But I gotta agree. All the hype building to it ahead of time not knowing when it would happen and then when it did happen for it to so dominantly deliver like it did really is another level of a debut. Yanking that door off the cage was just so cool
@@Matt-cr4vvwhat do you think was more iconic, Vince yelling "That's gotta be KANE" or Roddy Piper yelling "Look at the SIZE of that Hamcock" when Undertaker debuted at Survivor Series?..
If we’re just talking about the debut itself and not what happened to the act afterwards, I’ll go to my grave saying the Nexus debut was better than the Shields and I would put it top 10. I remember watching that night just being floored at how random that attack was and how many members they had along with their sheer viciousness of the attack. Beating up ring announcers, commentators, refs, tearing up the ring. It was jaw dropping
To me Kane and Chris Jericho’s debut are at the top. Sting’s debut to me was ruined by Bradshaw being Bradshaw and talking over it while listing all his accomplishments.
Razor Ramon's is kind of underrated. All the vignettes leading up to his debut. The way he went over. The razors edge finish. And the "if something happens to this gold, chico, something's gonna happen to you"..
You know what? I'd put Angle's debut on this list as well. From his very first night, especially with his promo in the middle of his match, he established who he was as a character right from the start. And on the fly at that.
Brock’s first year was dominant no doubt. But I’d still give it to Kurt because of when it happened. Kurt won the European, IC, WWE title and King of the Ring all in his first year on the main show but it was during a time of the most stacked roster the WWF basically ever had. Brock had a ridiculous year too no doubt - if you extend it just a couple weeks past a true year he won the wwe title twice, royal rumble, and king of the ring. But Brock did that when they were lacking Austin and Rock and actively trying to replace them and had show exclusive titles. It’s still impressive but what Kurt did with genuinely the most stacked competition he could have to do it just edges it a fraction for me over Brock - but I can get the argument for either and don’t think there’s a wrong answer per se.
In Canada, The Jericho debut was super hyped and TSN would broadcast Monday Night Raw. We had to watch the Toronto Blue Jays play 11+ innings before joining the program in progress and we JUST caught the start of the Rock's Entrance........It was 1am when it was broadcast. I never screamed so loud and got it trouble for waking up my family but they understand why :)
You hit on it at the end Solomonster. They way WWE sets up these lists is to make the current generation, the greatest of all time...i.e The Shield at #1.
The night after WrestleMania 19 The Rock says "I've beaten everybody from Austin, the Undertaker, HHH, Kurt Angle. The rock now says it's over."(invasion theme plays) "So Rock you want to know who's next A? You're next!" - Goldberg before spearing him
I’m surprised Mankind didn’t make the list. Talk about a debut. He debuted day after wrestlemania and attacks the undertaker and beats the living crap out of him.
Kane and Jericho's debuts can interchange between one and two for me. Edit: I've actually seen the video, and yes, it is main roster debuts that they are talking about. Edit2: I would have put Paige's main roster debut in place of Ronda's. She was the NXT Women's Champion and won the Divas' title her very first night.
I got to say this, Big Show's debut in WWE was awful. He accidently helps Stone Cold by throwing him out of the cage. So from day one they have him look like an idiot.
WWE stays petty so it’s no surprise that Jericho is ranked so low yet it’s top 2 best debuts ever. The debut of Miss Elizabeth should be on the list. I understand why they’ll never have this guy on any list but the Nailz debut when he beat down Big Boss Man was crazy. Mankind had a great debut match against Bob Holly plus he beat up the Undertaker at the end of RAW, but does it actually count since Mick Foley was a jobber back in the 80s? IDK.
I totally agree with Chris Jericho, Kane and Nexus as Top 3. Taz debut was way better than Lesnar's. This list is more about names than the actual debut.
I'd say Goldust debut was very hip too.. everything from the vignettes to the actual showing at Survivor Series 95 with that cinematic entrance, the camera work as be made his way to the ring... his eerie glare and the haunting yet fascinsting music as if it was some kind of Hollywood legend was just very damn cool...
