Thanks for this great post. Soooo moving and exquisite. Someone must have hit the wrong button through tears. The best of what You Tube is about. Love everything EW does.
As a Christian I know one would run into problems singing this in church, but it is perfect as are Rumi's words. What better wishes for newlyweds. Eric Whitacre's choice of poetic words is also awesome throughout all his music.
I see what you mean. The part of marriage being "every day a day in happiness" can be theologically incorrect because marriage is about working through the hard times too but the heart can still be heard in the music.
Absolutely one of my all time favorite Eric Whitacre pieces. Beautifully done! And props to you who posted this and how it slowly zooms in on his wedding band at the end. Very nice touch :)
I read it! And I sang this in choir as a freshman in high school (I graduated the year before you dang it in show choir) and the song still comes to my mind occasionally, hauntingly beautiful in vocals and beautifully written in lyrics.
I performed this at an old castle in Ireland, beautiful experience ♡ want to have it performed at my wedding as well.
just stunning.
OMG I am SOOOO jealous! This must've been an AMAZING experience!!! My FAVOURITE Eric Whitacre song!
this is the most beautiful song I have ever heard
Wow. So beautiful!

A stunning rendition of a beautiful song. Thank you.
I'm having this sung at my wedding, with a 4 choristers.

as a Christian, i totally don't see why not sing this in church. where are the parts God would frown upon?

Nice ensemble. Don't care for the piece, however. Sounds like Healey Willan having a serious attack of sentimentality.
