  • Hey guys, I went to France for three weeks for fun and needed a great travel bag...I found it in the Split-Adventure 38L from Dakine. With lots of pockets, storage space, a slot for my 15" laptop and pretty good room for clothes, the versatility and style won me over.

    Nice review! And Dakine took your advice and put a handle on the side of the new one.

    VERY AWESOME (and objective) REVIEW for this product! Disappointed that Dakine didn't have a video/Vimeo for this item on their website. However your review was fantastic demonstrating length/depth of compartments, and maybe missed opportunity for Dakine (who carries 2 water bottles anyway??); one item you missed in your highlights [and an added appeal for me] is the caribiner loop! Thanks! Love love love - and now am going to BUY IT! I hope Dakine knows you sold this product! 💞

      Lori!! So sorry for late response but you nailed it! The carabiner loops are crucial for adding on a few more useful items. Great call. It's a solid bag and gets alot of use! Thanks for watching!!

    You should comment that the laptop compartment is blocked off from going all the way to the bottom of the bag. So if your put your bag on the ground it does not damage the laptop as easily. Dakine is one of the only brands to have that feature.

      Yessss. Great call. That's very helpful with this bag. DaKine killed it with this one! Been a big travel bag for me for the past few years. Thanks for the comment and watching ! Are you getting one?

      @@bhaz yes sir, just ordered the VX21, started a business and using the motorcycle to meet with potential clients so having a quality and versatile backpack is a necessity. You're review also helped me see me more of an in depth review than just pictures so thank you!

    The Dakine Departure Bag (55L) was IMHO the best travel bag ever made. Still using it and I will make a replacement when the time comes!

    Geez, best backpack review ever! Especially I guess because I'm french and the last words made me laugh (cuz it's not french at all, we all agree on that) ^^
    Fuck me, just bought the Osprey Farpoint 40, maybe I made a mistake, the Dakine looks so neat!

    • @bhaz
      @bhaz  4 года назад

      Oh (merci) for checking it out! Well, it's tough between those b/c Osprey makes really great bags too. The dakine has less space but some really usable pockets in the front and since I haven't spent any time with the Farpoint. Probably depends on what type of travel you'll be using it for! Thanks for the comment anyway and let me know how it ends up!

      @@bhaz Well it ended up that I canceled my Osprey order and bought the Dakine.. haha
      I wanted a backpack for my weekly professionnal commutes. So I need something practical to store my shirts, my toiletry, my computer, kindle and all the chargers. The Osprey can do that.
      But I live in the alps and my job is in the south. So sunglasses are compulsary and I loved the dedicated pocket on the Dakine.
      Though, when I finish my day, I like to take a run so I needed a spare pair of shoes. Hence the Dakine, with the dedicated mesh inside.
      Finally, the hability to store my pen properly is neat cuz.. You always have pen!
      I will test it, I just hope the lack of hip belt won't be a problem for my back.
      However, the moment you have a hip belt, you look like someone from the mountains and not really "professionnal". The Dakine style make it less "sport-oriented" I think ;)

    Have you carried it on a European discount carrier? It’s nominally 5 cm too thick for Easyjet, TAP etc. but maybe it fits the sizer if not packed too full?

      @bhaz  5 лет назад +2

      Joshua Scholnick great question. That I DIDNT do so I can’t say for sure but I do know this can tighten down with the side straps really easily. I’d say you could make it work. Let me know if you try!!

      Dakine's website lists the dimensions as 55x30x25 cm which is fine for Easyjet and Tap.

    I realize this video is a bit old, this bag looks extremely perfect for my needs. I’m a college student but also want to have the option to pack a pair of gym shoes and change of clothes in my bag addition to my laptop and small snacks, etc. for school. Is it overkill on body? I’m about 6 foot four and 200 pounds, I don’t want to have some huge piece of luggage on my back 😅. Thanks.

      You got it! IDK if they still make it but I'd also look at Thule, Osprey, and PacSafe!

    anyone know how well the bag does with rain?

    • @bhaz
      @bhaz  4 года назад +2

      I don't know directly--def not waterproof but would be fine in a mist or light rain. Anything bigger, I'd look for a bag cover.