Yeah Jerichos being ranked as it is just feels like they dropped it a bunch to be petty. Not sure how you’d ever have his outside of the top five really. I don’t think it has to be at the very top but I just can’t go with it being outside the top five.
Here's my top 10 Cream of the Crop Debuts: 10. John Cena 9. Goldberg 8. Big Show 7. Tazz 6. Sting 5. Ric Flair 4. The Nexus 3. The Radicals 2. Jericho 1. Kane
When I saw this as next to watch ⌚ off top Jericho and Kane debut either or could be #1 I'd say new generation debut AJ styles royal rumble Deb or sting in the WWE top 4 easily Jericho wins because can was a great mystery, sting a great loss , AJ good. But Jericho was culture changing from the switch from WCW to the funky Pop music and hair to the holographic shirt and the y2j ky jelly and all 😂🎉
Kane's Debut in 1997 was awesome glad he Debuted with the Mask Sting's Debut in 2014 was great Chris Jericho's Debut in 1999 was awesome i loved the Shield's Debut 11-years ago Umaga's Debut in 2006 was great and the name of the violinist during Shinsuke Nakamura's main Roster's debut on Smackdown is Lee England Jr.
Kane is my undisputed answer for Number 1 Greatest Debut. After him, Jericho, Tazz, AJ Styles and the Nexus would probably fill out the Top 5 (Sting was great too). I lol'd at them including The Usos and Tamina randomly, like what!? Nobody cared about that.
I forgot about the Millennium Countdown... Well, I forgot about the teases and buildup with it. That ran for a while. Yeah, I watched a lot of wrestling, and Jericho and Kane, at the top. Jericho was big, and felt big. I watched him, in WCW before, and when he came out, on WWF, I realized how underutilized he was before. I knew he was about to shine.
I watched the Usos' debut after watching this. There was a match where the Hart Dynasty beat Regal and Koslov, and the Usos slid in the ring, attacked the Harts, and each hit a big splash. Doesnt belong on the list lol.
Chyna, Luna Vachon and Lita all had great debuts. There had never been a woman like Chyna in WWE before and she just about shook the life out of Marlena. Luna came out with Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania and left Sensational Sherri in a position we rarely saw her in-laying in a pile on the floor. Lita debuted as Essa Rios' valet and mimicked his moves. The audience went crazy for her. Also, Gail Kim won the women's title in her debut match.
If you guys re watch that top 25 video, go to 7:39 There's a guy in between Khali and Taker who looks just like Tony K LOL and the guy next to him has a sox jersey so it might of been him in Chicago...
The shield is a top 5 debut imo along with nexus, jericho, and taz. Kane being at 1 is well deserving bc he literally had a perfect debut, especially for what his character was. Another name they missed on here was finn balor. He beat Roman Reigns clean on his first night and went on to win the universal championship at summerslam. At the time it was a big moment and made you think finn was their next guy.
8:20 that should be top 5 atleast. The Undertaker's debut in 1990 was a game changer. From day 1, he was a top attraction. Definitely should take the place of Ronda Rousey's debut
True, unless the list is of debuts to make fun of, don't think Ronda Rousey should be included in the list. After all, I've seen the jokes about how many times she points to the sign. 😂🤣 But yeah, I could agree with you on Kane. And I watch Wrestling Bios Reliving the War, and the best thing about Kane's debut, Paul for a little while before the HiaC went quiet. Just long enough for people to forget about the talk of Kane, and then the match, Taker is about to win and go on to fight Bret, when suddenly, lights go out, we hear Kane's music, and out he comes with Paul Bearer to rip the cage door off and attack Taker. Really, I'll feel that should have been number 1.
So no Earthquake coming out of the crowd as a plant or Hillbilly Jim coming out of the crowd as a plant but we get Santino? No Ric Flair debut around the Big Gold belt but we get Goldbergs? The Radicals debut not being acknowledged for Eddie’s debut? No Chyna but we get Rhonda’s lame debut? No Road Warriors debut? No Taz either. This shows some 20 something wwe suck up made this list.

Yeah the Shield debut at the time was certainly cool and surprising to see and if you are factoring how the careers turned out then it was a cool start of great things to come.
