I did not have a good experience with Moyer in Carmel IN. I went in there to look at the new Omega AT and while I was wondering the salesperson very loudly told his co-worker I was going to steal something in the store. I couldn’t believe it. I thanked them for their time and walked out. I immediately went and bought a Tudor at another location. So much for their $6600 watch I was going to buy.
That vintage sub is so beautiful, you just can’t beat the look of that watch , I have a birth year Rolex Explorer, cough cough 1970 , showing my age and a classic Porsche 911 and you cannot beat old classics together
I feel (and I am biased as an explorer owner) that giving up the Explorer would be an error. So many TGV videos feature it that I imagine has developed its own value that is unique and immutable. It feels intrinsically linked with the success of the channel and collaborations. I feel your subconscious is sounding the alarm. The Explorer needs to be an ‘and’ watch and not an ‘or’ part of the collection. All the best, Pete
My wife came up with a good idea this morning when I was boring her with watch talk and telling her about the continuum from sports watches to dress watches. She said it was a bit like the Spice Girls - there's a sporty one and a posh one. She said I should get a baby watch, a ginger watch and a scary watch as well. That would make a great video for you and Long Island Mark to discuss.
Welcome to the club Tristano! We get older, we get wiser and we need reading glasses…. And I bought a Navitimer recently too. And get that Rolex. Otherwise you’ll regret it.
I've been watching TGV for...years... and perhaps I've got a little complacent? His production quality is first class. The content, cinematography and soundtrack is probably the best on RUclips. When I've got free time, I plan to binge the earlier videos! Rolex, Tudor, Omega and G Shock for me! 🤩
I had to sell my Rolexes to help pay for my wife's chemotherapy and surgeries. I sold them right before the crash. The only thing I kept was the Zenith CMS. I sold all my vintage Colt revolvers also except for one four digit Gen1 that's still in the box. It's reserved for if things get ultimately worse.
That Navi is a pilots dream come true. Land, fuel up, go to the pilot’s lounge, drink some coffee and prep your next waypoint/landmark. Really important when you are just a Cessna driver with a Single Engine Land VFR (only….gotta check that Instrument Flight Rules box if you are certificated for IFR flight.) Land. All you need in flight is the clock part. You estimate your flight time , do ALL your winds aloft as well as ATIS per the automated service. Click your start pusher and take off. You get to your waypoint, note the difference between ETA & actual time in route. Use the bezel to make the correct course changes due to the difference between winds at the surface & winds aloft. The E6B (slide rule used to make flight adjustments ) is based on above info. Hope that helps. A good watch is super important for all flight applications. I think the 24 hour watch is even more superior to regular 12 hour dials . Great vid as always TGV! Thanks
5512 is an absolute must ,I’m afraid ,especially in this condition. You know how it goes - sometimes you just have to do what you have to do besides, those 3 you’ve mentioned should be just enough to get you over the line trading them for it ,so it makes perfect sense- remember as you get older quality becomes much more essential than the quantity and in fact the latter becomes a horrible burden with age . Keep up your great work and if one day you decide to visit Africa ,Cape Town is the place to visit and enjoy for a fine young gentleman like yourself ,I promise 😊
It's a true delight to see TGV returning to talk about brands I love. While I completely understand his reasons for stepping away from the modern Swiss watch scene, his insights on timepieces are as valuable to me as Clarkson’s views on cars. Though his videos on the watch world’s equivalents of Koenigseggs, Paganis, and even Dacias have been excellent, I’ve been longing to hear his thoughts on the ‘Mercedes, BMWs, and Toyotas’ of the horological world. Here's hoping for more content on Rolex, Omega, Breitling, Seiko, and the like from TGV in the future!
Love how your pure passion for watches pours out in all of the aspects of your video. You truly make it visually appealing and interesting as well. The Breitling Navitimer watches are still one of my all-time favorites too 🤩
That Rolex 5512-pure class! Your videos have inspired me to buy several watches. In a bit of a renewed honeymoon phase with my Dan Henry 1964 at the moment. Such a great piece for the price. Love the content TGV!
Ah Astoria Park. A gem of a park in the northern tip of Queens. A lot of childhood memories from the 1970-80s. Enjoyed riding my 10-speed bike out to there from the more inner region of Queens. A bike was freedom to our generation. Loved the view along the river and under the bridges. Especially the iconic Hellgate. Funny, I never did venture to Randall's Island, sadly. I regret it now since I left NYC decades ago. NYC is huge, and so much of it I never visited as a born and raised native. :(
Forrest Park was nice for a long time. Also, as bad as the housing costs are, you must admit that there are far more hot Asian women now. That matters.
