This area of the Tarim basin I think from memory is the 3rd? ( maybe 4th) lowest point of the Earth's lithosphere, using sea level as datum/reference. The lowest is the Dead Sea and next is Death Valley (US), part of the Basin and Range province. A basin within the East African rift system in Djibouti might be next. Interesting stuff.
