It was always a delay tactic used by trump's lawyers. They know taking official documents out of the WH when you're no longer president isn't "official" and is criminal. They know inciting riots or violence and refusing to concede an election is not "official". They know he can't be immune from prosecution. Remember, he had lost and was refusing to do a transfer of power. Claiming election fraud isn't an "official act". To do that legally, he would've had to go through the process of transfer and then pursue... which also would mean he wouldn't be protected under official acts.
This is a ruling for all Presidents, not just Trump.

Clarify whether this covers the PAST or only goes forward. Also, Joe Biden is covered by this.
If Congress passed a NEW law- it becomes the law on a (usually future) date certain and only applies going forward. SCOTUS is not writing new law- they are INTERPRETTING what the existing law is. Thus, it applies to all issues- outstanding AND moving forward. Presidents Trump, Biden and all future will have this kind of immunity relating to "official" acts.
Biden is the President, so yes, and he should do away with all of them. If I were the President, I would. It's the only way to stop this country from becoming a Christian Nation.

There is very little that a president does that isn’t considered official act. Even when a president takes notes on a napkin that has to be put into the national archives 🤣…because it’s official.

So this is effective retrospectively? IT WAS NOT THE LAW when Trump did everything he did. He should be responsible for what the law was when he was in office and knew he didn't have immunity.