Keep the Bluesy Man! I sold mine and I badly regret it! I also sold my Navitimer and regret it too. I even regret selling my IWC Ingeneur SL. You will miss the Bluesy for sure!
Glad to see your fickle nature has not changed flitting from loving one watch to the next! It makes for good viewing, although we all know how you fall in and out of love with watches in a very public way. I think the going price for a 5512 is quite a chunk of change! On the upside you will probably not have trouble getting your money out of it if you decide to flip it.... and it is a wonderful watch to have in the collection. I am placing my bet on you buying it. Maybe I can win enough to buy one too :)
Haven't watched a full video by TGV in a while....haven't had the time, but I really enjoyed this. Love that you stay true to your style and self. A great sunday morning watch. Those Navitimers take me back to being a kid and thinking that's the only watch for me. They seemed unattainable at the time.
I always regret getting rid of my 5513. Would have preferred the 5512 but didn't have the money as I was a young man. One things for sure these watches are getting really rare especially a good one. I would go with my gut feeling and snap it up. You won't loose money.
TGV, these new additions are superb! A new Navi...why am I not surprised LOL. The pair - Cosmonaut and standard Navis make a killer collection within a collection. And that Rolex in all its vintage glory is you ..brilliant on a NATO. But on the original bracelet lets you know its part of the legacy era of Submariners. Pure class as always. Congrats on the new additions. O&U
What a beautiful 5512. if it was me i would definitely take the plunge on it. Life is too short to miss out on something that special, and it will continue to age gracefully. cheers and take care as always
"Life is short." Go for the vintage Rolex and enjoy TGV. Always enjoy your journey which is so well told. (I've just completed a major thinning of my collection -- and a new piece has caught my eye so after nearly two years I'm actually excited about buying a watch).
D'altronde noi guardiamo amanti siamo tutti pazzi. Rimani in salute. 🙏👏😎🤿👨🏽✈️
My 1966 Sub has patina and dial tropicalization/destruction you feel it has been picked up in the bomb hole where Nasrallah was disposed of. Not my grail tho, that's a 1967 321, pretty severely ravaged as well ! That's how I love them, subtle giants way above the loud modern icons.
Congratulations on your new watches. You're feeling for the navi timer , the twinge in your heart, a place to go again.... I feel for a Omega Constellation-( and the Breitling Chronomat) which I have been shopping for.
TGV, I used to live in the Octogon building on Roosevelt Island, that spot where you start your video has a cool little secret garden area if you walk back into the tree line behind the soccer field, or at least, it used to!
I can only dream of owning an Explorer, let alone anything else you have. If given the chance, however, I would go for the Navitimer. Whatever you choose, we're behind you all the way!
I own the exact same reference of Navitimer- a black A23322. IMO it's the best Navitimer made - perfectly proportioned, easy to service movement and the best Navi dial lay out. Mine keeps to within 1 second a day
Congrats on the new Navitimer! My gut feeling, as wonderful as the 5512 is, I think it’s best if you kept steaming ahead to the grail and not buy the Sub. Again. Just my opinion. New Balance? Reading glasses? Father Time is unrelenting; although, you’re younger than I am. Thanks for another delightful chat. Onwards and upwards!
Once it is time for glasses your entire world changes, and so does your watch box. I remember having to sell my GMT because the 24 hour ring was tiny on the dial and it became completely unreadable. These days it is 24 hour bezels and dials with very readable numbers. Purchases are based on physical limitations, and it is only downhill from here. Welcome to the club! 😂
Depends on how you define the Sub… Is it a NEED, or a WANT? If you answered with the latter, I’d resist the temptation and move on. There will ALWAYS be another out there somewhere - especially when you’re actually on the hunt for that model specifically.
