100% agreed SA had gang wars taking enemy territories expanding your own GSF gang, it had 3 cities + desert + countryside (loved parachuting from mount chiliad and the chiliad challenges), buying properties all over SA, taking over Madd Dogg's mansion from the Vagos, 6 different cloth shops with wider variety of clothing than 4 and 5 (in SA Victim was my most fav especially the cool Biker Jacket) , in SA dating Barbara a cop you get the cool cop outfit and never lose weapons when arrested again, arcade games like go go space monkey (i got top score 20,000 there are three others) and playing pool in the bar, killing the opponent you get the pool stick you can use as a weapon, building muscles and stamina and learning 3 different fighting styles in gyms (LS = boxing, LV = mma, SF = Kung Fu), barber shops, tattoos, driving trains and tanks and the story is amazing CJ grows from a gangster to a rich and powerful business man who sets up his own casino with Woozie and pulls out a heist on rival casino and out smarts the biggest mob boss in 3D era Salvatore Leon, Big Smoke's betrayal was shocking breaking into his crack den and fighting his army and killing him for revenge and then the big Chase after Tenpenny what a story, in Green Saber when Sweet told CJ to save himself CJ said "I ain't running out on my brothers, yo Ballas I am taking you down, I am taking you all down" what a great committed character, characters like Niko are ready made you hear about their off screen war and only play a part of their life but with CJ you raise him like a son, also so many other features like races (cars, bikes, planes and boats) and so many side stuff my most fav being Burglary mission you can even rob gang houses and rival gang attacks you and also completing $10,000 (you can take breaks, total is cound) gives you infinite stamina and SA retained Manhunt's cool knife stealth mechanism and introduced the revolutionary swimming mechanism used till date in modern Rockstar games like RDR 2. GTA San Andreas is one of the prime example when you properly manage your project with good planning and execution, something that modern devs often lack about. Of course there will be still bugs, but the sheer amount of things to do, overcome the flaws of the game.
I feel like most of these things were also meant to be in GTA 5 but were cut for some reason. I know for a fact that buying houses was a planned feature but it was cut. Maybe it had something to do with the online mode? They were also working on single player dlcs but we never got them. I wonder how many things were planned to be in the game that never made it.

GTA V ain't bad but i still feel more joy while playing GTA SA. I grew up with it and it's still fun playing it. I pretty much do it regulary, always coming back to it after some time. I can't say the same about GTA V tho, i got kinda bored of it right now. Still a good game, but something different, can't really compare them in my eyes. I would also say GTA SA is better if i had to choose.
Yes, gta 5 is not a bad game at all, the thing is it would have made better by adding like accessing multiple interiors, buyable assets and safehouses, eating, workout in gym, sidemissions and stuffs like that from san andreas

just finished GTA SA for the second time after playing it first in my childhood days… i thought i used to find the game great because of nostalgia but i was proven wrong. more than anything, the characters were easily the best in any GTA game and all the side activities were a cherry on top. the story progression and character building is insane, i don’t think rockstar will ever be able to replicate gta sa’s magic ever again. gta 4 and 5 are great games too but i don’t think they match SA. online saved 5 otherwise it would’ve died really quick

When I saw they removed those features I immediately lost interest in the game. I remember getting in a cop car ready to do vigilante missions and then nope, They cut it and replaced it with..The ability to drive around all day.
I couldn’t even get into GTA V just cuz of how much better San Andreas was. San Andreas had girlfriends you could date, driving/flying school, vigilante missions, firefighter missions, paramedic missions, valet missions, taxi missions, pimp missions, Could drive the train, Could workout and improve stats, Could dress as a cop and use a cop car to gain entry to the police station parking garages, Could tag grafitti spots, could start gang wars, Could have sex (hot coffee scene), Could rob houses and do burglary missions, Could do lowrider missions, Could do street races in story mode, Could eat at restaurants and fast food places, Could use jetpack in story mode, Radio was also way better etc SA will always hold a special place in my heart. I’ll never forget flying around area 69 to get my pilot license while listening to Free Bird 🛩️ It was simply a way better game.

