Something that people do not understand is the thing that Hurrem is not a villain, but she is not a good character too. Same as Mahidevran Sultan. Mahidevran was unlucky sultana. Hurrem took Suleyman from her, and made them enemies. While Mahidevran tried to kill her, and that is not even the worse from her ( because Hurrem did the same thing to Firuze and Isabella), because she tried the same with her kids, while Hurrem never did that, but in he end, we know that she would kill Mustafa, she wouldn't care if he would be a danger to her kids. At the same time, Suleyman was the baddest. As he didn't stand up for Mahidevran, he didn't for Hurrem to REALLY protect her. They are even, while Sultan is the fire they are playing with. The only difference is that Hurrem was more clever and always knew how to protect her family and win in the end.
Remember mahidevran once said that hurrem and ibrahim have the same characters - that’s why they couldn’t stand each other.
They were not totally same. Ibrahim's ambitious didn't hurt anyone but himself. But hurrem ruined everyone around her.
