See a lot of my childhood scattered around your desk, please keep the videos coming so I can share with my kids as you seem to be a great example of an intelligent and articulate young man. Thanks for the content!
Fantastic video! I made the mistake of taking off my nozzle when the extruder hotend was too cold and I accidentally snapped one of the screws holding it in place. Wish I would've watched your video before I tried removing it myself. Thanks for the "straight to the point" video, extremely helpful!
Most helpful video about this- because the other video (by Elegoo I believe) showed the extruder had to be taken apart (remove the cover and fans). This video was the simplest and straight to the point. And thanks, I did what you showed and changed my nozzle (was printing all sorts of things almost 24-7 for months now).
Thanks! I am glad you found it useful. The elegoo video is pretty complex, and only really applies to their Neptune 4 Max and Plus printers. I find it really strange that they didn't make a video of their own.
I didn’t know about how moving the servos too fast can damage the motherboard. I have a N3P but I’m glad I clicked on this video. I’ve been troubleshooting my mobo that broke after I was moving it around
I am glad it helped! Good luck with your mobo, if the back EMF from spinning the motors manually damaged it, you could look into replacing the stepper motor drivers.
I just got the Neptune 3 Pro a few months ago and wanted to swap nozzles. This is the only video that I could find that shows how. Thank you for this. The N3P print head is exactly the same style if not the exact same head. As a side note, I also took the plastic housing off mine which has the 2 side fans. This allowed me to clean them out as some dust webs were starting to form. Do this before heating up the nozzle. It only involves removing 2 small hex screws then pulling the power plugs from each side fan. The wrenches came with my printer to do this.
I bought my Neptune 4 Pro about three weeks ago, and was wondering what it was going to take to change the nozzle. This is so much easier than my Neptune 2 or any one of my past printers. Thanks so much for the tip! Your new sub, Buck
Thanks for giving the details on the tightness of the nozzle when torquing. This helped a lot, I wasn't sure if there was a piece I had to take a part within the assembly (there is a brass stem the comes out from the heatblock, which is why I came here. To see that you can just take it off from it being still connected and on, was surprising. I thought I was going to have to take a heatgun to it.
Just a clarification because my friend made this mistake, make sure you dont put the pliers on the thermistor, located on the upper right hand of the hotend block, you are likely to shatter the ceramic that holds it on and you will get thermal runaway
Hey, Ben. I watched your report on the Neptune 4 after run in time. Very unbiased, informative, and well presented. I'll be watching the out two shortly. I think I'm leaning towards that printer. Oh, and 73
Thank you for the no-nonsense step by step approach. I was very happy that there wasn't 30 seconds of intro crap to watch. Keep it up. You're gonna do big things. Bigly. Maga! 😂
Thank you Ben! You should check out Elegoo's directions on this, then send them a link to your video. Yours was so much easier! They want to to remove the cover, remove a fan, etc. Also, can you link that nozzle in this video as well? It would make it easier to find. Using your video, I switched out for a 0.2 for some really fine work. Thanks again!
I noticed you mentioned you have a CHT hardened steel nozzle... I would really like to get one of those, but its seems the manufacturer only sells regular flow hardened steel, and the only 3rd parties that sell them for the Neptune 4 Pro are overseas and will not ship to the US. How did you get yours? So far this is my biggest gripe about the machine... the proprietary nozzles. And if they're going to make a high speed 3D printer and market it as such, shouldn't they offer OEM high flow nozzles?
This is easier than the "official' methode on the Elegoo channel. I measured the block and decided to use a 9mm spanner instead of pliers and before i fed i the filament i first adjusted my Z offset and i did a pressure advance test after that, because i had put off replacing the nozzle for so long it was totally worn out.
can you put a link to where you got that nozzle. I was looking yesterday but they have 3000 different ones and not sure on which one to order it would be greatly appreciated and have a great and wonderful new year
Thanks! When I first bought my nozzles, there were two different lisings. Crazy how many there are now. Pretty much any of the ones you see with reviews and decent quantities sold are fine. The ones I personally bought are these ones: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006097943428.html?
ty and do does it have to be the longer one because some say Neptune four and four pro but they’re shorter. I’m thinking it Hass to be the longer one. Thank you for your reply. Hope you have a great day.
Thank you, Ben! great video! I got a question, is that nozzle a good upgrade? I have never purchased a new nozzle and I just changed mine with the one that was provided in the box. if it's a good upgrade, which brand did you get? Thanks!
