    Thank you for doing such a great job presenting the SHT. Northern Minnesota is a spectacular recreational area. Grand Marais and the Gunflint Trail is my favorite in any season. Those shelters you ran into are used by cross country skiers as warming huts in winter. The rock you see is the oldest exposed rock in the world - a good companion to the largest fresh water lake in the world. A best kept secret ...until now. We LOVE our visitors!

    Great video. You nicely captured the various types of terrain found on the trail. I also liked your shot at the start / end of the trail on the 270 degree overlook. I'm still a couple of section hikes away from getting there.

    Will, thanks for the video, it was great to relive my trip vicariously through yours. I ran into you guys around Lutsen, I was the guy with the Zpacks bag attempting an FKT (I was successful). I am glad you liked the trail so much. I agree, south of Fors Rd seems a bit pointless,I wish they would have just ended out there and called it a day. south of Duluth gets pretty epic though, and stealth camping is pretty easy through that section. Can't wait for your next video. Cheers!

    The brown is caused not by dirt or mud usually, but by tannin from vegetation. This is very characteristic of the Lake Superior region Notice that it is brown but clear.. Enjoying your vídeos!

    We really enjoyed watching your hike, over the years we have done many of these sections, including south of Duluth. You may have been surprised how scenic and nice it is all the way down to J.Cooke state park. You are correct though there is more to see up north(east)... fall is the best time for views of the big lake! Great video.

    You are welcome for the Powerade! When Ragged and I saw the trail magic there were two small Gatorades left so we drank them. Just happened that our other friend met us at that trailhead and I had to take his car into town to get more dog food. I decided to buy that Powerade to replace what we drank and pay it forward. Glad I did. Thanks for the videos!

    Man what a awesome trip, thanks for sharing.
    Hay Will, I have a couple questions about that pack. I'm thinking about getting one for my wife, is it available with "ladies" style shoulder straps? Also, I have a Arc Blast and I'm curious if it's highly water resistant like the Arc Blast or is a pack cover needed?
    Thanks for any help you can give.

    • @RedBeard0924

      Th3ophilus it was packed we camped up top. People hiked into the area as late as 2 am. We got up real early and left while the 30 people who camped in the area was still sleeping.

    Nice video thanks. There is not a lot of information about the SHT. I have the official guide that the trail organization puts out but not much information about resupply points. Could you post those or point me to a good resource?

      RJ Scan we just literally used google earth and google maps and planned town stops from there. We stopped from north to south at Grand Marais, Silver Bay, Two Harbors then Duluth.

      Well working for/with Z-packs isnt the worst job to have as a hike addict. These trips are tax write offs rights? "Work related" expenses. Thanks for all the videos. I know how much time/energy it takes to keep up with them.

    When you mentioned the new type of carbon fibre stays on your pack are you referring to the rod type as opposed to the flat ones? I bought a couple of arc hauls this spring and they have the rods. How much arc do you put on your pack?

    • @RedBeard0924
      @RedBeard0924  8 лет назад +1

      +Tom Henderson yes just the round vertical stays. The flat horizontal stays work perfectly. If you want to switch to our new round vertical fiberglass stays just email us and we will ship some out to you. I put a ton of arc in my pack with the new stays probably about 3-4 inches.
