About your dad, well older generation's thinkings are apart ..just have to guild them a little more but I find his thinking and reaction rather cute...i can see many in foreign countries with behaviours quite similer. If she's unsure if items are permissible she could tick YES. The officers are very reasonable and would go thru with u. U choose to go to the country, respect the rules or just stay home. Totally unreasonable n too entitled. I m shocked she doesn't even feel sorry, or embarrassed. Basic manners n courtesy r totally lacking. How do adults like these... teach or set an example for the younger people or is this behaviour allowed to perpetuate? Also, there is almost everything Asian u need here. No need to bring n run foul of the law. And yes, her behaviour taints other law- respecting Asians. .

其实很多老人家，不论种族或教育修养，都有那一点点的固执与不听劝。小的时候听父母长辈，大了听上司长官，难道老了还不能轮到老娘老子耍狠，自己拿主意吗？这都是一种一辈子情绪压抑所塑造出来的性格。我自个的父亲，也是随着年龄增长，性格越来越顽固。他们的举动，对某些事态的第一反应，不愿认错的蛮横性格，都会让身边的人抓狂。中国大妈，给我的感觉，其实和我所看见和接触的老人，本质其实都一样，只是中国大妈们比较大声，行为也比较戏剧化。
对！爸妈是永远不会听我们的，因为爱面子，觉得他们吃的盐比我们吃的米多，很喜欢用他们年代的经历来“指导”晚辈。需要他们自己去碰钉子才会发现他们设想行得通的路早就被堵死了。
