If I may say, you missed the beaches: São Conrado, Barra da Tijuca (the greatest), Grumary and Prainha, those are far more beautifull than Copacabana and Ipanema, but view tourists are aware about that...unfortunately..

I have been there many times and the subways are very nice. They just built some extensions for the Olympics and I rode them. They are top line and clean.
