It isn't a "random glitch" holding the sleep/wake button down will make it restart, if you want to turn it ON when it is already off, you just need it hold it down for a second, then release.

You keep holding the power button too long which triggers the power down feature the HTC's have. Learn your HTC before you call it crap. The flashing lights tell you how much flashes before it powers down, When you hold the power just hold it until you feel the vibrate

When the buton blink , it starting the reset proces ( I have the bouth of them and the one v is much quicker than one s at startup but the 8ne s have gooder gaming experience
HTC one v is the cheap version of them all like how the galaxy ace has an y. HTC on s is built for the speed and multitasking. And the one x is porn I.e built for the looks

Also, if you want to force a hard reboot, remove the antenna cover which creates a short in the circuit connection.
