Mark Twain: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (ENG)

The name "Mark Twain" comes from Mississippi steam boat sailors. It means "the middle mark on the rope" . Boats would use a rope to test the depth of the water in the constantly changing sands of the great american river.
If the middle mark of the rope was visible it meant there was enough water depth for the boat to travel safely forward.
Twain loved the sound of the boatmen shouting ' Mark Twain' , so he chose it as his writing name.
