I had the exact same face as Emmy did when I tried those chips. To me, they tasted more like somebody left buttermilk out for too long and then tried to spice it and cook it with some sort of...something. There's a very uncomfortable earthiness to it as well.
Taste test idea! Emmy, my daughter just got to the gold fish eating age so I found myself in that aisle of the grocery store.... and wow! I had no idea they have like 10 different flavors of goldfish! I immediately thought of you. If you need another taste test video, definitely try the different flavors of goldfish😉 p.s. I was excited by the everything bark because I love bagels and kettle chips but they were the biggest disappointment to me because they don't really have much of a flavor. The fried green tomato ones didn't resemble one at all, I can't really describe what they were aiming for. The crispy taco was actually really good, I think it would taste even better as a kettle chip.
Emmy, you should try the weird food combinations challenge. It's where you taste weird food combinations that some people actually love and see if you like them too. (for example chocolate on pizza)
I actually liked the chicken 'n waffles flavor they did a few years back. They were original enough to not taste like they just added a little something to an existing flavor (sour cream and onion seems to be the base for quite a few "new" flavors) AND the flavor tasted good as a chip.
Here in Brazil we had the same "Do us a flavor" ('Faça-me um sabor') this year with Ruffles instead of Lay's (they are much more popular than Lay's here but are made by the same company) with "Calabreonda" (Calabresa, a sausage seasoned with calabresa pepper from Brazil, thick wavy ruffles), "Feijuuuca" (Feijoada - black beans and pork stew) and "Burritatas" (burritos) flavors, they were all great, too bad the contest is over :/

I told my husband that I would wait until you did a video so I would know if they were worth giving a try. VERY happy that I waited, but sorry you had to suffer the disappointment for us all.
Fun fact about poppy seed bagels or consumption of poppy seeds in general: if you take a drug test after consuming said poppy seeds, your results will turn out to be positive for opiate related drugs. Something in poppy seeds triggers something in our bodies so it's a false positive. How peculiar! I looked up poppy seeds after finding out my new obsession regarding poppy seed bagels and that's what I found. There were several cases when people were fired or suspended for failing the drug test, when all they really did was eat poppy seed bagels!
Picking up on the comment about looking at rats at the pet store. We bought 2 boy rats for my son when he was 8, and they were the absolute best small pet we could have chosen! I get these every year for the family to taste. We felt the same way about the everything bagel chips. All we could taste was sour cream and onion. We were all pleasantly surprised at the fried green tomato flavor, they were better than we expected. Haven't tried the taco flavor yet.
I've been waiting for this video... those chips have been out here for about a month now, my personal favorite is taco but you're correct, they are strong flavored. I've fried hamburger, salt and peppered, then and a dash of taco seasoning to it, not much, light flavored, crunched up the taco lays, and topped with lettuce, tomato, cheddar jack cheese, a dollop of sour cream and green onion/scallions over the top of that for a lunch (can fry the hamburger the night before and heat in microwave) and topped off with hot sauce of choice... another friend used them to top a Mexican style meatloaf and that was pretty tasty as well...
We tried all three. The only one that came close to the advertised flavor was "Taco". There was no green tomato flavor at all in the "fried green tomato" chip. It was however pretty good as a topping on homemade Tuna Noodle Casserole.....

Fried Green Tomato really impressed me. I could taste everything from the tang of the tomato to the cornmeal, and even the grease layered cast iron pan! It was like a Willy Wonka experience.

I tried all of the flavors and i enjoyed the Taco the most in terms of capturing the flavor. I thought the Fried Green Tomato tasted like ketchup, and the Everything bagel didn't pack the bagel punch. But I thought as far as chips that I would snack on I enjoyed them!

My favorite hands down is the Crispy Taco, there's a lot of flavor happening! My first taste was actually lettuce, and the meat flavor came after a few chips, then a sour cream flavor. Yum!

To me I could maybe catch some onion powder and sesame flavor, perhaps. Very very mild. The crispy taco to me tastes a lot like Taco Bell mild sauce and some cheesy flavor. Like, they got the meaty, cheesy flavor, but I would have liked some veggie taste of tomato as well. I haven't tried the fried green tomato one. Overall, to me, none of these have overwhelming flavor. It's not like Doritos or salt and vinegar chips where you take a bite and your mouth instantly waters because there's so much seasoning and flavor. Kind of underwhelming, but hey, it's fun to try strange flavors like this!
My favorite kind of bagels used to be sesame and onion bagels and for the sweet bagels I really love the chocolate chip bagel. Gluten-free bagels just aren't the same as regular bagels so I don't really go for gluten-free bagels unless I have to bring a sandwich to work.
I like the fried green tomatoes best, that sourness that makes the original so unique is there but not overwhelming. We may disagree on the flavors, but I still love your content :)

I was able to buy a bag of the crispy taco flavor chips today (3/10/21) and I really liked them. The taco seasoning reminded me of McCormick's taco seasoning and had just enough heat to be pleasant, as well as a subtle taste of cheddar cheese! 😋
I was so happy to see your reaction to the fried green tomato chips. I liked the initial taste but the more you chew them they taste like pickles and the after taste was horrible. I took them to work in hopes that my coworkers would finish them and they all loved them, made me think my tastebuds weren't working but now i have confirmation that im not crazy!

There's one more flavor Emmy! Jalapeno popper with cream cheese! I was very disappointed in the fried green tomato one.....I was so hoping it would manage to capture the flavor but it was a miss for me but the taco one was a hit. I could taste the shell mostly....so funny how we all taste different things! That's the fun in these contests to me...seeing what everyone thinks! =}

I love all Lay's chips.
The only one I tried was the 'fried green tomato' and although it doesn't taste like a fried green tomato is does taste like the sauce you might use on one. Kind of a horse radish cream sauce. I loved them!
