Yeah but with the second one like you have to remember, they aren't trying to impersonate, they are singing in their own way which sounds pretty good, they don't always have to have a raspy voice you know
@@mr.langustinos5808 yeah, these are covers, not specifically grunge covers, just covers OF grunge songs, so they can sing however they want to and it should be judged on their performance rather than "staying true to the roots" or something you know
See grunge is quite idk diverse cuz nirvanas sound and pearl jams sound were quite different

Most people try to mimic kurt when singing nirvana songs but the second guy brought his own sound to the table, Props to him.

Both the guys that sang Plush, Smells like teen spirit and Last Kiss were amazing, covers of these songs are not usually as good, they did amazing jobs
They aren't bad vocal performances, but the problem I have is that they sound pop... they just missed the raw quality of the genera almost entirely.

@@dewey_meister95m20 The problem with the last guy wasn't so much the voice, but the pop style runs he decided to put in there for some reason. That belongs on a Maroon 5 type of song, but not in anything that closely resembles grunge.
Last kiss underated pj song and that guy killed it. It's a hard song at some points

You are correct. These are good. Which is better than Meh. but also not great performances. I felt like i was watching the top karaoke performances at my local bar.
The last 2 were good, the first 2 were bad (2nd guy would've sounded better singing a different genre). The guy who sang Stone Temple Pilots' song had a great voice but he missed all the power notes in the song.

No, I don't think that is it... at least not entirely. The voices itself do sound too pop"ish", lacking the raw"ness" that was the mark of that style.
Right. None of these had the right voice for any grunge music. Grunge had a very distinctive tone to the vocals, a very dark and depressed sound, something none of these singers had. I felt that they kind of ruined these classics.
The bands didn’t help. The Irish band played a big band version of Jeremy. Horns in a Pearl Jam song? Really?

I don't thing the problem here is sounding differently then the original, but that they all missed the grunge sound in a very similar manner and they all sounded pop(ish).
