Having spent a large part of my adult life in the military, much of that overseas during the 'Cold War', it was always a Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) for myself (and my family) to remain prepared in case of unforeseen events. Having long since left that life I still put emphasis on staying prepared for any problems I may encounter. Where I live it is more likely that I would experience economic hardships rather than civil unrest, which I view as fortunate. Remembering back to the long lines and panic buying during the Pandemic, I have already started 'upping' my supplies now before potential disruptions form things like the implementation of tariffs, , the deportation of our farm labor, or increased prices start to become an issue. I guess my message is . . . Don't wait until SHTF, start stocking now while things are still available and prices are relatively low.

It is a very interesting but difficult read but it did make me feel a bit calmer to know these cycles have happened many times before. The last 4th. turnings were The Great Depression, World War 2, Civil War and The American Revolution in their respective eras. I would definitely check it out for some historical context. Look into the global water situation. By 2030 two thirds of the world won’t have access to clean water. That means that nothing else will either. The seas will also collapse by 2035. If we plan to survive what is coming, we need to plan to survive on our own. Converted shipping container gardening is the only way to lock up your fresh food supply, but it doesn’t work without independent water and power supplies.

The #1 thing that I’ve personally seen people need to know is for the ability to personally think, act and overcome things under stressful conditions. I have family members that say they could, then I put them under a hypothetical scenario and most fail. Since they never had training or experience with everything going wrong and you need to think and act to overcome it.
I tell them to place them in a bad situation they control. Like when it’s really cold outside, turn off all standard heating sources in your house for a whole day and night. imagine a major natural disaster that all power, gas or other heating sources is eliminated. That you must only use what you personally have inside your house to keep warm or create makeshift heating elements. Could you last 24 hours straight in freezing cold temperatures, while having the ability to turn on the heat anytime you want? If you can do it, you are ready, if not you will suffer.

What about, you go to the supermarket and there is no food?

    • @1st_Amendment_Is_My_Right
      @1st_Amendment_Is_My_Right 23 дня назад

@@joannegratton491 you’re kind of screwed on that part. People will fight and kill each other over the last bit of food. So it’s best for you to prep ahead and I’ll explain that below.
The best thing to do is prepare ahead and not wait until the last minute. Buy extra things when shopping that have long shelf lives. Rice, beans, freeze dried, or dehydrated foods. Also canned foods that have 3-5 years expiration or longer. You don’t have to buy it all at once an extra can or two for every shopping trip or other trip will add up.
      NOW
      - First you need to look at your cooking/heating supplies. Do you have the ability to creat a heat source to cook with 110% of the time no matter what happens? (Like a on site propane source?)
--if you do, you can buy items that require cooking in order to prep. Something like beans itself. (can you eat beans without cooking with heat? Yes, but it’s hard for children or some people to eat if you’re cooking for them.)
      - second, if you don’t have the reliable heat source. Buy foods that you can eat straight out of the pack or the can, that don’t require cooking to be edible. Something like canned fruit , vegetables, pre-manufactured meals, (spaghettiOs, chili, soups) or meat (chicken or spam). I’m not a fan of spam, if I eat it, I prefer it cooked. But if need be, I can literally eat it straight from the can and it be safe to eat.
It’s a long explanation. But the simplest thing to do is get what you would be able to eat, and every member of your family would be able to eat. If the meal is cooked with minimal supplies, undercooked/partially cooked, or not cooked, but is safe to eat. Buy the long shelf items that your family and you would be able to eat. Put them in a pantry, spare closet, box or container and just rotate it once a year only the food that is within a year of expiring. I recommend minimum of two weeks of extra meals stored away, but preferably 90+ days of supplies. So if SHTF you have that extra food after you clear your standard supply.

@@itszachyabish9796 it started when I was in middle school. My mom bought me a new Iz0d outfit for school and she was horrified when I removed the little alligator from the polo and the jacket. It was just stitched on so easy to remove. Brands have since resorted to embroidering their logos onto clothes to make removal difficult. I say if you can't remove it just cover it up. I personally like duct tape to cover them up. Besides duct tape comes in so many colors you won't really have to worry about running into a brand clone wearing the same duct tape. As if that would be a problem lol
Tennis shoe brands can be challenging so flex seal does nicely and dries permanent yet flexible.
The brand I can't stand the most is N0rth Farce, they literally invented the rear facing brand logo. I guess to keep their brand clones in a straight line at the office where their "outdoor wear" is most popular lol

    # 5 matters a lot, especially if you take into account the drones flying around on the east coast. No way they aren't from the US military. Great reporting being done on this from other news outlets said that it's entirely possible for AI-automated drones to be more widely used by the military and eventually police could get their hands on it too. And these ones are currently being used in Ga-za to k!ll people there. Then those drones lighting up the sky will get turned on us here. We should definitely be paying attention to # 5 a lot more than many people realize.

All valid points but extreme wx, IMO, is ranked too high. I have worked outside for most of my 70 years with no plans on stopping anytime soon. One thing I have noticed is that it cold in the winter and hot in the summer no matter where I live. If you use common sense and look at what you plan for the day it limits the daily impact. Admit that localized storms, tornadoes, hurricanes are serious but generally not nation wide. I may change my opinion with entering a solar max cycle this year but I have gone through several of these and still find hot in the summer, cold in the winter is a constant.

      Consider,
perhaps reread your comment from an observer pov, notice that the entire list of what you're afraid of and the list you're not, is in fact able, and likely, to directly cause &/or affect all of the concern list.
Our entire existence is digitized, from health care to supply chain, to municipal waterworks, to the traffic lights, etc. ALL computerized, linked & online, clearly, all with minimal security as we can tell by all the "leaked customer data" every single day.
With the whole ai now passable digital impersonations of real people including their voices here... it's a matter of short time before that starts some shit for real concern too

On phone numbers: If you have one or two or a few VERY critical phone numbers, the BEST thing you can do would be to memorise them. Because, guess what! As they say, shit happens! Your mobile phone breaks. It somehow manages to fall into that one puddle of water in the carpark. Also, for that reason, have phone numbers written down someplace.
