Such a shame that DW's career has to come to an end with these nagging injuries. No doubt that David will be in the Mets Hall Of Fame and in Cooperstown. God Bless You, David!
His numbers are much better than say Ryne Sanberg so maybe he does have a shot. Being a good guy doesn't hurt his odds. That being said, if Scott Rolen only got 10% of the vote, then I suppose Wright's chances are not good.
@@Grimmes12 Respect to the both of you. Im a die hard mets fan but will forever respect Derek Jeter for what he brought to the game, and New York City/Tri-State area.
Quality player, quality person for the METS on and off the field. A TRUE METS ICON. Had it not been for the damm injuries, he would have been HALL of FAME bound.
I Still miss seein #5 at 3b...he was our heart & soul for many years! Thanx for all the memories David U were a class act on & off the field!!! god bless...
Yes. He's "retiring" at the end of the season, playing one more game in about 2 weeks, on the 29th. I'm putting retiring in quotes because if he straight up retires, he walks away from $27M. Both sides are going to work out an arrangement, but for all intents and purposes he's retiring.
Here are the facts about reyes the virus 1) 2007 and 2008 biggest collapses in MLB history Reyes hit under 200 during both collapses and made everyone lose focus and urgency . 2) the blue jays were under 500 with reyes then they got rid of him and they started to win and went to the ALCS 2 years in a row 3) after the Rockies aquired reyes in 2015 they got 20 games worse that same year 4)The Marlins got rid of Reyes in the first year of a 5 year contract 5)2017 mets underachieving disaster 22 games under 500 with Reyes 6)2018 once again disaster, overall 43 games under 500 since Reyes returned Reyes is the rare athlete that infects guys around him his laughing and overall personality doesn't allow guys to have the right mindset to perform at their highest capabilities which is why the biggest collapses in history happened with Reyes . it's been 2 decades of the same disaster result.
#5 should be retired from the Mets... and hung up in the rafters... there won't be another like David Wright.
no doubt.
Can’t believe it hasn’t happened yet.
I think it will. I think they will give him the time he needs to prepare for it.
I've been a Mets fan for over 50 years. This guy was the classiest and my personal favorite Met ever!
D B great choice also
Such a shame that DW's career has to come to an end with these nagging injuries. No doubt that David will be in the Mets Hall Of Fame and in Cooperstown. God Bless You, David!
HE WILL GO IN METS HALL FAME.BUT NOT IN COOPERSTOWN HE DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH YEARS
His numbers are much better than say Ryne Sanberg so maybe he does have a shot. Being a good guy doesn't hurt his odds. That being said, if Scott Rolen only got 10% of the vote, then I suppose Wright's chances are not good.
HE'S LIKE DONNY BASEBALL GOOD NUMBERS .NOT ENOUGH YEARS !!!
Mr. Danceman he has enough years he debuted in 2004 you only need to play in 10 season to be eligible for the HOF
yes but the ten years he had 6 great years .....just like donny baseball
He's always the captain even after this. Gonna miss him after the season ends. Thanks for all you do David Wright.
This is hard to watch. I love him so much
tears running down my face. One of the last guys who played the "right way". Such an inspiration as a fan, player, and humanitarian.
Thank you for being a great guy Wright.🙏
As a fellow diehard Yankee fan, I double that. RE5PECT
@@Grimmes12 Respect to the both of you. Im a die hard mets fan but will forever respect Derek Jeter for what he brought to the game, and New York City/Tri-State area.
@@rdavis001315 Jeets and D-Wright were both class acts and gave it all for our city. Those guys will be forever missed.
@@Grimmes12 its not everyday you see a mets and yankees fan coming together haha. Best of luck to the Bronx Bombers this year bud.
@@rdavis001315 so true and likewise!
A class act A great model . A great player in his prime . Thank you David Wright for all the years you entertain us Mets fans
A player that I will truly miss. Loved the way he played the game!
we're all crying with you David.. we love you.
He deserved a world series ring!
His last great moment- that 1st inning HR in Game 3. That WS was such a letdown.
Thank you Captain 🧡💙🧡
Thank You David i let out some tears watching mets game on tv i am so Happy he is retiring as a mets player
Quality player, quality person for the METS on and off the field. A TRUE METS ICON. Had it not been for the damm injuries, he would have been HALL of FAME bound.

I love you David Wright 💙🧡
As a Nats Fan I loved him even what he did to us in 15 enjoy retirement Mr. Met
MY FAV MET OF ALL TIME !!!!
you will be missed by me and many mets fans lets go mets
One of the best David Wright moments was after the Utley slide and him staring into the dodgers dugout. Not hiding the fact that it was a dirty play
Ironic because Wright performed the same slide on Utley years prior.
I’m going to that game. The place is gonna be PACKED!
Retire this man's number! Always our captain!
D Wright! The best ever!
Not a Mets fan but I have mad respect for David Wright. HOF here he comes no doubt
He will be a great coach
Sorry it had to end this way Cap, you will be missed.
Hat tip to David.
As a yankee fan, I salute to David Wright.
Wish we got him a chip. But still my favorite met ever. God bless
Jauco takes his hat off...... will miss u.....you are my D.J #2
I hope the Mets keep David and groom him to be our future manger.
So sad. Life just is not fair.
The main reason I became a Mets fan as a kid was because of DW.
I grew up in the 757 too so that made it easier lol.
Honestly I became a met fan bcuz of him. This is really hard to watch.
David I can’t wait to see you back on citi field
I mean, when he did a really good job at work, he got covered in Gatorade. That is hard to give up.
Women cry over titanic*
Men cry over 0:00
💙🧡
He decides to play with the Mets one last time
Jesus Christ loves You :)
Retire # 5 now!
Is he done
Yes. He's "retiring" at the end of the season, playing one more game in about 2 weeks, on the 29th. I'm putting retiring in quotes because if he straight up retires, he walks away from $27M. Both sides are going to work out an arrangement, but for all intents and purposes he's retiring.
Im not crying, your crying.... ;(
Steve Rogers who? David’s the real Captain America!!!! 👨✈️
Man his Jersey deserves to be retired. It’s the least a hof player deserves. Hof carrer cut short due to injuries. What could’ve been.
Reminds me of Tavares.... Oof if only he stayed loyal.
i knew i would see this comment somewhere
Cole Healy why is that
Don't
Great player. Just on the wrong team.
If there was a HOF for stealing money, David Wright would be my first selection.
?
Ain't got no love for Bobby Bonilla and the West Coast Mets?
Here are the facts about reyes the virus
1) 2007 and 2008 biggest collapses in MLB history Reyes hit under 200 during both collapses and made everyone lose focus and urgency .
2) the blue jays were under 500 with reyes then they got rid of him and they started to win and went to the ALCS 2 years in a row
3) after the Rockies aquired reyes in 2015 they got 20 games worse that same year
4)The Marlins got rid of Reyes in the first year of a 5 year contract
5)2017 mets underachieving disaster 22 games under 500 with Reyes
6)2018 once again disaster, overall 43 games under 500 since Reyes returned
Reyes is the rare athlete that infects guys around him his laughing and overall personality doesn't allow guys to have the right mindset to perform at their highest capabilities which is why the biggest collapses in history happened with Reyes . it's been 2 decades of the same disaster result.
I was wondering when you'd show up
