@@froman0069 i put off ball pest on gold it really makes them stop or take them time to get to their spot i have 70 strength on my lock to. Also i have 36 defensive badges
If you use those controls when hand checking was still allowed, you can force opponent to the non-dominant side more effectively AKA the "Force Jordan Left" method.
L2 and hands up used to be way better on defense, this year I get stuck in a blow by animation so easy that’s it’s almost better to not use them at all. If you use L2 and hands up it will be a late close out on the shot and if they fake a pass or shot or size up it’s a blow by unless you perfectly time when to use it so it’s almost better not to press it.
What’s up Tutes, I’m a Lock and I think the right stick is helpful. Honestly any Defensive Mechanic in this game is helpful seeing as Offense is so much more powerful. I use the Left Trigger and Right Stick at the right moments for better defensive positioning and contest. Also if you hold the Right Stick down you hold both your hands in the air, works to deflect passes and contest paint shots too.
Get more pokes.. also flicking will trigger a steal animation. Also if opponents driving into paint you will ride the hip and will give your big man a better block attempt (bicycle built for2)
Not sure how’d he check this bc the attributes don’t show up for animation unlock purposes unlike how it use to back in 2k20. This along with skill boost are 2k mysteries and we’re left with just “trusting” 2k
I’m curious, when a defender is on the left-, or right of corner of the shot-taker, will left and right defence have a bigger impact on the shot challange, compared to hands-up. If defender is within Blinders area, will left or right stick work better compared to hands-up within deadeye area?
I can flick from up to the right or left to deflect a pass if they decide to pass & still be there if it's a pass fake as compared to trying to steal or deflect a pass with the X/Square to where if it's a fake there if they go opposite direction if theres no help quick 1st step & clampbreakers make it an easy blowby because you're off balance. & some passes you have to attempt to deflect because if you don't it's an easy bucket because sometimes your teammates get beator end up out of possession or are just straight selling if you run with randoms in Rec like most of us.
It’s Best Use Is For If You’re Guarding An Amazing Offensive Player & You Get On Him & Deny Him The Ball Especially For Good Shooters In The Corner. Great Video!
To stop rim run..use L2 while moving left-stick diagonally toward the rim (not straight left or right). You may have to us L2+R2 if you need the extra speed to beat the ball-handler to the spot.
I wonder if you flick the stick to where the ball is being passed, if it will work better than pressing the steal button. Like if someone is cutting from left corner and the ball is being passed, flick the stick left to get the steal instead of pressing X/Square. I wonder if there is a higher percentage of steals that way.
From what I’ve experienced over the past 3-4 2Ks at a 70+ win%, the right stick gets much fewer on ball fouls but it seems that the timing has to be better on both lanes & plucks as the missed steal attempts seem to keep you in animations longer. Not sure why as it seems like it’s the same swipe animations if you try it offball. I use “seems” a lot because I have no actual solid proof of this
@@jacknissen6080 I agree with you & would add that if ur going for a passing lane steal always hit the steal button bc the right stick slows u down a lot. If I'm off ball & denying a great offensive player who's standing still that's the only time I'll use the right stick to deflect a pass. Last yr was a lil dif but not this yr.
Yes and no. This plus strength and clamps can force hip ride animations forcing out of bounds frequently. Some times a blocking foul triggers as well for some strange reason
Bro , can we talk about If Limitless Takeoff is useless or not ? Seriously, ive 5-6 builds maxed Using Quickdrops , Lebron with 85 or MJ above 88, Clyde , Pippen and i think one of the tomahawks. So on ALL builds the Core Badge Progress so small , it looks like wasted badge points. Before i make my last build , i would love to hear some serious Opinions from you and the com.
It activates just not as frequently bc those animations already launch you from pretty far. Best spots are from FT line length from any attacking point. Some times on fast breaks i hit up on my stick once i hit the 3pt line
hof limitless takeoff only activates about 14% on wide open dunks. in my experience slithery is FAR better. like head and shoulders above. prioritize that over limitless.
I can only go for RAW tips like these ones though...if you are looking for ACTUAL guarding skills, try to look for creators like BEARTHEBEAST, JOE KNOWS or probably LAKERFAN
So essentially you need a pro controller with the back buttons mapped for steal input. Obviously because you can’t have your thumb on right stick and steal at the same time.
Based on my experience right stick UP, left, and right will do the same thing when you do it off-ball....not like On-ball where side will have difference
DO you think it is USEFUL?
yes nice video i was always curious about hands out function
I hope you keep going down this 2k tip route it is very interesting
I use it all.the time. I'm a lock down with it. Even if your guy isn't that good defensively ..use off the ball pest ..and you are a demon

Should of covered with players driving while hold the right stick

Do you mean the "Force Jordan left and let Mahorn or Laimbeer smack him" method?
@@nba2ktutes Well... Chuck Daly (RIP) knew he likes to drive right, but by that point in Jordan's career, it isn't as effective as it used to be.

Agreed , deadass used to be in the hole holding l2 and right stick up and ppl will run around me then go right up with me standing there 😂
True asf I saw a comment like this on the hands up defense video and stopped doing it, haven't been getting that dumb animation either
It’s Better To Free Sprint Then Hold L2 As They Change Direction
Yep clampbreaker animations. It's better to play someone back (if they're driving) and meet them at a spot with L2 R2 and LS/RS
It’s useful for off ball defense. It changes the angle of the pass and catch animations of the receiver

I use them all the time it does help with tips in passing lanes. And if you have Challenger on you get a red contest almost every time
It is also good for forcing your opponent which way you want them to go. I use it to block off the baseline and force them middle typically
Hey tutes can you test gym rat badge if the attitribute boost works?

@NBA2KTutes does hands out slow down side to side movement as much as hands-up does?
I forgot which 2k but in the mid 2000s one 2k had it where you could really really lock someone down with right stick.
No one has perimeter defensive progression they relay on the big to bale em out on drives. It comes down to IQ
@1:34 Why not just flick the stick to steal? Also have you done videos compairing using the stick to steal vs the button? Great video
L2 and right stick side to side is used to cut of lanes as u said. It works very well with off ball pest badge on a high level
For me it helps with deflection
thanks for sharing!
When you body up on the defender and do this it can get strips but it will also leads to fouls
Try this against a good squad and u getting cooked this does not work against comp yall😂
On ball. Left and right on right stick seems to make the passer throw less accurate and more intercepted passes.
Yo wassup tutes could you do one for backdown punisher vs brick wall? I really need to figure this one out for my inside big
Can you check if fast twitch/rise up works on driving dunks?
fast twitch activates on driving dunks but not rise-up. (posterizer/driving dunk = rise-up/standing dunk.)

I just realized you never made a corner specialist video. Can you make one. I know 2kalbs made one but just curious if you research aligns with them.
It can deflect passes.......sometimes it'll bounce off your hand

Good against rim runners

Flick the Right stick instead of square/X to reach for the pass saves you from dropping your hands.

Hey tutes can you see what makes the green window on floaters because idk if its layup or close shot 🤔
Close shot if it’s close to the basket, mid-range if it’s farther away.. that’s as per Mike Wang
Works with masher

If u flick tht stick u can contest and steal
Even block shots if u tall enough
