Welcome to my gravel cycling adventure along the stunning Fife Coastal Path and Fife Ness in the kingdom of Fife, Scotland. In this video, I'll take you on a 40km ride through some of the most breathtaking coastal scenery in eastern Scotland.
The Fife Coastal Path is a 117-mile route that offers fantastic opportunities for hikers, cyclists, and nature lovers to explore the beautiful coastline of Fife. Today, we'll be exploring the coastal path around Fife Ness and Crail to Anstruther.
Our journey starts at the Cambo Estate, where we'll hop on the Coastal Path towards Fife Ness. Fife Ness, also known as Rubha Fiobha in Scottish Gaelic, is a headland forming the most eastern point in Fife, Scotland. The area was once called Muck Ross, which means "Headland of the Pigs" in Scottish Gaelic. We'll make a stop to admire the lighthouse before continuing along the coastal path through Crail towards Anstruther. Fife Ness was home to a Coastguard station until 2012, and it's also home to an important Northern Lighthouse Board lighthouse built in 1975 by P. H. Hyslop to warn shipping of the headland and the North Carr shoals. The lighthouse replaced the last in a series of lightvessels that guarded the treacherous rocks, as it had proved impossible to build a permanent lighthouse on the rocks themselves.
As we head north towards St Andrews, we'll take a short detour to explore the Kenly Water by Boarhills before diving back onto the Coastal Path towards the Cambo Estate.

One of my first ever open water dives at Crail and I had the pleasure of playing with an octopus 😍

Great video Rusty, loved the drone shots of the coastal singletrack 👍
There is more good stuff on the coastal path between Kingsbarnes and Cambo and some other good stuff in land. I've got a 50km loop planned for a summer evening sometime 😎

My mate and I rode the path from Dundee years ago. I think that bit round the corner was the worst bit. I was on very ill advised 23mm tyres on the road bike.

I fancied doing the Fife costal path from the Forth up. I read someone’s description of doing it in 2016 and it seems really interesting though they did say there were a couple of bits you be better coming inland for a bit. Love costal paths the Moray one is brilliant. Fife does have some awesome roads.

If I'd known you were passing by.....
Would the MTB have been a better option for the path and more rugged bits? Asking in case my fitness levels get better

I think a bit wider tyres on the gravel bike would have done it. A mountain bike hardtail would have no issue. It's just a lot of stepped sections I found that gets a bit tedious.

Maybe you could start the advertising campaign so us outsiders can know these things too 😉
