on 30x13.50R17x9 thing moves it only has 300k miles on we beat the shit outta it in the mud.
I had a 98 on a 4in and 35s. Out of 14 vehicles it was my favorite and I went to buy it back a few months ago and it was beat up and destroyed... and 96 and up isn’t a “blazer” they are just Tahoe’s or 2 door Tahoe’s
Once you get one thing fixed, 20 more problems will occur on that Tahoe... mines doing the same... only if you want to waist money that you’ll never get back is a good idea for these trucks.. still love them tho
Hey Mike looks like a great build but where is GRANDPA!?!? I have a 95 Vette we are fitting with twin 76mm Garrett turbos. Can't wait to see the old man again!
I used to have a 96 Silverado. That was gonna be my hotrod truck, got it from my dad. Lost it in a car accident back in 08 though, it gave its life to save mine...
Like, could you do a 454 big block swap on the tahoe? Go big block! I have one and its amazing.and it wouldnt cost that much and definitely a muffler delete
I had a white 98’ Tahoe 2 door. My mom was a dispatcher and one of her drivers got a rental car from the company to pull behind the trucks and he was going to sell it for like a $1000 bucks and my mom offered him $650 and he looked at my mom then looked at me and said here kid it’s yours I want you to have it. It was the best feeling in the world.
When I was 16 and looking for a truck to buy I eventually found a 1998 Ford F-150 on Craigslist and the guy was asking $1200. My dad and I towed a flatbed 2 hours away to look at the truck and after spending a good 2-3 hours looking it over and test driving it we decided to make an offer of $800 and the guy took it no questions asked. Probably could've even gotten it for 600. But towed it home and on the weekends at my uncles shop worked on it for about a month. Needed head gaskets, couple wheels were cracked, tires, windshield, and a bunch of smaller things here and there but overall probably in it for $1400 just getting it legal on the road and here I am 19 years old in college and it is still my daily driver. I plan to keep that truck when I can afford to buy myself a Powerstroke and part of why I'm so attached to it is because my dad and I fixed it up together and put a lot of time into it
Can it finally be a cheap build not a RUclips cheap build. We do not have sponsors just saying.

@@StreetSpeed717 i support you actually keeping in cheap man
Curious to see a properly cheap build. Cleetus, much as I love him too, tried to go cheap with Ruby and immediately ruined that plan.
Yah I just got a 97 2500 and I love it

You should trade in your girls toyota chr and buy her a new blazer lol
😣

@@aayushsharma402 lol oops I fixed it
SIZZLIN_BACON Glad to help 😂
Yep, the new RS Blazer in red is the shit.
Great choice Mike!! I have a 98 Chevy k1500 with a 6” lift on 35”s absolutely love it. Mine has the manual 4wd option though which I personally love.
Damn Mike... You Scored Big time! As long as the thing is not completely rotted out underneath. Perfect seller, Says the only thing wrong with it is it's a 2 door. OMG... That's what's RIGHT about it. Nice that you were able to free that man of such a burden. :)

I literally have the exact same 1997 Chevy 2 door Tahoe but mine is painted bud light blue and rear wheel drive because I live in Texas
Hold onto that 2wd. Gonna be worth alot of money one day! Pretty rare up here in Canada, basically unheard of.
I love 90s trucks I just got a 96 Dodge Ram
Dude the square body style is the best plus they are getting hard to find and getting expensive & harder to find parts so you got it CHEAP! Great find Mike
I think I am as excited as you are about this build...I love the Tahoe and the 2 dr has been one of my dream trucks...nice grab StreetSpeed
I got class at 8am tomorrow but I gotta get my SS717 video in 😛
Very excited to see this build. My first vehicle was a 97 black 2 Door Tahoe with the same interior as yours.
I had a 94 when it was still a Blazer. I miss it! Congrats! Can't wait to see what you're going to do with it.
I always loved the two door Tahoe; my friend has one with a 6.5l Detroit.
Congrats!!!! That is a gem for being over 20 years old!
Hell yeah im excited about the Blazer I had a 94 Yukon lifted 9 inches I miss that truck my first lifted truck mad love for the blazer☺☺☺☺
You look more excited about that Chevy than your mclaren
JusayinGamin why not
I literally bought my sister the same thing last week for a winter car. But hers is a 94 so it still has the stick 4wd and the older dash. Cant wait to see the build. 😬
2 door blazers are gettin to be rare vehicles these days congrats on it cant wait to see this build

