- Need a Mun Base? Then this Tutorial may help, this part will show how to Build, get to and Pinpoint landing on the Mun.
This Tutorial is a guide for building a base on the Mun, we launch the first part and land on the Mun then we land another module using a pinpoint landing technique of just dropping over the top of your base, first time I have tried it

This is similar to Scott Manley's Mun rendez-vous tutorial from 4 yrs ago. But His had more math. I Like your HAB designs. Creating a base is my next big milestone in KSP and this wlll come in handy.
Comparing me to Scott Manley in any way is an achievement :D

I've always been looking for a reliable/not-so-scary way to land on certain spots. This technique looks promising. I'll definitely give it a try. Nice vid on it. 👍🏻. Thanks.

This rocket is massive, WAY overengineered, and costs about 5x what it needs to cost.

Smaller tanks and engines would work, but this thing could put _ANYTHING_ into orbit, nevermind a tiny lander like this. Pretty sure this rig could get to Duna. = )

I just did my first landing and return before watching this and stuff just got 10x better
Watching this makes me wanna make my own tutorial as I think I have gotten pretty good with precision landing (I've landed at my old flags and for those contracts where you have to do an eva report at a specific area) but I do it by eye which is more fun than Scott Manley's tutorial that uses a bunch of math (which is what I used to do too), and also lands without having to have a ship with ridiculously high TWR to land from a near orbit (like you do here)
Actually, it is the same principle of orbital rendezvous, pushing and pulling your retrograde marker (in this case) toward the anti-target
the issue then becomes avoiding COLLIDING with your target, lol

I've seen your tutorials and I must say I like them very much. One question: What are the mods you use apart from the engineer redux? I noticed the better planet textures and clouds, also the little animations when changing course in space.
+El Gronto Not sure about the animations when changing course i didnt use any mods for that, but you can get camera mods for the game for cool effect. For the clouds use Environmental Enhancement mod.
I use other mods like inferno robotics, Hyperedit, camera tools, Kerbal alarm clock, MechJeb, ScanSat . they are the main mods I use I have a few more but cant remember off the top of my head ;)

I prefer to make mini base location analyzers thingy's just to detect if it is a suitable landing site. But you can do it your way!

Hey Orb8ter, already liking the series. Lots of fun. As well as demonstrating your technique (which I'm looking forward to), it may be worthwhile to demonstrate a suicide burn. Just to, you know, illustrate the idea. Hilarity and education ensue!

To not have space junk, just use sepreatrons at the same time fire the decoupler

+Alex Kjær Aaskilde Yeah you can get a bit scatter brained while recording forgetting things, I mention at the beginning of build that I will only use Kerbal Engineering Redux mod for the first couple of episodes but may show base mods on the last one, Cheers man!

ORBITER!!!!!! CAN YOU MAKE A LAYTH SSTO AND PLACE A SCIENTIFIC SAT AROUND IT AND DEPLOY MINI PROBES WHEN YOU LAND AND RETURN TO KERBIN WITH A TON OF SCIENCE and it can't be more than 40 tons

You Have Never Ever Had Rovers On Your Missions......What About A SSTO That Can Convert Into A Rover And Then Go Back Home And Bring 10 Kerbals And It Can't Be More Than 26 Tons

Whoa I have no idea?? check in map mode mouse to the top of the screen and check if all icons are checked it may be that they are set to not be visible otherwise I have no clue??
Try Pressing F3 or F4 or F5 i dont remember...
how do u make the living capsule? is it stock parts or?

witch mods did you use for this tutorial?
Awesome videos. I know you use something like EVE for the clouds but are you using any that improve the planets surface? For some reason the Muns surface looks different around the 23:25 mark.
Are you able to do a complete series using 1.5.1 with and without mods?
Those landing legs have a crash tolerance of 12 m/s. Not 7.
+Kerbal Space Pro I probably read it off another part I know a lot of parts are about 5m/s but keeping that rule makes sure I won't crumple into the ground

why do you use liquid fuel engines in place of solid fuel boosters

Probably reminds you of one of the landers well its the easiest to build ;)
Does it count towards a contract if the base parts aren't connected with docking ports?
Sorry im not sure about contracts but i assume not as docking bases is verry challenging so I dont think they expect you to unless they say so.

How did you build your habitat module?
+Michael Farrell The habitat module is very simple I used the copula module on top of the hitch hiker pod a fuel tank and the poodle engine, don't forget the landing legs, solar panels and batteries ;)

The large craters don't have many minerals in the base game
+evsnake I think the game makes it random for everybody's game so you have to use the scanner unless they gave changed it

YES, but its pointless because the deltav needed to go to the moon makes it ineffective to go to the moon to refuel.
Ah but you bring the fuel from the moon into Kerbin orbit a lot less delta V than launching the fuel from Kerbin
but that takes time, and its easier to just ferry fuel from kerbin :/ (for me)
