Has anyone ever had an Airbag deploy on them? How big are they? The reason why I'm asking is because I'm scared of airbags they make me really nervous.
Ashley Hutchison as long as you’re not super close to the steering wheel or dashboard it’s not too rough. it also happens REALLY fast you won’t even realize the airbags deployed due to the fact that the accident will be a lot to take in and process. apparently the newer airbags will inflate more or less depending on the position of the seat and the weight. the airbags honestly rlly helped w my accident because including my seatbelt i felt v secure and like i wasn’t jolted around too much since like i had airbags everywhere lol. it’s wild.
The key is to be far enough away from the airbag (ie at least 10 inches) and have your seat belt on and tight. The idea is the airbag will be finished deploying before you even touch it. The danger comes if you are very close to the airbag, so that the airbag will hit you while it's still deploying. If you watch crash tests with crash test dummies, you can see what I mean when I say the airbag is finished deploying before you hit them.
I like this video. It shows what happens to the section of the dashboard (passenger side) when the airbag deploys. It just flips backward. So does the panel in the center of the steering wheel. No one I asked knew, and the other videos I've seen never mentioned it or showed a good angle. Thanks!
On a lot of newer vehicles there's no separate panel that opens up - there's a hidden weakened area in the dashboard material that the airbag just breaks through when it deploys.
@@pilot9412 yeah, the 03-06 Mercedes Sprinter had a 3 passenger Bench Seat, but this Dodge Sprinter had 2 Bucket Seats so that compartment was basically useless

I have seen people walk away with no injuries, and then I have seen some get banged up pretty bad. Wonder how it would be if you where wearing big sunglasses?
Violeta Balkanska the airbags have vents in the back so when they inflate they don't explode. They start to deflate a little but on their own over time
is it possible for airbags to deploy after an accident like in my car the front one are deployed but the Curtion airbags are remaining is it possibe for then to deploy without scanning or doing anyting to my car when i crash my car from door side??
I know this is 5 years later, but yes it is possible. Most modern cars have SRS computers programmed to deploy any remaining airbags should there be any more collisions with the car after the initial one. Such example would be a pileup on ice
When I had my accident, the sound of my airbags deploying was a lot scarier than the actual impact lol
I can't even remember the sound of the impact as all I heard were the airbags.

It's designed to protect a passenger in the middle seat as well. This van doesn't have one but many do.

This was a sprinter work van. It belonged to My Plumber. They donated it for this air bag demonstration and then it went to NVCC Automotive Program.