Wow, congrats and thank you. I really almost to get the blue again, but I just could not pass up this mint example. What's crazy is I was close to paying a grand more just to get that color again, crazy, but I get it. Enjoy your A23322. Thank you, 😎🥂 Best regards, TGV
Fantastic video sir. Great to see you out and about on Roosevelt Island it's even better seeing you back at Astoria Park. Being a New Balance trainer wearer (and Asics) it's great to see you back in NBs. Have a great weekend and enjoy
I bought one as my first watch back in 1978 right after I turned 18. I had discovered Bond novels, I had just joined Army intelligence and many of the NCOs and officers I worked with were Viet Nam vets who wore Rolexes as a sort of a fraternal badge. It took me a year to pay it off. Some years after I got out I traded it for some guns. More reecently, I had gotten into watch collecting and, feeling nostalgic, I looked it up and was shocked at what some were asking for it. It made me sad that, though I owned almost 40 watches, none of them was the one that had been on my wrist through some of the best (and some of the most harrowing) experiences of my life. I wonder where it is now? I say GO FOR IT,
So funny, Tristano: just last night, I bought a Seiko SARW025 (Laurel tribute) via the 'Bay, and looked up your old video reviewing it afterward. (I understood your take on it, but still wanted it anyway.) Looked at the intro to it, and thought "ah, what's past is prologue." Know the territory well, Brutalist buildings and all, and seriously glad you're back. (Oh, yeah…to paraphrase John Peterman on the need for glasses: "welcome to middle age - at least you made it this far.") Moving to the "new" Navitimer makes a lot of sense, as well as jettisoning the two-tone Sub: personally, two-tone watches do absolutely nothing for me, although your Cartier comes closest to my eyes. Seriously dig the NB digs as well! (As for your decision-making? As Frankie sang, It's Up To You.)
When I started watching your videos the Navitimer quite quickly became my grail, but that later changed to the Speedy. Maybe that switch was a subconcious concession to anticipated reading issues. 😅
I got the 5513 in ‘78 for £361. The 5512 was £430 at the time. After 6 months I took it back and said it kept very poor time. The Salesman said “well, you should have bought the 5512 sir”. I walked out very miffed. It’s time did improve a little after it’s first and only service, but would still loose 5 mins a week. Then in 2019 after it stopped completely I had it serviced at Rolex in Kent. It now keeps time to match the 5512. Its bezel is also now very ghost due to my dives in salt water.
Amazing watches. I just purchased my first mechanical but unfortunately it's from a microbrand with a limited run and it won't ship til late October. This video makes me that much more impatient for it to arrive. Thanks for another great video TGV! 🙂
ciao amico! IMO get the 5512 (even if the condition wasn’t exceptional) and don’t give up the Explorer (it’s an integral part of your professional and passion DNA) hope to cross paths one day in nyc.
Great video Tristan. Both Navitimer's are iconic and look amazing and difficult to find. I've been trying to find one of these models in good condition for the past 4 years. Unfortunately they stopped producing them and the new designs look hideous. I wish Breitlings CEO, Mr. Kern would consider reintroducing them again. As for the Rolex Sub, you can give it another thought. The submariner and explorer designs and overall look haven't changed over the years.
That 5512 will wear you instead of the other way around. You will merely be the custodian of it. You asked yourself the right questions and made the right points in the video already. Don't do it, admire it from afar! Or ignore what I said if it sounds wrong. Congrats on the beautiful Navitimer, good decision there. Best regards, Thomas
Ciao Tristano, il 5512 e' semplicemente l'orologio sportivo più bello della storia dell'orologeria, nessuno potrà mai superare la sua classe. Un orologio da intenditori..
TGV I think you absolutely have to go for the Rolex. I said to you not long ago to save the Tudor. BUT as some of the others have said when will you find another? I’m a Tudor owner and fan from way back and have gone off Rolex. I’ve just agreed a deal on my Rolex…but that one, from the time when Rolex was just the best tool watch, speaks to me and I think it does to you! Do it!
Hey TGV! I've been collecting sneakers forever and I have to say in my opinion, New Balance are the most comfortable option out there. The tactical polygon look on those ones you have are very cool as well, I didn't see the release of those! As for the submariner, Id say pull the trigger unless its going to delay the grail at all. Still curious as to what the grail is as well! I love the Cosmonaut you have for sale too, if I had a few more pennies saved up I would be very tempted to get that! Lol. Congrats on the Navitimer as well! Gorgeous watch. Thanks for the upload as always, hope you have a great rest of your weekend
Just seen the Christopher Ward Desk Diver...finally a watch with sense of humour knowingly sticking two fingers up to the world. Very funny and has made me prees the button.
Trsitano, I think you've already answered your question regarding the 5512. The stars are aligned so buy it. Thanks for the information and entertainment. Best. Mark
Congrats on the pickup, T. Saw your announcement about the NYC meetup. Hopefully one day you'll come up to visit Shreve, Crump & Low here in Boston and do a meetup here as well.
