The hair straightener thing reminded me of how I was using my clover mini iron to straighten a vintage doll's hair: it was working great, until I decided to tighten the nut that held the ironing head in. Basically, when it was loose, the attachment wasn't coming in contact with the heat element enough to do any harm.
To use hair straightener on doll hair, the hair MUST BE WET. That's the most important part. Like not soaking wet but damp. Then use the lowest heat and straighten with swift steady movements.
You and my froggy stuff are the only people I ever watch if I want to watch doll stuff, Both of you guys personally are probably my favorite doll RUclipsrs
The part can be fixed. Glue a weft going in the direction oposite the direction of the way you wanted ti to lay. Fold it back and repeat with a second weft going the other way. Just be sure it's butted up as close as you can get to the other. One folded back the part will look neat.
@@delightfuldolls You might also wanna use mod podge instead of a hot glue gun. It sticks well, dries transparent, it won't burn you, and it won't look bulky.
I use a flatiron all the time for doll stuff, but the trick is to find one with low heat settings, and to *always keep the flatiron moving.* You clamped down on the doll's hair, and you should never do that. The flatiron should already be in motion as you gently bring the plates together, and smooth it down the length of the hair. There is no scenario where you clamp it, hold it, then drag it down the length of the hair. You should also 'clap' the plates together gently, don't exert pressure on the hair at all. I will sometimes use a comb in one hand and the flatiron in the other hand as I'm working with doll hair too, to get a good result. And of course I also use a flatiron to press doll clothing and other fabric items, because it's all the same principle. I also have a flatiron that is only for use on doll hair and clothing, I don't use it on my own hair. I keep it on the very lowest heat setting, and I leave it on the entire time I'm using it. If the flatiron is too hot to use while it's on, it's not the right flatiron for dolls.
I've used a flatiron to fix hair frizz on g1 My Little Ponies. There's a very specific temperature that won't destroy nylon hair and that's 100 to 140 degrees CELSIUS, not Fahrenheit.
The wig thing can work if you don't wanna reroot the hair. I recommend taking a look at Mozekyto and her tutorials on wigs. She goes in depth and I believe she goes over how to make doll wefts in one of her videos. If she doesn't then I know Dollightful definitely does. I'll link some in the comments.
To clean your straightener or an iron, use a fabric softener sheet on a warm iron. Watch Rodney Rainbow. He uses a straightener all the time . Max 180°
I've actually tried most of these hacks....the glitter lips actually worked for me. I don't know how, but it did. I used school glue though. I've also used a flat iron on a "Rainbow High" doll, and I didn't even turn it off! 😂 It's a wonder it didn't all burn off. Lol Great video as always! ❤
About the hair straightener the hair should be a little wet , this way it straights more easily and it is less risky . And yes you should open it for a little and then close it again. I do this all the time
When you glue hair on, you glue a weft along the entire part then fold it to the opposite side and repeat in the other direction. You should also make longer wefts. You can also make a wig cap to glue the hair on for a REMOVABLE wig.
You can still use a straightener for doll hair, but you have to be really, REALLY careful with turning it on and off. I have ended up with burning a bit of my favourite doll’s hair but thankfully it was salvageable. This method is very tricky with saran hair, best used with nylon, which doesn’t melt. At the same time, you have to go over your strands at least four times to be sure💕
Do a zigzag part to disguise the wefts! Also, the first doll would look adorable with the beanie and a couple of braided pigtails! Great video, thanks!
I love your rerooting videos. I would love it if Mattel gave the made to move dolls swappable hands. I don’t use a hair straightener for my dolls. I use a steamer. Works wonders. Yikes! Looks like Barbie chewed a box of crayons 🖍️. She is almost weird Barbie now lol.
Hi ava❤ day 4 of asking you to use my tip/hack for makeovers!: blush is cute yes but, don't always use it shading is important too! When i saw you're dang CRUSTY, MUSTY, DUSTY, RUSTY, makeup pallete😊 i saw dark shades that can be used for you're barbie doll makeup/makeovers. Shading is important for all barbies, but some of them already has some shades, and some of them already has blush, so without shade add it, without blush add it. Its to make them look ✨textured✨ and ✨realistic✨ i recommend this for tan and white and dark skinned and mixed barbie dolls, dark shades are for tan and dark skined barbies, and light shades are for white and mixed barbies. This is also used in male and female barbies like margot robbie and ryan goslim dolls. Also when is the next emily and friends episode going to come out? Not to rush you or anything😅 just asking😊 im so happy i found you're channel🎉🎉 you are beautifully made creative🥹🥹 lots of virtual hugs and hearts coming to AVAA ❤🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🩷
I always use my flat/straightening iron to straighten Barbie hair. I never turn it off, but maybe mine has a lower temperature. I put a video up on when I straightened Barbie looks, the blonde one with very curly hair. I always try on a strand of hair in the back of the neck because every dolls hair is different. Don't give up on this hack! 😍
For the hack to work in minute 9:00 you gotta use the doll with the hair wet, I used it all the time. The hair is wet so it doesn't fry off, also use the hair straightener in the lowest heat

i love it when you do these videos its like a learning moment for us all AND you for when you want a quick and easy hacks for your dolls and if you don’t want to go the long way out🤣
I believe MyFroggyStuff paints modge podge on the doll's lips, lets it dry, then paints the desired color on top. It peels right off when you're done. Don't quote me on the mixture. There's also a video she did where she mixed modge podge and paint for closed eyes and another one for contact lenses. All of which can be removed, so there's no commitment, lol EDIT: I was corrected. Elmer's glue, not modge podge. Just search her page for first hand instructions 😅
@@moonagainstnights Thanks for the correction. It's been a while since I'd seen the video and thought for sure it was the other because that what she uses for most crafts

Ok, I watched Barbination straighten hair here on YT using the iron, BUT 1) her hair was wet, 2) he applied a heat protection mask to her hair before straightening, and 3) he said you need an iron specifically that has a low setting. The glitter hack needs to be the finest glitter you can get.
i think people who use flat irons on their dolls hair keep the hair wet to protect it, its always a step they leave out when explaining how to do it ive noticed. its very crucial idk why so many dont explain that part.
I use the flatiron all the time. I spray the dolls hair with a conditioner water mixture first. Makes a satisfying hiss when you do it. Also I use a ceramic plated flatiron. I keep the flatiron on and never have a problem as high as setting 3. And like another person said, keep it moving.
Ok so this is the video I first wached on your channel and I forgot about ALL my barbie dolls and you inspired me to touch them again and also I have been making super cute diy outfits for them 😊 thank you ❤
I have done the hands swap often. The wig one though I have done the glue on to the head but with other glue and there is a way to make the part better. It can look good but not a recommendation if you want to change your doll’s hair style as it’s more a glue done in a certain way for different styles thing. Not my favorite but works for certain styles. Thanks for sharing!
For changing the lip colour/adding sparkle to the lips, you can use glossy craft paint that has shimmer/glitter to it and then top it with a coat of duraclear varnish. Nail polish tends to yellow over time and also is more prone to cracking. But with the duraclear varnish, the paint will have enough flexibility to be less likely to crack on the soft squish of the vinyl (aside from any full on head smooshing, of course)
Once, I was experimenting with dying doll hair... the colour was supposed to be brown but came out red. Doll hair disasters are completely relatable! (but very annoying)
