There is another frequently missed point. Yes, what I receive i is extremely important. But what about what I confetti by being there? Community implies both receiving and contributing by each member. Our prayers and encouragement to others, supporting each other in a country that is falling away from God, helps us to continue you on. Jesus constantly was telling us to look outside of ourselves to love. It certainly applies to this great celebration.

    Exodus 20:4-6
_"[4] You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in the heavens above, on the earth below, or in the waters beneath. [5] You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on their children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, [6] but showing loving devotion to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments."_
    Exodus 20:9-11
_"[9] Six days you shall labor and do all your work, [10] but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God, on which you must not do any work- neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant or livestock, nor the foreigner within your gates. [11] For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that is in them, but on the seventh day He rested. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy."_
    Jesus said:
_" ...... If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”_ (Matt 19:17)
    and
_"For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.”_ (Matt 5:18)
    and
_"But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.”_ (Matt 7:26)

Just five chapters later, God commanded the Israelites to make graven images!
“And you shall make two cherubim of gold… The cherubim shall spread out their wings above, overshadowing the mercy seat with their wings, their faces one to another…. And you shall put the mercy seat on the top of the ark… There I will meet with you” (Ex. 25:18-22).
Clearly, there is no prohibition against graven images - just against worshiping them, and you, dear Protestant, don’t get to decide what is worship and what is not. Only God can judge the heart, not you!
Just because two things look similar, it does not mean they are the same. Worshiping an idol is very different from using a statue to remind you of someone. The recent installation of a statue of Billy Graham in the US Capitol building illustrates this point for Protestants. No non-Catholic Christian is worshiping that statue, and no Catholic is worshiping a statue of St. Francis or Mary, either.

I only recently learned that missing mass is supposedly a mortal sin. But how can that be? I thought the only way to the father is through Jesus and works can't save you. Wouldn't mass attendance be works? So I can be a Catholic my whole life, believe in God and Jesus, and if I die on Monday after missing mass before I can confess, I'll go to hell? That doesn't make sense. Can you really lose your salvation that easily?

Hope this helps: the best thing to do is to talk to a priest, preferably one that respects tradition over more modern ideas. They will know how to answer. From everything I read and experienced so far I don’t think you can lose your salvation that easily. Our religion teaches us that only God knows how he will judge you and in any case also depending on how your were in other areas of your life or if you did something major like save someone’s life or led someone to conversion. It is however a sin that needs to be confessed as soon as you can 😊🙏🏻

Part of believing in God and in Christ is obeying Him. If we don’t obey Christ’s Church, how can we say that we believe in Him? I’m just saying that if God established a Church in which He would speak to us, and the Church tells us to go to Mass, I’m going to obey without a second thought. If you would like to learn more, I definitely recommend Fr. Chad Ripperger. If you want to learn about grace and works, I recommend reading the Catechism (paragraphs 1987 and onward). If you have more questions, I recommend Trent Horn. I hope I helped, God bless!

Yes, it’s a mortal sin to miss Sunday Mass if you are not sick, have transportation and physically able to go. Attending a Catholic Mass is like being invited to The Last Supper with Jesus and His apostles. At the Consecration in Mass, God opens Heaven and gives Himself to us. He said in Jn 6:51-59, unless we eat of His Body and drink His Blood in Holy Communion, we will have no life in us. We will never enter Heaven. The Catholic Mass is the only place on earth The Transubstantiation occurs. Jesus commanded His apostles to continue His offering until He returns.
John 6:51 I am the living bread, who descended from heaven.
John 6:52 If anyone eats from this bread, he shall live in eternity. And the bread that I will give is my flesh, for the life of the world.”
John 6:53 Therefore, the Jews debated among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
John 6:54 And so, Jesus said to them: “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you will not have life in you.
John 6:55 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
John 6:56 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
John 6:57 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.
John 6:58 Just as the living Father has sent me and I live because of the Father, so also whoever eats me, the same shall live because of me.
John 6:59 This is the bread that descends from heaven. It is not like the manna that your fathers ate, for they died. Whoever eats this bread shall live forever.”
Luke 22:19 And taking bread, he gave thanks and broke it and gave it to them, saying: “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this as a commemoration of me.”
Luke 22:20 Similarly also, he took the chalice, after he had eaten the meal, saying: “This chalice is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you.
1 Cor11:23 For I have received from the Lord what I have also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus, on the same night that he was handed over, took bread,
1 Cor 11:24 and giving thanks, he broke it, and said: “Take and eat. This is my body, which shall be given up for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
1 Cor11:25 Similarly also, the cup, after he had eaten supper, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
1 Cor11:26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord, until he returns.
1 Cor11:27 And so, whoever eats this bread, or drinks from the cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be liable of the body and blood of the Lord.
1 Cor11:28 But let a man examine himself, and, in this way, let him eat from that bread, and drink from that cup.
1 Cor11:29 For whoever eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks a sentence against himself, not discerning it to be the body of the Lord.

@@Tony-so1zl Do I have to spoon-feed you everything? The transubstantiation is the belief that at the Catholic mass, the officiating priest transforms the bread and wine into the actual flesh and blood of Jesus Christ. So, when you consume the wafer and the wine, you are eating Jesus' literal flesh and drinking his literal blood. You Catholics are taking part in a cannibalistic ceremony. Doesn't that bother you?

@@cbooth151 Not cannibalistic at all! It’s literally the spirit of Christ going into the bread and wine. Read the last supper accounts, Christ meant it literally. Many followers rejected this and him for it which is why I say it takes ultimate faith. The earliest Christians (who are Catholic) believed in this as well.
There’s no such thing as a Protestant, just a misinformed Catholic. The more you learn the truth, the more Catholic you become my friend

I've missed going to church for about 40 years now , I'm better in myself from giving it up , never fitted with my soul, sitting in a forest thinking about spiritual paths has expanded my mind and made me a better person 🤙🦘