Well, the grail can always be delayed and pushed further into the future, this crossing of paths with the 5512 is a first and a pure emotion, only need check the condition inside the oil etc. also it won't be daily wear, it might just sit for sometime
These videos are always perfectly timed for my breakfast and morning coffee on a Sunday morning here in Sydney. P.s I think you should go for the subby, life is too short, when can you reasonably expect such an opportunity to come by. Bite the bullet, and perhaps trade in some less adored pieces. Blood in blood out!
Great and inspiring video TGV! Get the Rolex because the opportunity of this kind comes once in life! Pull the trigger and you will not regret it.. looking forward to your next video!
Just got a Pelagos FXD for under 3k, very good things are happening 😊
👏👏👏👏 Congrats and enjoy!!!! Talk about a score!!!!
Love this buyers market, even if my wallet will not.
Thank you for sharing that,
Best regards,
TGV
How??
Hodinkee had their LE Grand Seiko GMT for 2700 during their going out of business sale. A non HAQ for 2700 brand new? Don't mind if I do!
Why you look like a tosserrrr
@@theurbangentry What’s the name of glasses that you are wearing during your video?
"Half a decade of ownership"? I've got underwear older than that.
continuous wear I hope not
lol a daily driver ? Gada ? 😅
You aren't gonna find another 5512 that clean easily again, I'm not much of a Rolex fan, but I love that model
That vintage sub is so beautiful, you just can’t beat the look of that watch , I have a birth year Rolex Explorer, cough cough 1970 , showing my age and a classic Porsche 911 and you cannot beat old classics together
Its ok.. We are having a change of the Nike CEO. Better times ahead
That is a combo on point. Congrats, you’re winning sir.
“Olive Garden” dig was so funny.
For 22 minutes and 46 seconds, all will be right in the world 🎉
yes, i feel happy when i watch his videos
🤷🤣
get a grip
Wow, that’s exactly how I felt!
So true...
Tgv is my watch teacher.
"Sometimes the old ways are the best ways". Very nice nod to Bond in Skyfall.
Hoping for the best, man.
Hope all is well brother
I think TGV said in a recent video one cannot describe one’s self as a gentlemen so with that I will describe you as one.
Thanks
Jingly jangly, no date, vintage subby? Grab it! The historicity, the associations, the rarity! What a treasure!
The 5512 inspired me to buy my 14060m Submariner. Steve McQueen really made the 5512 look KOOL! awesome video brotha 👌
Steve McQueen made dying look cool.
Haven't watched for a while. Was one of his first subscribers, and I must say TGV never fails to impress.
That Rolex is a one time opportunity which I wouldn't miss. A true enthusiasts watch.
Agree 100% the new Navi is much nicer than the old one. The explore is amazing!

Completely agree with you on the Breitling logo. They should have at least kept it on their pilot's watches.
Haven't watched a full video by TGV in a while....haven't had the time, but I really enjoyed this. Love that you stay true to your style and self. A great sunday morning watch. Those Navitimers take me back to being a kid and thinking that's the only watch for me. They seemed unattainable at the time.
That clip from Mad Men is the best in the show. The carousel. Fabulous, and well chosen here.
Ciao Tristano, ma lo Squale viola con il tuo simbolo che è all’inizio dei tuoi video è un fotomontaggio oppure esiste davvero? , è veramente bello 😍
I always regret getting rid of my 5513. Would have preferred the 5512 but didn't have the money as I was a young man. One things for sure these watches are getting really rare especially a good one. I would go with my gut feeling and snap it up. You won't loose money.

I know what you mean! I have to wear glasses to see my watch; the main reason I wear glasses! Beautiful 5512!
I could be wrong, but that crystal MAKES that Rolex!!!
I’m so glad to hear that you’re back!
That 5512 is very special indeed - and most definitely a keeper I'd add it to my collection if I were you. Cheers!
Congrats on the navitamer. So good to see someone still has love for flying B🖤
Ciao Tristano, grazie mille per lo splendido video. Sia il Rolex 5512 che il Breitling Navitimer sono due icone. L'hai già detto nel video: la vita è breve e bisogna godertela. Just got those NB Tektrels seen on the video and they are truly great. Price is even better. Thanks for sharing!
Watching at 12:00am. TGV, this episode has a similar vibe to your earlier shows. That Sub is glorious!
Love the 5512! That is a lifetime keeper!❤
I can only dream of owning an Explorer, let alone anything else you have. If given the chance, however, I would go for the Navitimer. Whatever you choose, we're behind you all the way!
The music at the beginning of the video reminds me of 80s Italian horror films and that’s a good thing.
What’s the name of glasses that you are wearing during your video?
