- On February 12, the "Expeditionary Light Project," initiated in 2022 by #CAA Professor Zheng Jing, entered its third phase with the launch of the ambitious "Human Utopia Series" at the snow-covered Buzludzha Monument in #Bulgaria.
The Buzludzha Monument, a 20th-century architectural relic set within the Balkan Mountains, served as the backdrop for a profound dialogue across time. Taking advantage of the unique architectural structure of the Buzludzha Monument, Professor Zheng created an interplay of light and shadow with the dome and walls. Musician Nikola Markovski performed Bulgarian folk tunes, recounting the tales of this land and the people's aspirations for a better life. Zheng's creation transcended mere lighting effects, focusing instead on the very essence of ideals.
Employing light as a medium and a nomadic approach, the "Expeditionary Light Project" conducts real-time artistic creation worldwide in diverse cultural and natural spaces. The performance centered on the fundamental concept of ideals, illustrating art's enduring power to inspire hope and create spiritual monuments for the future-even amidst the remnants of history.
