The bread is the least misplaced ingredient in that tarator. Onions? 6:20 Potatoes? My man is eating a monstrosity!

Yeah! What was that? As a Bulgarian if someone gives me this tarator I will return it the first 1/10 of a second

That isn't chilli sauce. There is no chilli in it. It is lutenitsa. It has tomatoes, peppers and sometimes aubergine (eggplant). As well as some spices and other things.
You should have tried the kebabche with the lutenitsa. Not just the bread. The chips (fries) are also amazing with lutenitsa.

Sometimes there is chili in it. Some lyutenica is spicy. That's where it gets it's name from after all.

The Bulgarian lutenitsa they sell here in Melbourne is very very chilli

Tarator doesn't have croutons or onions inside and this one looks like it' s too diluted, it needs more yogurt...some chef decided to be fancy with a traditional dish.Usually it will be with garlic and crushed walnuts.

Hey man! Good video but they did you dirty with the Tarator :D, we don't have croutons on top of it. It is overcomplicated :D. Next time you should try shkembe chorba (another soup- tripe soup) with vinegar and some chilly/spices, banitsa, Guyvech, Musaka, lozovi or zelevi sarmi and maybe kiselo mlqko (our milk with bulgaricus bacilicus), turshia, printsesa (literally called princess,) popara, topcheta soup. I know I went overboard :D.

Tarator is amazing for those scorching summer days when you're too exhausted to even eat a meal from the heat 😅
That is the weirdest tarator I've seen, did it have potatoes and onions in it? It's only supposed to be yogurt, water, cucumber, garlic, dill and maybe walnuts.
Мляко с ориз (what they called the rice pudding) literally means milk with rice.

That's the most disgusting rendition of Tarator I have ever seen! The authentic version is definitely not "bland," and we never add croutons on top!

People in Bulgaria when making a homemade tarator dont even eat it as a soup. We drink it instead of water when eating chicken rice for example

Almost nobody puts bread in tarator. We don't count it as a soup. I appreciate whoever made it remembered to put a dill, it's a perfect for tarator. Hope you still enjoy it, despite that fact. About the rice pudding - Make sure it's cold, not warm. It taste way better when it's cold, trust me.

I still haven’t watched the next videos maybe you’ve tried the original one but tarator is just cucumber dill water garlic yogurt and some people like walnuts the one you got is something even I’ve never heard of 😅

Kebapche`s spices are only salt, black pepper and cumin (no one puts dill). Never seen bread in tarator - this is shit.

8:03 That's mlyako s oriz (milk with rice) and it has sugar, cinnamon. One of the best home made deserts from milk, alongside with gris.

Algafari actually makes the best shawarma in Sofia, despite the fact that his small shop looks unappealing and unpretentious on the outside.
Only when the owner is there, though xD... Otherwise the quality quickly drops (to a level that's still reasonably good).
Most of the staff are middle eastern, in fact the newer guys don't speak any Bulgarian at all, and the place mostly serves the Arabic-speaking refugees who are housed in the area. Marie Louise blvd is not much of a main street, but you got lucky with that place.
Also the tarator was an absolute abomination, and it had nothing to do with the real thing.

Tarator IS for the summer. The red stuff may be called Lutenitsa, but it is made of sweet pepper, so it is not spicy

bro what kind of insane tarator was that, there's maniacs that put even walnut in it, but traditional tarator is yogurt, water, cucumber, garlic and dill

  • @BlazeCarlton

Such a poetic way to describe lyutenitsa! Also they did you dirty with the tarator, honestly you can look up a tarator recipe and make it yourself, I guarantee you it'll turn out better than the tarator they served you.

Yes it is, it's a regional food. Just like baklava which by the way was first made in Ukraine. 😊
