It's so obvious that Steve Smith still practices all the time. His form is perfect and he can make anything he hits sound a thousand shades of beautiful. Truly, he is a MASTER!
He’s inspiring to me because he has just gotten better as the years go by. Most musicians rest on their laurels, but yeah- you can definitely tell he practices
I am completely blown away of the overall sound of these cymbals!💗 so clean sounding stick definition on every hit, with just enough blend of dark and bright wash/roar and it's decay is incomparable with a smooth buttery feel to it..great job Zildjian and great demo of these hats off to the guy on the kit!👍👌💗🇵🇭👀
Steve Smith.. I like the way you play the drums, very professional very cool and nice sounds,, specifically you are a class A drummer.. I always watching you in RUclips... I'm a drummer also I play in cruise ships..
Mr. Smith I look up to you and must say that you have received a beautiful gift straight from the heavens u my friend are blessed with one hell of a talent I got so damn excited when this wonderful Musician was on MemphisDrumSHop channel which why I watched your videos and very interested demonstration thank you for this wonderful resource Rock On Mr.Smith and I Cant wait to meet you on the other side Sir.... -Damian
Paul Gonzales the comment above said, Mr. Smith received a beautiful gift straight from the heavens. Then it said, Mr. Smith was blessed with one HELL of a talent. So what is it, heaven or Hell? I don't believe in either. I don't believe people are gifted with talent from either place. I think that some people are better taken care of than others. Steve had the opportunity to go to college for a music education, alot of drummers I know were not that fortunate, including myself. A gift is something you get on your birthday or Christmas. Playing an instrument with skill and passion is not something that is given. It must be earned with hard work. I know I'm making a big deal out of this and I'm probably blowing it all out of proportion, but my only excuse is, I'm a big asshole.
This is neither the time or the place to discuss your atheistic, religious views.. It's a fucking a cymbal demo, done by a very "gifted" drummer. That term is just exactly that. A term. Not agreeing with someone's beliefs is your business, but you should respect their opinion and beliefs regardless of whether you think they're true or not. Furthermore, if you don't believe in either, why do you celebrate Christmas then ? Is it just for the sheer stupidity of buying gifts and spending money on that one particular day ? If there was no birth of Christ, why then come up with a "holiday" to celebrate spending billions of dollars worldwide , capitalizing and profiting from putting millions in debt, perpetuating the insane stress that happens during that time of year just so someone can buy their loved ones some stupid thing that was most likely made in China ? I'll tell you why. Because religion is a control grid scam, and has been for millennia.. Religion has nothing to do with a belief in a creator. Society and pop culture have made it this way. Religion is a control grid to control the masses, and it always has been. With that being said, i think you should just enjoy the videos put up here, and keep your personal thoughts outside of the musical spectrum to yourself . I only did so with you to prove a point. However, i do agree with your stance on working hard to achieve something, which is certainly what Mr. Smith did. The one thing i don't agree with, is that you think he doesn't have a "gift" for drumming, because he most certainly does.. But i still respect your opinion for thinking otherwise.. That term for example, can also be used to describe someone who's a natural at a certain skill, whether that be drumming or something else. I learned to play drums on my own, with no help, and now make my living from it. Does this mean i worked hard to get to where i am? Yes.. Does it mean that i don't have a gift, absolutely not. Learning something on your own is a God given skill, and not too many people have it.. When i see a video of drums, drumming, etc, i discuss that topic, and don't verve off to another entirely different subject which will most likely create unnecessary debate and animosity, which btw, is not my intention.. Peace..
I picked up a 22" constanople light overhammered ride for 300 even delivered to the door and after you crash it you can listen to the sustain for 10 seconds amd it sounds like a sympathy beautiful.. Just tryin to find the right hats i use to have the hhx evolution 13" pawned them years ago but there still there so been thinkin maybe we should reunite but since i lost all my worldy possessions zildjian has really grown on me i used to play mostly paiste dark dry ride and another dry ride i cant think of with a 3rd ride a old 60/70s 20" avedis i might have to find another 1 of those easy to find for a fair price and really sound great in my experience
Seriously now. ALL the top of the line cymbals sound VERY similar. The art of fine instrument making is no secret and if you are willing to $$$ you will NOT be disappointed.

Steve is super talented and I respect the snot out of him. But I wish he demoed the cymbals a little more exactly. He didn't really crash the crashes much.
*_Great playing... Pity about the tinny poppy tuning of the drums which is an annoying distraction when trying to focus on the cymbals... So, what about the cymbals? ...Very weak with a thin stick sound, and characterless splash... Not my taste, however, it may have been a bad choice of microphones, who knows?_*
Hahahah you probably think that A Customs are the best cymbals out there. These cymbals are perfection ma' man they're not for rock, they're dark, complex and rich. The drums are tuned to notes, just like any Jazz set is. Everything in here is pure music. Sorry but if you don't even appreciate how good this set sounds you just have bad taste.
Very well said. I cannot Express it any better so I just give you props. He is so much fun to watch play.
A great drummer indeed
Now THAT'S how you demo some cymbals!
I can listen to Steve Smith talk about cymbals as long as I can listen to him play....so basicly a long time.
I am completely blown away of the overall sound of these cymbals!💗

DAMN! Those stick throws at 3:50 were so smooth I barely even noticed them
K costamillion cymbals.
Wow yea they're great.
Great cymbals showcased by a top pro. Technique is so natural looking for him, just a a great player indeed.
I love all the different ways you played those cymbals! I would've never thought of that! Great demo
omg this "main ride" sounds AMAZING, doesn't it? so warm and articulate fucking hell mate.
I have the 22inch medium thin low ride and it is so glorious.
Yea it's great for 600.
Or you could get 2 of another.
Came across this cymbal set in Guitar Center and instantly fell in love. Definitely getting a set of these in the future when I build my dream set
kills every kit , cymbal he touches. this dude is AMAZING!!!
Steve Smith is the best damn drummer I've ever seen live. This guy`s technical efficiency and style match up to only the late Mr Rich
You've ever seen Vinnie Colaiuta?? A newer technical mastermind named Matt Garstka?
Hehe, it's really difficult to throw Colaiuta and Garstka together with Steve Smith and Buddy Rich.
are you even listening to these cymbals?
+Paweł Morrison Brann Dailor is better!
Metal Head who is bran Dailor?
3:11 this fill
2:15 also --- Oh My...

Master drummer, Steve Smith. The Sonor kit just kills as well.
Steve's playing is a like a gust of wind blowing on a meadow of fresh wild flowers and green pastures..

Damn so much stick definition it sounds like hitting a block of wood I love it
Fantastic cymbals, fantastic drummer...
The way he moved around was mesmerizing
So many other demo’s play the music or the drums so loud that you can’t hear the cymbals. Good job Steve and Memphis Drum Shop!!!

it's not a gift.
Gift of passion not skill ;)

Of course the cymbals sound great. But damn this guy can play. Technically, he seems like an amazing drummer.
Jesus Christ these cymbals punch you in the face with stick definition when played on the top..
He made the cymbals - that's why.. Jesus did..
This dude's not bad. He should play in a band.

Steve Smith. Drummer for Journey. Amazingly talented drummer
It’s the journey drummer he’s awesome
$2500.00 plus in cymbals
About $2100.
But about $1600 without the bounce.
Steve is super talented and I respect the snot out of him. But I wish he demoed the cymbals a little more exactly. He didn't really crash the crashes much.
Only $2,000 lol
For five amazing cymbals.
Sounds about right.
Jazz cymbals are a bit expensive for top tier stuff.
But it’s worth it.
