    Everyone colors differently. I love detail but I also love things that are different. These fish are so cute and I love the way you colored them. Now I can practice with your video. I just need the white pen. Keep up the good work and keep coloring for us.....♥️

    I’m kinda late to the party but so glad I found you! I struggle horribly with depression, anxiety & panic attacks and have been trying to put pen (pencil) to paper for over a year BUT your video gave me the confidence to do so and I’m amazed at the results 🤭 I can’t thank you enough. Your work is beautiful & has been inspirational for me. Of course I’ve subscribed 😄 and can’t wait to check out your other videos. Warmest wishes to you and yours from Scotland xx

    I love how you colored these fish. I will try to do this page similarly. This book has too much detail to color for my taste, but I like that you colored the entire fish with different shades that blend together seamlessly.

      Thank you! 😊 I wasn't a fan of the detail as well, so I decided to give my fishes more of a glassy look! Loved the results! Glad you liked it! Please, share with me once you're done on instagram (@davlinaart) or my Facebook group: m.facebook.com/groups/colorAlongWithDavlina/

    How do you decide on your colors? You put together colors I wouldn't necessarily think of, and your combinations are so great!

    • @DavlinaArt
      @DavlinaArt  8 лет назад +2

      Oh thank you! After coloring for a while now, putting colors together comes kinda easily to me. I do get stuck sometimes, at which time, I usually look at the color wheel, or google for a picture of a "fish" for example. That gives me ideas on what to use next. I hope that helped!

    • @DavlinaArt

      I didn't have a black gel pen when i did this picture so I just picked a black pen that I had near me :)

  • @DebraQuenqua
    @DebraQuenqua 8 лет назад +1

    how do you get your white gel pen to go over the pencil so easily? I have the same one and it is hard to get it to work smoothly over the prismacolor pencils.

    • @DavlinaArt
      @DavlinaArt  8 лет назад +2

      I have that problem sometimes. Try them on another paper and when the gel starts coming out smoothly, then use them over your picture. Hope that helps!

  • @calia386
    @calia386 7 лет назад +3

    I have found another way to get a really nice glossy glittery feel. When you are done coloring, go over your picture with clear glitter nail Polish, It will make it look shiny and glittery, or you can use clear nail Polish without the glitter. You can use other brushes to just make dots and speckles with the nail Polish.

    Just a thought but if you used a rubber instead of the white pen for highlights, it might give an even more realistic look. Great work by the way.

    • @DavlinaArt
      @DavlinaArt  8 лет назад

      When you say rubber, do you mean if i erased the color. I'm not sure what you mean :)
      Thank you for watching and liking my work!

    • @capyboppy
      @capyboppy 8 лет назад

      Davlina Art yes the poster means a rubber. It gives a very realistic gleam. I use the Derwent battery eraser. I first thought why on earth would anyone use a battery eraser apart from dexterity issues. It is so good, in particular for doing this sort of thing. I was going to post an example but there is no way to do this.you erase away part of the colour.

    • @gurneymcbuzzin5066
      @gurneymcbuzzin5066 8 лет назад +1

      Davlina Art Sorry I missed your reply.. Capyboppy is correct.Just erase part of the colour and the Derwent is a great eraser for this.

      I used prismacolor pencils for coloring and uniball signo white gel pen for the line. Both of them don't bleed through. Here are the affiliate links if you wish to buy them:

      I was looking for a way to create the glassy / gem look. I wasn't able to do that by coloring in the details.

      pesto12601 Just as well it wasn't done for you then. Maybe you live in Arizona and have never seen a fish in real life Most of the detail you can't see until the light reflects off of certain parts. I think the fish look a lot closer to life than most people do for the reason that you find a negative but it is always going to be hard to please someone who only sees a fish when it's covered in bread crumbs.

      Oh and “ wanted to ask you, I saw a tutorial where some one used a dab of baby oil like you did the gamsol... nor for this picture, but I use very little, gamsol less "oily?" when used?

    • @DavlinaArt
      @DavlinaArt  7 лет назад

      I'm not sure, please tag me so i can see your work!
      Yes, i've heard of people using "baby oil". I personally didn't like it precicely because of the oiliness and it would ruin the other pictures on the book.
      I just use "gamsol". But my new love is "soft pastels". They are very easy to use and quick. I've several videos where I use that for my backgrounds.

    • @kittyshaw6363
      @kittyshaw6363 7 лет назад +1

      so I just went to Blicks art store and picked up some pastels, gamsol and yes MORE pencils lol. so I asked, the reason you want to not use baby oil is because although an oil, gamsol has alcohol in it, so the oil isn't as greasy, nwont go thru ur paper as easy:)
