As someone who has been playing in chess tournaments since age 5 I am very triggered by the fact that people are talking during the games 😁 Congrats on your first tournament win!
Talking during a tournament is extremely disrespectful to not only you and your opponent, but to everyone else around you. Also could be seen as cheating in some cases.
In January 2023 I played my 2nd or 3rd tournament of my life and after wining 5 rounds in a row I was paired against the 2nd (at that time) Top Rated player of my country (Pakistan). He was a 2200 Fide rated FM I was only like 1900 on Lichess but luckily I beat him in just 14 moves and I got to know that the previous uncle that I had beaten before him was a National Master with a FIDE rating of 1800. I was so happy that day I couldn't believe myself and I also got the motivation to pursue my chess career
yeah this seems to happen a lot (not trying to diminish your accomplishment ofc) but my grandpa is around 400 Elo higher than me and I've beat him multiple times and I got a draw with a person 700 rated above me its probably the higher rated player underestimating the underdog
@@lorcha1237 that's in fact stronger player underestimating weaker. It happens not only in chess, but also in other games where so called ranking system works. Better players start to 'style' on weaker, which means they play non-efficient and that highers the chances of the weaker player to win. It happens so freaquently, that it's really boring to underestimate and style on the weaker player anymore. I would prefer to crush them even harder, but I'm not any good at chess.
This video captures the atmosphere of a tournament so well! It's not just about the game, it's about the community that you have fun with. I love this video so much 💗
I got recommended your video. Actually great content! Amazing editing and amazing storytelling! Especially with the limited resources you have in terms of filming gear. I graduated film school recently and I see great potential if you choose to continue developing your skils. Looking forward to more content from you.
@@Sotolomus Probably true, I am 1000 rapid and 500 blitz even though I play them pretty evenly. I know blitz has better players but I make one move blunders like five times more often in blitz than in rapid
As a 1500 rated, you had better moves, u even had a tactic to win the queen, but honestly that was pretty good stuff for a 500 elo, chess asmr works everytime
I was the top rated player at my high school in the 1500-1600 range, but I had an arch-rival (but also good friend who I traveled to several tournaments with) that went to another school in the 1800 range who I never managed to beat. He could play blindfolded too! My biggest upset was when I beat a player rated 2071 at a rating of 1520. He played a Grunfeld defense, which gives you an idea of how dangerous that defense is for black.
I can tell you from experience that no 1200 players play like that. What are the chances that a low intermediate player hangs both bishops and both rooks in a single game?
Yupp..the bio of this channel is veryy correct..''i make the best quality content'' bro i legit thought u have like a million subs from the quality, ma mann gonna reach the peaksss keep up the good workk!!

That’s what I’m saying. Maybe he hasn’t played a lot of OTB games? It was like he was literally letting the other dude win. He didn’t try to do anything at all, and missed opportunities that were minimum equalizing.
At least hit the clock with your right hand! That's why it's on the left. To slightly equalize black's disadvantage... Hey but saying: "look at this, chat!" Is a pretty good start at a beginning Hikaru :)
at 6:31 you could have captured with knight on e5 using the discovered check to attack the queen instead of the rook. amazing video anyway :) I just seen that as I was watching!
Thanks for your kind comment! In all honesty, I didn't see that, but either way I think I made the better decision. Taking the queen then losing my knight is a net +6 trade, but taking the rook and bishop was a +8.
@@ruderdk that's surprising, well played! Your video was great mate. I'm from Scotland and it was recommended to me so it has definitely been picked up by the algorithm. Quality over quantity 🔥
Ok you seem to know every body in the comment section, so here I am, a random dude from France. The algorithm started to take your video places dude. It started to go viral, congrats. Nice content. It's cool to that your schools in the US value chess, it's not the same here in Europe. Can you tell me your real rarings btw? I strongly doubt this guy is 1200 😂. Or you being only 500. I am 1200 and I can easily beat 600s with no queen...
Considering the quality of vid and content, HIGHLY UNDERRATED Also, is he(opponent) really THAT good? Also would have appreciated a screen showing the board
It's good to see new, bright, young talent. There is one thing you need to change though. The USCF rules state that you need to use the same hand to move the piece and operate the clock. It would be a good habit to form at this point in your chess career. Good luck!
Keep documenting the highlights of ur high school career in this format (kinda like the RUclipsr anthpo) as makes for great content and you’ll be glad u did looking back on it later on