Later cars from San Andreas Super Sport Series and onwards allows you to have a huge deep customization with liveries that resembles real life motorsport liveries and references to movies and TV shows Los Santos Tuners has cars that are hugely customizable complete with interior customization such as racing seats, racing doors and racing interior something that also applied before in January 2016 update and Import/Export meaning that you can make your cars look like racing cars from touring disciplines like rally, DTM, Super GT (formerly known as JGTC) and FIA WEC cars. One car, Maxwell Asbo you can make the car look like a rice burner complete with subwoofers. Of course literally most of JDM cars can do this. The Cheburek which is based in Lada VAZ 2109 can apply cardboard parts making it a cardboard rice burner.

Gta V has a boring story, no gang wars, minimal npc randomness, much less character customization, less charismatic characters(most of it is just Trevor), a big ass map with like 80% countryside with pretty much nothing to do, no dual weilding.... You wanna continue? If GTA SA was released around the time of GTA V, it would have vaporized GTA V outta existence. Don't underestimate a game because it was made in 2004 and for PS2, back then the devs didn't have high performance hardware. It still kicks GTA V's ass in many ways as I mentioned above(even this goddamn video tries to say that). GTA SA and 4 will always be the best. GTA V was intended as a money grab. Many things that you were "free" to do in GTA San Andreas are available in GTA V but not in the base game. You have to go Online and grind away to get new safehouses and additional content and missions (most of them you must do with other real people), or spend real money on Shark cards, and that can add up pretty quickly every time they release new content for GTA Online. You can also pay up every month for a GTA+ subscription which also has its own exclusive content, and even things that were previously available without a subscription, like many vehicles that were recently taken out from the stores in the game. At this point any reasonable person should expect that GTA VI, if it ever gets released, will be even worse. You'd need to pay up for a lot of things to enjoy the game, or be left out. Unfortunately nobody will ever give a damn since nobody did when EA began the whole paid DLC and microtransaction schemes and the industry followed suit, and every game looking forward will be extortion disguised as subscriptions. That's why many games today are also dependent of online services, so in the future you can never go back to them to enjoy yourself if you don't wanna pay for their new crap, and even the ESA actively works in preventing archivists from preserving old games.

I'm sure during development they were changed to only be able to be bought on GTA Online. Multiplayer in GTA IV was fun just as it was without the need to buy stuff, so there was no reason to change that formula unless the intention was to make money from the get go.
With improved technology over the years many game developers over the years have fallen into the trap of becoming more focused on style over substance. Style isn't bad but it definitely seems as though the more game developers can do with visual effects the less creative they become with immersive details, video games are not like movies where everything must be presented to you directly in a streamlined fashion. What makes San Andreas special is how many hidden mechanics exist for the player to notice or find, create a world packed with content to explore and trust that players will want the satisfaction of finding it for themselves. I feel GTA VI has a good chance because RDR2 was a strong step in the right direction, if they expand more on that level of creativity and bring that back to GTA then GTA VI will be the best, and not just for a mainstream audience.
Every aspect of SA is better than GTA 5 aside from graphics and game mechanics (how it feels to shoot or drive for example). But in terms of everything else, SA is undeniably the best GTA.

IDK if it's only a GTA Online thing or not, but the train actually stops at a point near the windmills. Hopefully GTA 6 will build more from the GTA Online stuff, because in this debate some stuff is present there, and it's pretty neat (car customization is way better in GTAO than simple GTA 5, Liveries exist too, lowriders are a thing, etc.)

Legends know customization, Night Racing themed liveries and tuning had craze and it was peak in 90's which is the timeline GTA San Andreas story was set on and GTA V timeline is different so there are no such options that is detailing. but yes, it would be great if they've added taking fictional liberty

just finished GTA SA for the second time after playing it first in my childhood days… i thought i used to find the game great because of nostalgia but i was proven wrong. more than anything, the characters were easily the best in any GTA game and all the side activities were a cherry on top.
the story progression and character building is insane, i don’t think rockstar will ever be able to replicate gta sa’s magic ever again. gta 4 and 5 are great games too but i don’t think they match SA. online saved 5 otherwise it would’ve died really quick

When I saw they removed those features I immediately lost interest in the game. I remember getting in a cop car ready to do vigilante missions and then nope, They cut it and replaced it with..The ability to drive around all day.

