    Aesthetically, those darkened headlights in the later models really take its looks to a whole new level. For some reason, it looks like a completely different car without those kind of headlights.

    That's funny, i have the 2 liter version and my only regret is not finding a good v6 version back then. Big love for the car, it's absolutely the best value-for-money coupe for daily use you can find, fun and reliable.

    • @SplodgeMotors
      @SplodgeMotors  Год назад

      I've thought about buying one again the issue I have is the high tax on the V6 but if I get the 2l will it not been as good as I remember from having the V6, I know there's also a 1.6 but I never really seen that spoken in comparison to the others

    • @jannekiljunen6784
      @jannekiljunen6784 Год назад +1

      @@SplodgeMotors I think the 1.6 was pretty limited in where it was sold, I've seen one here and it was an import. Just by the numbers it sounds too little power for a car like this. 2 liter engine works fine, it definitely has less torque than the v6, just rev it up mercilessly if you want to be fast and it's good enough imo. From what I hear it's also easier to modify the 2 liter engine but I have no space, tools or expertise so take that with a pinch of salt, I run mine stock (didn't even debadge, I love how confused people look when they realize it's a Hyundai).

    I used to own one of these 2.7's in black colour from 2012-2016. Temped to get another one since my 09' Scirocco is starting to give me grief. My old Hyundai Coupe was pretty much fault free apart from that one time the throttle mount on the floor was partly broke and made my throttle pedal spongy (fixed it myself with some metal plates and bolts along with laying upside down in the footwell and a lot of swearing, haha.) They are a very pretty car and quite affordable to buy, although the vehicle tax is very high due to the "green lobby" environmentalist plebs which really annoy me. Since the insurance is only like £200 for a 40 year old i can "just about" put up with the £675 vehicle tax.

    • @SplodgeMotors
      @SplodgeMotors  Год назад

      Yeah I 100% keep thinking of getting another one, the tax is just the biggest issue, I consider getting the 2l but I don't feel it's a big enough amount better on tax and if I did get one I'll just always be wishing I had the 2.7

    Have had 2 gen2 2.0. First got written off, non fault accident and the second one is parked on my drive being used daily.
    Just got a Gen3 2.7 that I've been gifted for a week to see if I want to buy it.
    Comparing the two for a week. So far I gota say the v6 torque is great fun, prefer the Gen2 looks though.

    Are these cars cheap to maintain? Are parts easily available when getting services? Any major reliablity problems i wanna go buy one, there is onky one available near me. 2007 v6 200 00km, will it last another 100 00 with properly maintaineance?

    • @SplodgeMotors
      @SplodgeMotors  3 года назад +1

      Make sure it's got good maintenance history, the V6 can go for a long time but only if it's been well looked after, getting is serviced is all fine the issue can be replacement parts when needed due to the car not being the most common but not impossible

    • @danielshiel6049
      @danielshiel6049 3 года назад +1

      Felt pretty solid, not much history available. Last serviced this year in april. Very responsive on throttle, steering good, very clean, well looked after inside and out, oil and coolant good. No leeks no smoke from exhaust. Tested from cold start.
      Did feel a tiny bit of vibration when reving hard in neutral but not when driving. Maybe coz i drive a 4 cyclinder sedan and this thing is 6 and much smaller body.
      Worried about its timing belt, should i have looked for a sticker or something that will say when last changed?

    • @SplodgeMotors
      @SplodgeMotors  3 года назад

      Overall sounds good, depending what car your coming from its definitely going to fells very different being a very torque based engine, if there's anything like the belt your worried about I'll say get it done right away as it's just going to make you worry non stop, over all tho if you feel it's been well looked after sounds like a good deal I'll just recommend getting it serviced soon after you get it, keep me updated if you do get it and maybe send us a photo over on Instagram

      @SplodgeMotors  Год назад

      I think you might be confusing the power for the torque as it's 180lb-ft, and for its age compared to similar cars like the Celica it's a heavy car and taking it out on track it felt it

    • @shannonireland9057
      @shannonireland9057 Год назад

      Don't agree.The 94_98 celica has only 100 kw and weights 1200 kg.There is only about 50 kg different between the two.The hyundai has 245 nm of torque which is substantially more than its direct rivals the celica and Integra.Also the last versions of the Tiburon had 7kw less power than the first generation Tiburon.Also having probably reviewed a Tiburon and driven a Tiburon around a track thats been around the world a few times would have probably affected your track performance substantially.My Tiburon is in showroom condition and only has 20 thousand kilometres on the clock.Ive had the vehicle on the dino and its producing 180hp at the flywheel in stock form.

    Have to say, having owned a 2L gen 3 very briefly, they're nothing to shout home about performance-wise, and that's as a Coupe fan (on number 4 at the moment!) so you might be disappointed when you review that sadly! I didn't want the V6 due to the high tax/thirsty engine but found the 2L a bit lacklustre, due to being heavier than the gen 1. Also found the suspension a lot firmer. I'll stick to the Gen 1's, more of a pure drivers car I think for sure, currently have an F2 Evo that's doing me proud!

      @@SplodgeMotors I deleted the rear mufflers and the air filter box. On most cars that doesn't give you a big boost in power but in the case of the Tiburon it's a pretty noticeable difference. I also put on lighter rims and deleted the evap charcoal canister, which together with the wheels and muffler delete gave me a weight savings of about 100 pounds. I guess it would be hard for you to pass the stricter MOT inspection with those mods though.

      A Honda CRX Del sol has almost the same bhp from a 1.5 four cylinder... (160) And it weights 900 kg in comparison with a 1300 kg of the Hyundai... It would mean it hasn't got a chance. My best Friend drives a 2.5 liter turbo from a Mazda 3mps and has 262 bhp. Its ridiculus the lack of bhp

    Not that this will help you out now, 05 plates and earlier are a lower tax, I've got an old 04 3.0 Legacy and it's around £350 per year to insure, a Hyundai Coupe may be even cheaper, not sure. Obviously finding low mileage cars in good condition from 15+ years ago may not be economical to save £100 if you have to spend £300 getting them in shape.
    In terms of bang for the buck, Hyundai had a shortish run of Sonata and Grandeur V6's with 3.3L engines which are now very cheap.

    So for 2K€ is this a better deal for a daily driver sport car than a Toyota Celica VVTLI T-Sport (4-6K) or a Mazda RX-8 Cosmo (3-6K). I'm a university student that passed to a uni outside of my hometown and I care more about reliability and looks as this is my first car (I have driven both a Scoda Octavia and a Toyota Corolla but this will be the first car I will own myself and that I'll have to take care of) . Other options are the audi TT quattro and the BMW M3 E36 Cabrio but they really tend to get an inflated price tag near the summer period in Greece.

    • @SplodgeMotors
      @SplodgeMotors  3 года назад +1

      The Celica is the better car but I don't think it's worth that much extra, the Hyundai is perfect so long as it's not alot of city driving as that will get exspevive in fuel but if that's not a issue for you I highly recommend

      In terms of common problems rusty arches and bad handbrakes are the main ones that youll notice easy. Door actuators failing, if doors lock themselves even after having been opened thats the sign. V6s get the dreaded knock of death so you always want a good service history, Check cambelt and service history on any of the three engines, also the bite point of these is so high in fact that most people mistake them for being worn out and needing replacement bit this is something you can lower
