''Moldovan music'' is basically part of the Romanian music. Carla's Dreams, Dan Balan, Irina Rimes, Cleopatra Stratan, etc. are/were all signed to romanian music labels, are making their music in Romania, they live in Romania and are part of the Romanian music industry. I think all of them have romanian citizenship too, as they are romanian ethnics. For example, Carla's Dreams is a band that has members from both Romania and R. Moldova, are based in Romania for like 6 years now, all of their hits were made in Romania, they are signed to a romanian music label, etc. Irina Rimes became big in Romania. Dan Balan and O-Zone became big and internationally famous from Romania and not from R. Moldova. And so on...
Many people from R. Moldova (territory that used to be part of Romania till WW2 and where Romanian is also spoken) are trying to become artists in Romania, because of the same language, the fact that gives them access to a far bigger market and because the romanian music industry is far more famous and has the capability of making you big internationally too.
That's something we can't deny because Romania has existed for a longer time than Moldova, which is half Romanian half Russian, but as any nationality it doesn't mean we have to forget those artists were born in Moldova so they are Moldavian first. Also Carla's Dreams sings in russian, personally don't know pure romanian singers who sings in russian (am I wrong ?).
And I'm not sure but we don't have Moldavian labels so artists don't really have the choice to sign in Romania.
Don't have anything against Romanians, just appreciate when we name a cat a cat.
What is half Romanian half Russian? Are you unstupid to say like that?! FACT: ca. 5 (five)% of Moldova population are Russians, starting to be colonised here in last about 150 years. Did you know that a whole consists from two halves only? A half (Ro. jumătate) is not the same with a part (Ro. parte). Who does care in this case that Romania has existed for a longer time than R.Moldova, if both of them are populated by the same people with the same language and the discussion is about music? Who does care that Castilla kingdom as a state is older than Spain?! Carla's Dreams sings also in English, in addition to his native Romanian, and what? It means we have not to forget who these artists are, and, after all, if necessarily, where they were born, so most of them are Romanians first, no matter where they were born and why they left their birth place.

Moldova was separeted in 2 , one part it is in Romania and the other part they have their own country so you can say that they are romanians too they have just some accent

Moldovans can understand and speak pure romanian, and some of them know russian and can just understand, not speak in romanian. Moldovans speak the same language as romanians just at romanian lessons in school, almost never with other people.

Pavel Stratan is very well known in Moldova and Romania, in general for his "comic" music, I would say, but also lyrics that touch your heart. For a foreigner who doesn't know the Romanian language well, Pavel Stratan doesn't really reach their soul , but Cleopatra is more "international", she has released a song since she was 3 years old

Omg, Cleopatra Stratan... She was actually super popular ever since she was a kid! I didn't know she continued her singing career until now! Her first single is "Ghita", I think she was like 5 or 6 then??. But she has shown interest in performing even earlier, as she grew up around her father who is also a pretty popular artist! I'd love to see your reaction to her very first song, especially since you've seen this one already. Also any song by her father, Pavel Stratan, they're super good.
All songs are produced by romanian labels. Artists are moldovan with romanian citizenship.
That's because in Moldova they don't concentrate on music and don't have many record labels that will garantee them succes.
So, moldovians are actually romanians. Moldova was part of Romania a log time and the majority of people there consider themselves romanians. They speak romanian with an accent. After the WWII Moldova became a part of the comunist Russia and in the 90s they gain their independence. A lot of them want to unite with Romania. That's why the music is very similar and romanian music is listent in Moldova and vice verca.

For your information Cleopatra's father is a singer too and she made a clip when she was 3 (grown with her songs and especially this one - Ghita) and I think they wanted to redo something similar now that she is much older. We didn't really heard a lot about her for 10 years I think.
