1982...Off I skipped to the local computer store, I had waited weeks for it to come back in stock. The dreams I had swirling in my head, the magazines i had poured over just fired my imagination even more. I taught myself BASIC and that was the start of a career that spanned 36 years in various IT roles. The games were all we talked about as boys waiting for the school bus, very very happy memories of the ZX Spectrum. Thank you Sir Clive
How lucky we were to have been born at exactly the right place at exactly the right time. Glorious days. Good to see MD flying the flag of MM on behalf of MS. Really looking forward to the new Sam MM next month. The gameplay is still gold although for mortals pokes are essential.
I learned BASIC in the mid-80s,but not on a ZX Spectrum. I then learned first Pascal and then C in the early 90s,and subsequently got my head round C++.

There will never be a decade as wonderful as the 80s, and this is one of the main reasons why.
I tried learning BASIC on a ZX Spectrum

BASIC
10 "BUM"
20 GOTO 10
0:13 "The ZX Spectrum sold millions of copies" WTAF is she waffling on about? The ZX Spectrum is not software, it's hardware!