I own the exact same reference of Navitimer- a black A23322. IMO it's the best Navitimer made - perfectly proportioned, easy to service movement and the best Navi dial lay out. Mine keeps to within 1 second a day
TGV admitting to his purchases at the start of the video is priceless! Definitely still affected by the collecting disease.
Dude, the 5512 is something special and you don't see it in that condition every day. Don't let that one slip thru your fingers!!!
Congrats on the new Navitimer! My gut feeling, as wonderful as the 5512 is, I think it’s best if you kept steaming ahead to the grail and not buy the Sub. Again. Just my opinion. New Balance? Finally. I love getting these notifications that TGV has posted.. 😎😎😎😎😎
Ciao TGV! Thank you for another great and comprehensive video! 🤗
Wow it’s really nice to see Alix from talking timepieces. Such a underrated watch channel.
Nice! I've been picking up some vintage seiko's lately. Great review as always
Depends on how you define the Sub… Is it a NEED, or a WANT? If you answered with the latter, I’d resist the temptation and move on. There will ALWAYS be another out there somewhere - especially when you’re actually on the hunt for that model specifically.
Let it go. The Tudor is the one. Love the Navi. Great show. 👏🏼👏🏼
100% buy the 5512, so iconic, so beautiful to look at. And at the very worst you know you can get out of it easily
Such a nice thumbnail!😂 Nailed it man!
love the new balance. Brought me back to your earlier videos on sneakers, sweatsuits, etc. Do you recommend a brand for slides?
Your old A23322 made me fall in love with watches and I actually just got a blue dial version recently. Thanks for all you do
Wow, congrats and thank you. I really almost to get the blue again, but I just could not pass up this mint example. What's crazy is I was close to paying a grand more just to get that color again, crazy, but I get it. Enjoy your A23322. Thank you, 😎🥂
Best regards,
TGV
Welcome to the reading glasses club! I learned to appreciate the cyclops on my 16610.

Love the navitimer. What do you think of the Sinn 903? Navitimer for a more reasonable price?
I love the 903 and you get 100m WR. I really don't know why the Breitling Navitimer is still only 30m wr
the 5512 is stunning! Congratulations
So funny, Tristano: just last night, I bought a Seiko SARW025 (Laurel tribute) via the 'Bay, and looked up your old video reviewing it afterward. Know the territory well, Brutalist buildings and all, and seriously glad you're back.
Love the beginning music. A Little 70s detective tv show vibes. Lol
"che schifo" 🤣 wasn't expecting that, but made me laugh out loud. Congrats on the Navitimer.
ciao amico!
IMO get the 5512 (even if the condition wasn’t exceptional) and don’t give up the Explorer (it’s an integral part of your professional and passion DNA) hope to cross paths one day in nyc.
That consolidation move sounds brilliant to me.
I'm glad your taste in watches isn't as garish as your taste in sneakers LOL.
Savage 😂
I’d say two tone watches are pretty garish.
Well done , mister Bond , love. The presentation! Keep up the good work sir! Cheers!
A bit of a "This is Antwon" at the beginning, nice. I knew you had taste!
I clicked for the 5512 story.
Ma quanto è bello il breitling navitimer con il vecchio e leggendario logo 🔝👍💪✌️
Buy it man!! 100% Awesome timepiece to own given its vintage patina, especially in that great condition. Hope you get it
Hey TGV, thank you for this insight - loved the iceberg! Great that you still remain independent and open minded 🧡 Cheers from Bremen, Germany
I never knew you liked sneakers, and that Sybmariner reference is real beauty, very classic and has a very purposeful tool design.
That would be amazing.
I would love that, I look forward to meeting you one day.
Thank you Alex,
Best as always,
T.
TGV, another very enjoyable video. Good health to wear.
Salutation’s from Belfast Northern Ireland 🇬🇧
Well, the grail can always be delayed and pushed further into the future, this crossing of paths with the 5512 is a first and a pure emotion, only need check the condition inside the oil etc. also it won't be daily wear, it might just sit for sometime
Might be in the minority , but, I much prefer the Brietling as a watch. Would love to know your thoughts on the new Sinn 903?
Get the 5512. According to Eric Wind market has picked up on them. Solid purchase IMHO.
UrbanGentry have you ever covered Baume et Mercier? Would love to see a review on the Riviera or Clifton.
Great and inspiring video TGV! Get the Rolex because the opportunity of this kind comes once in life! Pull the trigger and you will not regret it.. looking forward to your next video!
