I unfortunately just found your page not to long ago, FMA is something I have wanted to do since I started training when I was 13. Bad part of is I am 50 now so I have to move slowly, but I'm learning, and my movement and mobility are getting better everyday. Don't ever stop being the Instructor you are.

I feel you man, but it's never too late we must believe... it's about the reason and the why, why we want to train and learn any art and defense. To defend the weak or weaker ones, our family and friends, including ourselves. Im just learning slowly via free youtube lessons. I know its difficult to learn just by watching videos, but it's better than nothing. By the way Im 39 this year my friend... God bless.

Just discovered your site here and i have subscribed because your insight and explanations are fantastic.... The part where you said someone openly complained about flipping the karambit is stupid is due to their ignorance...

  • @cesarvidelac
    @cesarvidelac 3 года назад +7

Many (too much) people just talk from their ignorance (that has been the rule specially from this last four years). Ancient Karambits are double edged, and you pointed well the legality of single edged ones. Great video as laways!

Ive had all these karambits sitting around for years with nothing to do with em. Ddcided to finally learn and found you. Now not only can i train that but you are helping me learn many other techniques. And for that. Thank you!

Mark, you are an awesome instructor. Excellent communicator. Love your non flashy, unassuming way. Love the karambit. I'd like to see more combos or tech. I thought it hilarious when mentioned getting older, wiser AND, losing your hair. Funny part is I don't think you meant it as being funny but to slip that in there when you were plainly speaking was great. Thank you for your videos.

For me, the combos no need 😆
      Knife fights end fast.
GOOD ones with attackers on floor & without your blood
BAD ones are WHEN they grab your knife, break your finger and stick in you
All those done with no records 🥲
But yes, love those basic moves and flips anyway 😁

The flip is def useful as a strike ...strike as an opening move to your opponents wrists or forearms...done in the right place unprotected can cause some really devastating results. Or even to the face or side of the head

Subscribed today, I trained in the '80's and 90's with Tuhon Tom Bisio, Tuhon Wm. Mcgrath and had four one week seminars with Gnd Mstr Leo Gaje jr Your versions are just like our pekiti tersia abecedarios.
I got the first 64, the 12 (plus one ) sinawalis and a few dozen disarms (bladed and non bladed) and the first sequidas but we never trained Karambit, (the extra one sinawali is MoyMoy Canete's ''one way'' He always won with it)

Appreciate the subscription, but I’m gonna be real with you. Comments like this make me hate the FMA community. “Your move is like ours” is the equivalent of saying “best regards” in a professional email. It just comes off as a polite fuck you, y’know? All you did was comment your resume on this video.. which honestly means jack. Don’t care what system you learn, who’s your instructor or if you like your drink shaken or stirred. I still have NO IDEA who you are and what you bring to the table other than a LinkedIn profile summary. Just be a good person and spread that energy around.
Btw, you’re welcome for the video.

I'm confused about how a double-edged karambit would be illegal in canada... it's not a push dagger (explicitly prohibited). Lots of other double-edged knives are legal here. What am i missing? Thanks!

as it's name Pekiti-Tirsia Kali can use any types of weapons like karambit indigenous in southeast Asia, take the example of Chinese martial arts with karambit or Krav maga with karambit.
