A family prepares for an impending yet delayed marriage alliance. Shekhara, the groom, is growing older, while the girl, Pushpa, doesn't conform to conventional beauty standards. Both families quickly agreed on the alliance and set a wedding date. However, just days before the wedding, the groom's family unexpectedly rejects the alliance without a clear reason. After much persistence, Shekhara admits he has concerns about Pushpa's legs. Pushpa's mother, Kamala, decides to confront this injustice rather than accepting fate. She arranges a meeting to challenge the allegations against her daughter's legs, which escalates into a heated conflict with Shekhara. In a surprising turn of events, Kamala's actions shock everyone, but Pushpa remains composed throughout the ordeal.

ಕ್ಲೈಮ್ಯಾಕ್ಸ್ ಅರ್ಥ ಇಷ್ಟೇ. ಈ ಹುಡುಗಿ ಆ ಹುಡುಗನಿಗೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪನೂ ಇಷ್ಟ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ... ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ ಅವಳ ರೂಪ.
ಆದರೆ ಆ ಹುಡುಗ ಈ ಹುಡುಗಿಗು ಇಷ್ಟ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ ಮದುವೆ ಆದ ಬಳಿಕ ತೋಟದ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಬಂಧನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳೆಯಬೇಕಾದ ಭೀತಿ.
ಅವಳು ರೂಪವಂತೆ ಅಲ್ಲದಿರಬಹುದು. ಉಳಿದ ಯಾವುದೇ ಐಬು ಅವಳಿಗಿಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವುದನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಲೆಂದೇ ಅವಳ ಲಂಗವನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ನಮಗೆ ತೋರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ... ಇದೊಂದು ಧೈರ್ಯವಂತ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನವೇ ಸರಿ... ಕೊನೆಗು ತಾನು ಮುಕ್ತಳಾದೆ ಎನ್ನುವ ಕಿರು ನಗು ಹುಡುಗಿಯ ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಡುವುದು ಅದ್ಭುತವಾಗಿದೆ... ರೋಗಿ ಬಯಸಿದ್ದನ್ನೇ ವೈದ್ಯನೂ ಹೇಳಿದ ಅಷ್ಟೇ...

The reason behind refusing to marry the girl is quite confusing n on what basis did he reject her as he did not see her walk even for a bit long. This part hs no clarity.

The man cancelling the marriage on flimsy grounds and making false allegations against the girl is very degrading. It shows his narrow-mindedness and chauvinistic mentality. Not accepting this humiliation meekly, the girl's mother confronting the man is commendable. The girl should have slapped the man when he was insulting her and walked out. But in the end, the look on the girl's face even as her dress was lifted was puzzling. To me, it reflects her high self-esteem and don’t care attitude. It did not appear to have anything to do with ‘liberation’ as the title suggests.
Anyway, it is a thought provoking film depicting the hurdles faced in a middle-class family in marrying off their girls, with good script, nice acting, and strong message to women to not put up with injustice and fight for their dignity.

The boy didn't show any enthusiasm seeing the girl but still agreed for the marriage, believing he is doing her some favour. He was neither open minded enough to reject her. So he blames her, even without caring for the after effects. But the girl is bold & free, nothing to hide. Vocal chiding or slapping would have reduced the humiliation of the boy. Her silence and the wry smile speaks volumes about her character.
Mukta , here can be understood as open, more so as, she has proved herself, now the boy should suffer the humiliation.
