i love to watch the marc shows ,i remember watching them back in 77 and they still look as good today as they did then ,i loved teri scobles dance troupe on the series ,hearthrob ,isobel was a very good looking lady in the troupe
Awww Marc, what's not love about him. We all know this gets ridiculed but he was having so much fun. We all do the same thing in front of the mirror but he got to do it for everyone on T.V. "Let's Dance" is the best bit!!! lol
chrisedelic77 Speak for yourself. You might do that in front of the mirror but some of us are sane. Weirdo. If I was to do it in front of the mirror, I wouldn't act like a big queen.
Yeah, but the NY Dolls really had no impact outside of NY. They just didn’t make it. Whereas Marc and Bowie were huge in the UK. Bolan had one big hit here as well as Roxy Music. Bowie was big everywhere.
@@dynjarren8355 A lot of the UK punk bands were huge Dolls fans(Clash, Gen X, Undertones, Pistols etc). They didnt sell for shit but they influenced two major music scenes in 2 different decades.
@@tcduzit9694 Thats true! I think it was because Johansen was a poor man’s Jagger. He was like a less talented pale imitation and the lipstick and high heels just looked silly.
Hawkwind at 20:25 !!! Robert Calvert appears to be playing Marc's Gibson Les Paul Standard. Marc also lent his guitar to the guitarist in Generation X, who also appeared in the series. Marc went out and bought the guitar when his Standard was stolen. That guitar had been nearly destroyed at an airport. Marc saw it happen. He had the neck replaced with one from a Les Paul Custom.
I had a wine red Gibson Les Paul like Marc's. Mine was ~1978 and it was heavier, with different wood and pickups. Bass player Herbie Flowers played bass on Bowie's Space Oddity and Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed, among others. He was an old rival of Marc's and kept T Rex off the number 1 spot in January 1971 with a song he wrote called Grandad, sung by Clive Dunn of Dad's Army. He got the two note "Grand-dad" tune from a door bell he heard. Ride a White Swan never made it to no. 1 because of him.
Wish I grew up in London in the 70's My girlfriends and I used to make up dance choreography that was way better than Hearts Throbs Dance. We could've been famous and been dancing in Marc's heart.
I love how much you can tell that Marc hates having to introduce the MOR stylings of Alan David. He's nearly gritting his teeth as he says "nice good pop song".
Not true ...Marc totally meant it .....seeing the mediocre dross he himself released at that time......he lived in a totally different world ,where such ditties were totally "nice good pop songs" especially that David Wild tune . Marc went out of his way to state "how good it was"..... It's all that cocaine that makes you appreciate the finer things in life .....
Chris Drummond Marc had worked as a male model in the early 1960s, so, I believe he had an instinctive gift for being in front of the camera. It certainly helped his music career.
Jamie Wild ......came along with the Boomtown Brats from Ireland ,who would become "incredibly huge" thanks to a famine in Ethiopia amongst others. And ........."a nice good pop record by Alan David".......🤣 Just luv that constantly grinning and trodding dungaree dude behind Narc .....you could just sense he totally agreed with this cabaret .
@@annwhite2346 Like all good session men Herbie played what he was ordered to play, or else he would've gotten co writing credits. After that we never heard of him again . Apart from Marc's brilliant 1977 recordings that is .

Before anyone gets mad: lemme start by saying that Marc was very talented, very cool, funny, handsome, etc. but BOY he could not host a show (Honestly I don't even care tho I LOVE it)
The only TV footage of the genius Robert Calvert, who was about to do a music venture with Marc, Calvert also nearly crashed in the same spot the week before
I agree that the show is horrendous. If not for Marc, I wouldn't endure it even for a minute. Like you Liz, I would be quite content to watch Marc read the phone book. So sad that he left us before he found his footing to launch the next phase of his career during an era when musical tastes were rapidly changing.
agreed Ann; this offering here is utter crap, woeful and dire! end of 1974, he was all played out, nothing to offer; the backing band are pathetic, especially the grinning cretin bass player in dungarees; ATROCIOUS!
Most people are not actually aware that Marc Bolan's biggest hit was that steel-reinforced fence post which his then girlfriend, Gloria Jones, hit whilst driving his Austin / Morris Mini Cooper car.
where can i find the song on this video he's called jamie wild whats the name of the song as ive looked for this song on here and cant find it its so frustrating as i love this song on marc show :)
My God, I like a bit of T-Rex but some of this show seems like Channel 9 on the Fast Show featuring Mickey Disco. This was a dire show wasn't it? Can remember turning it on in 1977 but not liking it. Geldof singing looking after number one seemed apt! Thanks for uploading!
I will always keep a little Marc in my heart ❣
He really did champion Punk and New Wave ! Good on you Marc ! I've only recently gotten deep into his music , something truly special about Marc !
Or glommed onto it, in the hope of revitalising his own career.

Marc was everything for this country. The US had the Dolls, we had Marc and Roxy Music
Think you forgot David Bowie there.

This was broadcast on ITV at 4:20 p.m., around the time when they have kid's TV programmes on usually. I can only think that's who it was aimed at.