I couldn’t even get into GTA V just cuz of how much better San Andreas was. San Andreas had girlfriends you could date, driving/flying school, vigilante missions, firefighter missions, paramedic missions, valet missions, taxi missions, pimp missions, Could drive the train, Could workout and improve stats, Could dress as a cop and use a cop car to gain entry to the police station parking garages, Could tag grafitti spots, could start gang wars, Could have sex (hot coffee scene), Could rob houses and do burglary missions, Could do lowrider missions, Could do street races in story mode, Could eat at restaurants and fast food places, Could use jetpack in story mode, Radio was also way better etc
SA will always hold a special place in my heart. I’ll never forget flying around area 69 to get my pilot license while listening to Free Bird 🛩️

In the part of customization section in GTA V there are things that gets proceed with the updates:
Lowriders update allows you to put hydraulics and apply stereo subwoofers to the car and resemble an actual lowrider.
Later cars from San Andreas Super Sport Series and onwards allows you to have a huge deep customization with liveries that resembles real life motorsport liveries and references to movies and TV shows
Los Santos Tuners has cars that are hugely customizable complete with interior customization such as racing seats, racing doors and racing interior something that also applied before in January 2016 update and Import/Export meaning that you can make your cars look like racing cars from touring disciplines like rally, DTM, Super GT (formerly known as JGTC) and FIA WEC cars.
One car, Maxwell Asbo you can make the car look like a rice burner complete with subwoofers. Of course literally most of JDM cars can do this.
The Cheburek which is based in Lada VAZ 2109 can apply cardboard parts making it a cardboard rice burner.

If GTA SA was released around the time of GTA V, it would have vaporized GTA V outta existence. Don't underestimate a game because it was made in 2004 and for PS2, back then the devs didn't have high performance hardware. It still kicks GTA V's ass in many ways as I mentioned above(even this goddamn video tries to say that). GTA SA and 4 will always be the best. Let's see if GTA 6 can defeat these legendary games and be the best GTA ever!

GTA V was intended as a money grab. Many things that you were "free" to do in GTA San Andreas are available in GTA V but not in the base game. You have to go Online and grind away to get new safehouses and additional content and missions (most of them you must do with other real people), or spend real money on Shark cards, and that can add up pretty quickly every time they release new content for GTA Online. You can also pay up every month for a GTA+ subscription which also has its own exclusive content, and even things that were previously available without a subscription, like many vehicles that were recently taken out from the stores in the game.
At this point any reasonable person should expect that GTA VI, if it ever gets released, will be even worse. You'd need to pay up for a lot of things to enjoy the game, or be left out. Unfortunately nobody will ever give a damn since nobody did when EA began the whole paid DLC and microtransaction schemes and the industry followed suit, and every game looking forward will be extortion disguised as subscriptions. That's why many games today are also dependent of online services, so in the future you can never go back to them to enjoy yourself if you don't wanna pay for their new crap, and even the ESA actively works in preventing archivists from preserving old games.

@@ExplodingCreeper69 It was always intended to be a cash grab. The first ever apartments you could buy in GTA Online are also present in the base game, you can access them with mods. I'm sure during development they were changed to only be able to be bought on GTA Online. Multiplayer in GTA IV was fun just as it was without the need to buy stuff, so there was no reason to change that formula unless the intention was to make money from the get go.

With improved technology over the years many game developers over the years have fallen into the trap of becoming more focused on style over substance.
Style isn't bad but it definitely seems as though the more game developers can do with visual effects the less creative they become with immersive details, video games are not like movies where everything must be presented to you directly in a streamlined fashion.
What makes San Andreas special is how many hidden mechanics exist for the player to notice or find, create a world packed with content to explore and trust that players will want the satisfaction of finding it for themselves.
I feel GTA VI has a good chance because RDR2 was a strong step in the right direction, if they expand more on that level of creativity and bring that back to GTA then GTA VI will be the best, and not just for a mainstream audience.

Both games are VERY different, both have their strenghts and flaws, so in my opinion it's dumb to say that SA is better than V or viceversa

If you have ever played GTA V fr, you would see how much the game has improved and how much things the developers added to the game.
