Very clear story. I have a full range of Simmer Style equipment (Vmax and 2XC) and was looking for a small freerace board (95 lt) There are a few options; Severne Fox, Fanatic Jag and yes, the Goya. I am gonna buy one, all tests/reviews are possitive and your explanation makes the decission easy. Keep up the good work (and maybe a little bit easy going with the paint job in the future makes it more timeless (my opinion)). Kind regards from the Netherlands
I tried one of these on the Outerbanks in North Carolina. I was on a 105L. Wow. Just wow. We had three days in the week worth mentioning. Day 1: 20-25 knots (Bolt) Day 2: 20-30 knots (Bolt) Day 3: 17-25 knots (Proton & Bolt) I also tried a Proton 116L. The Bolt 105L was so comfortable I was throwing duck jibes on my second tack. I looked at my GPS watch and noticed I was going 33mph without even trying. The board was locked in and under control. And this was with an OBX Weed Fin!! When the winds approached 30 knots I experienced one tailwalk, but even that was easy to overcome quickly. Comparing to the Proton 116L? They are very different, but I can see why Francisco says 80/20. You sacrifice a little speed with the Bolt. But what you gain in comfort and relaxation is worth it for a weekend warrior. When I was on the Proton with a 7.3m2 S-Type, I was The Fastest on the water. Nobody was keeping up with me especially as the winds picked up. The 'P' in Proton stands for Paying Attention, though. This isn't necessarily a bad thing... The Proton IS a race board!! When you are paying attention you are on a very fast board. If you are willing to fully commit in your gibes, you will experience quite powerful gibes where you exit with amazing speed. But this will only happen when you are paying attention. With the Bolt, you get very close to the same effect with much less effort -- the level of effort I like to employ when just out to have fun. My current gear is around 10 years old. It is still in good condition and I enjoy sailing it. But after riding the Bolt, I want to sell all my gear and start over!
Just get a second hand Bolt 115 2019 but I have to wait 2 months for warmer weather. I'm pretty curious about how effective she is compared to my good old Free diamond 77 under 20knots.
