Having had this machine for a little while it’s a real disappointment to be honest. On paper it’s a great machine but in reality it’s mediocre. Lots of grounds make it into the cup, pods get destroyed and stuck easily. Better sticking with the Nespresso own machines.
Try Lungo capsules from Colonna. They're designed to put more water through without being over extracted, so you end up with a circa 60g espresso without adding water after the extraction. JP
I think as soon as you are adding in scales and faff then the essential idea of the simplicity of using a pod machine is lost. I would only buy one for the "lazy" procedure of popping in a pod and pushing a button (I am currently a full coffee nerd using both a Niche grinder and a Sage BBE or a Hario switch for filter). This seems to be the least expensive way of getting close to "proper" coffee with no faff.

@@TheCoffeeChannel Sorry I forgot to update this, I found a torx head and was able to dismantle it last night, it was full of dried coffee ground which appeared to be blocking a mechanism so a brush and a hoover cleared it. After reassembling it worked again and I flushed it with two tanks. The water was fairly murky as I had neglected to clean it but by the end it was nice and clear and the machine is running fine again. It's now a spare as I panicked and bought the new L'Or Philips coffee machine which is infinitely better than the Doreen! The crema is almost like a Guinness head, amazing! They seem to work well but I’m not 100% sure I like the lack of body - it’s not quite espresso.
It's a different kind of drink really - more like a lungo in texture. Still tastes good, though.

I have this machine but can’t drink neat espresso as too strong. I add a bit of water but finding it a bit tasteless. Any tips how to avoid this?

You only need to use the scales to set up the volumetrics - after that the machine gets close to the right dose without the scales.
Any idea why mine has a red light and makes a really loud noise without producing any coffee? :(

Are you not getting any water through, or is it a blockage at the capsule container end?