Question Ben. The nozzle replacement to CHT hardened steel is still the .02 in size? I order a .04 it and not sure it will work without any problems. I’m new to this 3D printing stuff and your videos are really useful. I bought the Neptune 4 pro because of your review (and another RUclipsrs review.) Keep up the great work.
Hey ben. Nice Simple video. I was hoping you can make a tutorial for enabling time lapse using fluidd. The entire setup on how to install it etc. Would be great. Thanks
Thanks for the great video Ben, me and my son were struggling to figure out why our Neptune 4 plus was printing like garbage after only using it since Christmas. Turns out the nozzle has a chunk of filament stuck in it. Question for you- Can the filament be removed somehow or is there a site we should just pick up some new nozzles from? is there a brand you like or would recommend? Also when this printer is printing hatch X infill I hear the nozzle hitting the plastic. is that the Z height to tight to the bed on adjustment?
Elegoo website has the nozzles and they offer a nozzle size assortment. I ordered the assortment and I got 10 brass nozzles plus cleaning needles and a stamped wrench for around $10 USD.
Hey Ben, GREAT Video. I just got the Neptune 4 Pro for Christmas/Birthday (3 days apart). The unpacking, assembly, alignment and test print went perfect. Elegoo did a nice job with instructions and of course the pre-watching of RUclips videos also helped. I am using the hardwired Ethernet connection and my home server sees it. The only issue that I have encountered is logging into the Ultimaker account, that is the only roadblock that I have encountered. I need to try again today. I was unable to select "Skip" to get to the 3D printer selection list and after trying a few times I gave up. I see that there is a firmware update already, so I need to get this issue resolved. Again, GREAT Video! Oh, one question... how many hours do you get out of a nozzle?
Thank you so much! For printing non abrasive filaments (PLA, PETG, ABS, etc.) you can expect a few thousand hours. I am sure there are people with more hours on a certain nozzle, but the only real need to swap is if you get a really bad clog you can't undo or if you are going to print abrasives. Abrasive filaments need the hardened steel nozzle, which I do not know how long will last. Like many commenters said on me review video, you can also try OrcaSlicer, which I recently installed and have had success with. They say it improves print quality and has a stock profile for the Neptune 4 Pro, So I would definitely give that a try if you keep having issues with your ultimaker account.
Hey Ben you seem really knowledgeable and must say your video was clear and straight forward. SUPER easy for a novice like me to follow. I have a couple questions for you. First about Orca Slicer, I can't get it to identify any of the projects I download. when i try to put it into the Orca Slicer it just doesn't show up, neither .sti or .3mf. Have you had that happen to you? Second I have a Neptune 4 with the extra fan "wall" on it. I currently don't use it and have it off. Is there a reason I should be using it? Whats the benefit? Thanks for your time in advance@@BenMyhillJones
@anthonylong5870 I personally have not experienced many issues with OrcaSlicer. The X axis mounted fans are loud, but if you are printing something with lots of overhangs they can be real useful. If you don't use them you can just turn them off.
Can you give me tips or make a video about updating the firmware? I received my printer the other day and it has a very old firmware, just put the files downloaded from the website in the root of the pendrive and turn on the printer with the pendrive connected? Thanks.
Hey Ben, watch out here, I used this method a few times on my N4 Pro and now my 1.5mm screws to the heatsink are whacked. Emailed Elegoo about replacement but a huge bummer.
Thank you! This is a great video! I have the Neptune 4 Plus, I assume the nozzle is exactly the same, right? Since you have the Klipper web interface open on the PC, any chance you can do a video on how to configure the WiFi password through that interface? The reason I ask is that my WiFi password has a $ in it and that isn't an option on the keypad. I don't want to change my WiFi password because I have several things already connected to it. So any chance you can show how to do it?
I've watched your videos, I like them, they're smart, slow and pretty thought out for people like me. 3d printing 101😅. One question. What's the difference between pla+ and silk?

I can ping the printer, my server sees the printer and the Static IP that I assigned to the printer shows up on the printer display and server. Hi Ben, do you have any advice how to print PETG ? The PLA is working fine with my N4 pro, but with the petg... no luck - 240/70C - fan on/off - won't stick - it's a mess
Wierd that PLA works fine but PETG doesn't. I would try higher temperatures, 70c seems a bit low for PETG, I will go as high as 90C but for most I print between 80 and 85C. Depending on the filament you might want to go higher nozzle temp wise, I would try 250 and maybe even 260 if the adjusted bed temps don't work.
