In fact, as I recall the biggest difference between the original and the Hollywood remake is the ending. Predictably, the Hollywood version is more upbeat. I was surprised that Christie did not utter the one word that sums up what The Vanishing is about: obsession. The male lead (Keifer Sutherland in the remake) becomes so obsessed about the desire to know the details of what happened to his wife that it is his downfall.
So I'll play and recommend The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Last week I went back and rewatched this after having not seeing it for a number of years and now I'm patiently waiting for a 4K UHD disc of the film.
Just once it would be nice for Matt to select a video pick that was not a Star Wars or superhero movie. Matt, comic books are not the only source material for film.
“ The Vanishing “ is amazing. It’s excellent!
If you saw the American version, don’t let that deter you!
Glad to know it’s available on: Amazon!
Smashing Time is AMAZING!
The vanishing is brilliant. The ending will destroy you

Wild at Heart finally on blu-ray! Woooooot!!!
Nancy Travis was the female lead of 1993's "The Vanishing" NOT Sandra Bullock! I agree with Alonso, "Smashing Time" is wonderful & so much fun!