What happened to the escape? Why did you use it?
Jeffrey's it was his grandpas. I think he gave it to another family member
yo mike i just bought my first truck, and i gotta say youre the reason i bought a chevy. got a 2013 silverado 1500 thanks for the inspiration bro
Hell Yeah!!! About time, do a In-Depth Review on it!!
I have a k1500 and you should swap out the thermal actuator on the front differential for a motorized one, when it gets really cold your truck will have problems going into 4wd. kits are 100$ it’s well worth it
Growing up my dad had 3 97s. A Tahoe, Silverado, and a sierra. Man i miss those trucks
I have one just like that! You can get the dual din dash kit on amazon and it fits perfectly. Best daily I’ve had hands down
I've always liked these too. If it were mine, I'd swap a 14 bolt out back and swap in a Dana 60 out front, and put it up on some 35's. It can be done cheap if you do the work. That would be amazing.
I haven’t watched in a while! I’m stoked for this build. Good change up!
I have a '98 Sierra that I bought new and will have it till I die...Excited to see the build....
I’m glad you bought another Chevy but you really should of bought a suburban and lifted it
Damn Mike this is exactly what I have been hoping you'd get back to man. Two big thumbs up.
I’m really excited to see what you do because I’m 17 and getting my first truck in spring, and coincidently I also will be on a budget
I have a 96 Tahoe floor shift 4wd on 33's with a 383 stroker. About to upgrade to bigger wheels and tires and 6 inch lift.
Can't wait to see this build, I bought a 99 2 door last year.
I can already see they’re gonna lift it, bigger tires, turbo, off-road top rack, new wrap, either way this build is gonna be awesome.
Great find Mike, that truck has 9000% more potential than the VW. The 90's Chevy trucks are slow as F*** tho. Find a used LS1 or LS2 and do a retro take on a Trailblazer SS.
Sweet ass deal. I'm glad it has the tailgate instead of the doors.
Forget the ZR2.
The Gladiator is coming.
Boooo
You should check out Carven Exhaust. I had it on my 98 Chevrolet and loved it! For the older trucks it’s just a weld in sadly but it sounds better than flowmaster in my opinion.
I also had a truck like that but mine was a 95 2 door Yukon GT. Bring back memories for me as well.
That reminds me of my old 98 Sierra Z71. I can't wait to see the new content on this Tahoe!!
Had a Tahoe sport back in the day came with everything blacked out from factory loved that thing
Enjoy it brother! I have a 1999 2 door Tahoe. It's a great platform.
Mike I had a 99 Chevy Tahoe found out the hard way because I didn't do good inspection of the steering gearbox mounting points there was hairline cracks plus little bit of frame rot this can be fixed if you had the money you might want to check yours
I currently drive a 97 Tahoe 2dr, love my truck, can't wait to see what you do to it 👍
Nice truck man. You should put straight pipe dual exhaust on that thing make it sound nice.
You are so lucky. Those things are so hard to find in good condition. Congrats.
Love your new truck you getting that's cool. Can't wait to see the videos you put in of what you're going to do.
Really excited about this build more than any other.
My brother had a 98 model just like this and it was amazing. I've always wanted to find one for myself but so hard to find!!!
Hell yeah man I've got a 99 two door. I'm stoked for this one!
That's not sad it takes you back to your roots!!!!
Please do a price list for when the truck is complete!
Do a 6inch bds lift on a 3inch body with 38x13.50R22 Nitto mts on new gears and a intake and a cam with headers and a borla muffler. Go mudding on that new land you got after.
Body lift, stupid. 38in youll blow the gears or trans.

Best looking thing in your stable. Of course I could be biased because I have a 96 and a 97 Suburban.

Love the OBS, looking to get a 4 door Tahoe in the future from around that year!
I’m pumped you finally got a project truck!🤗
Awesome can't wait for more. I daily a 95 Tahoe and love it.
“ItS a ClAsSiC wHaT cAn I sAy” 😂 riggghhtttt
hell ya.. them are super rare. .. I love them and that's a steal... I cant wait to see what you so with it bro...
Rough country lift and mud claw extreme m/t on stock wheels would be fun setup and cheap
Nice. Great deal. Can't wait to see more.
Please do a straight axle conversion, that would be amazing.
Love the 2 door tahoes and blazers
Great pick up Mike !! Solid looking truck mate 👍
Nice choice for the project! Do a SAS with some boggers!
Obs is a ford term for the 7.3 powerstroke trucks. The newer model powerstrokes then the old body style powerstrokes
This was my dream ride for so long. Still wouldn’t mind one to play with
I read back to my roots and was like “FUCK YEAH OBS CHEVY LETS GOOOOOOOO!” And now my toddler is awake lmfao.
I can’t wait for this build I have a 97 Silverado
Damn i remember when the Paper Shop was all we had to find vehicles back in the days i remember lol wow how far we’ve come
I like the manual 4x4 in those old trucks
Those adorable dogs made up for your hair cut. I really like the Chevy. I would like to have that truck.
It even has leather, yes! I hope you put on true dual exhaust
I used to have a 96 Silverado. That was gonna be my hotrod truck, got it from my dad.
Lost it in a car accident back in 08 though, it gave its life to save mine...
Just turned over past 300k miles on it a month prior to the accident. Still ran strong till that day.
Like, could you do a 454 big block swap on the tahoe? Go big block! I have one and its amazing.and it wouldnt cost that much and definitely a muffler delete
I'm 15 and I have a 96 single cab shortbed 1500 2 wheel drive truck and I love it so much
Now that's an actual project truck most of us can do... Keep it budget-ish friendly so it's something people can relate to.. very cool
If the 4 wheel font work its probably the actuator switch common problem with that era of truck
FYI facebook market does "search engine" Craigslist, pulls a lot of listings over..
YEEESSSSSS!!!! Love the new cheap truck build!
I’ve been looking for a solid 2 door for months...that truck is dope
Love them Tahoes , great choice!
Bout time you get something fun on the channel. Love that generation Blazer. Hard to beat the Vortec 350

Mud grapplers and some 15x15 steel wheels and a rough country lift, or some boggers👀👀👀
So jealous, awesome find man!
I was as excited as you were when this notification popped up and I saw it was a obs tahoe!
That’s going to be an awesome build man!!
