Hillariously whenever a canucks game goes into Overtime I usually go to sleep, because I like to be excited to find out the day after to keep my adrenaline. But the avs game I didin't I turned it off after the penalty and knew we lost. I love the canucks but I hate the refs. It was a great game. 3-2 against capitals 3-1 against sabers

That was one of the most frustrating games I’ve seen the Nucks play. We blew a 3-0 lead over to a team who’s .500 on the road and played the previous day. We got into penalty trouble (yes some were soft but still penalty trouble), and then Soucy for the second time this season launched the puck out of play sealing the loss.
Soucy had a complete loss on the situation. He had to know there were less than 10 seconds left. Why did he choose to go up the boards? All he had to do is stop and, perhaps, turn around and make his way behind the bet. Just complete brain fart.
Great game! The Caps are fighting for a playoff spot so the Canucks better be prepared to play hard for 60 minutes and I am hoping for a 5-4 Canuck win. And please get the power play going.

Yep, when they got that powerplay mid-3rd I was thinking "this is one of those score-or-die situations in disguise," and the Avs mounted a beautiful PK topped off with that amazing save. Not to say I didn't believe in the boys to the bitter end (when Soucy took that penalty), but the significance of that moment was immediately clear, and the Avs were able to ride its inertia to the OT win. If there’s a referee problem, it’s hockey overall, not just the NHL. Every league in the world, every level of play, every tournament both national and international, every season, there are always deep problems with refereeing. We don’t need “better” referees, we need a revised refereeing system. An additional referee role? Or one more person for the two roles that already exist? Off-ice referees? I don’t know what the solution would be, but there’s no way this refereeing problem is so ubiquitous just because of bad referee individuals. It's the refereeing system at this point.

My take on ref issue is why they would ignore some of the penalties when they are actually looking at the specific play. The penalty MacKinnon drew, people can argue the stick was high and touch his hand but it was lifted by MacKinnon
I think it’s an issue with video review. In the moment, I’m sure it looked like a genuine penalty (otherwise the refs wouldn’t have called it). There needs to be a ref watching the game on a screen somewhere who can quickly correct any wrong calls.

Then can radio into the refs and tell them about a missed call or to upgrade or downgrade a penalty. Ross Coltons goal was scored after he was tackled and she the guy was still on his back while he was laying on the ice. No referee's arm went up. And the call on the hook on Mackinnon came after two blatant trip were not called. So, yeah, not the greatest refereeing.

We've gotten them on hot mics talking about getting make up calls and revenge calls on more than one occasion, among other things. Let alone the fact that they let blatant slashes and things go in every single game, as you said. They are objectively not even trying to do their jobs properly. It is correct to call them out for it.

Basically every game ends with both teams having similar or the outright same amount of penalties called on them too, so it's not like dirty teams actually get punished any more than clean teams. I'm not having it. No other major sport has this problem with their officiating, and when they do then they hold said officials responsible. The NHL is an actual joke in this regard.
Ross Coltons goal was scored after he was tackled and she the guy was still on his back while he was laying on the ice. No referee's arm went up. And the call on the hook on Mackinnon came after two blatant trip were not called. So, yeah, not the greatest refereeing.

As an Avs fan ill say dont worry too much about this loss, going down 2-0 only to cone back and win is just becoming a habit for us, the Canucks are still a very good, young team. About the refs i will say, get used to it. Your team will have to learn to play through alot of garbage to win it all, especially against Vegas
