They are a lot of fun to work on and so responsive! I'm glad you have one as well. Thanks for checking mine out, and for the kind words much appreciated!
Great vid.So much fun watching them come back to life, like it's being reborn..haha I remember my first 240z almost 30 years ago, rebuilding the motor and restoring it brings back memories for sure. I still have one today, great cars .thanks for sharing.
Nice job - Was my first car in 1980 - rebuilt from the ground up - Just watching you all inside the engine bay (harnesses / horns / cam spring) brought back allot of bitter sweet memories - The dual/twin carbs were a bugger to keep synced - Could see that on first firing :) (some things, never change eh) ... Wish I'd hung onto mine now - Had the same alloy mags - but was silver - May have to find another to rebuild now - lol - Enjoy!
Absolutely beautiful 260Z! It always thrills me to the the L26 going back in cars this nice, I did inside when I see a restored Z with a V8 swap. I just rescued a 280z from a junk yard and getting it back in running condition, it will eventually get a restore.
+overthetopblues Thanks bro as I said I miss mine 235 60 16 tires and 400 watt Fosgate amp sound system with 12 inch Fosgate sub and 4 pairs of 2 wayCanton German made speakers it rocked and these is back in late 80s ,Good job enjoy it and have fun
God damn that car is cool. My father used to have one of these before I was born. He told it was loud and everyone wanted to race him because of that.. I couldn't imagine it was that loud. And cool.
I didn't have to do anything to the body...however you could check with the Z Club of BC, thats probably a good place to start! Good luck, and thanks for watching my video! :-)
WOWIEEEE!!!!! What a great video!!!!! What a great car!!!! What a great job!!!! What a great life!!!! Thank you for sharing. The boys are going to die when they see it!!! AYE MAY ZING!!!!!!!
Nick Alvarez Thanks for the kind words! I will say that the cost of rebuilding this Z, was far outweighed by the absolute thrill when she fired for the first time! :)
Yes a 280Z built in 11/75 ;) They're real head turners, almost timeless classic design. People approach me everywhere I go to talk about my car. I see people next to me at red lights taking pictures. People honking at me as they pass by. A brand new Mustang can't do that; it's pretty incredible really. A few tips from my own xp: Be careful with carbon build up from "short tripping". Use a fuel additive like Gumout full time. Have you tried NGK V-power plugs?
Sounds like you have a awesome Z and they do turn heads for sure! Yes I do use a fuel additive, no to the V power plugs. I'll try them next season! Thanks for the comment and for watching my video! :-)
Sorry, I missed your post! If you like getting dirty, if you like spending countless hours dreaming and working on a classic piece of art, and if you love the way that Z makes you feel when you look at it...then yes I would say buy it, and never look back!!! :-)
6 to 2 headers with a twin tip of some unknown make..came with the car! Than I changed it to a 3' Magnaflow turbo, which was deeper and more ominous! ;))

No, thank you! I really enjoyed seeing this video. I was always so curious how the car was like.
I have owned five 240's and the mechanical noise from the valvetrain sounds fairly normal for a new engine start up. Nice video.
Thank you...my Son and I are enjoying the Datsun...quite a car!
Watching this reminds me of regretting selling mine. Great car.
Well, now you can buy mine!! :)
Always liked those 260s!

Best of luck on the trade, these old Datsun Z's are awesome cars!

Hey this is a beautiful car. Would u happen to know if it is a early 260z or late 260z
How much does an engine rebuild like that cost, if you don't mind me asking? Awesome car!
Nick Alvarez Thanks for the kind words! I will say that the cost of rebuilding this Z, was far outweighed by the absolute thrill when she fired for the first time! :)
No problem, I have a late 260z I plan to fully restore

Hi there, just wanna know where do you get your 260z body restored in BC?
Thanks!!! Fun car's thats for sure!
What engine is that?
Beautiful
Hey I could buy a 74 260z for $800... motor is running and but the body has some rust with no paint. Think it would be worth it?
A month later, but I hope you bought it.
Sorry, I missed your post! If you like getting dirty, if you like spending countless hours dreaming and working on a classic piece of art, and if you love the way that Z makes you feel when you look at it...then yes I would say buy it, and never look back!!! :-)
How much did the engine cost you? $
nice car man
Does the car still have a choke lever?
Yes, it does!
Yep had one just like it except a 280
Nice!
Thank you :-)
🚀
What size wheels and tires did you have on her?
They were the stock 14' wheels, tires were 195/70R14
They look really good for stock wheels. I have steelies on mine, 14" as well. Hope to get her going good this few weeks!
Sounds kinda noisy,,,you better get those valves adjusted!
What kind of exhaust is that?
6 to 2 headers with a twin tip of some unknown make..came with the car! Than I changed it to a 3' Magnaflow turbo, which was deeper and more ominous! ;))
overthetopblues Yeah, it sounds much deeper than most Datsun 240/260/280s, thanks for the info!
