Not surprised that the Triton smashed them all. I’m a proud owner of my 2016 Triton. It’s funny down hear in Australia the motoring press are always trying to downplay the Tritons performance but you guys have proven it once and for all how quick it really is. I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that the Triton is going to dish up more surprises! Especially if they properly test stability and traction control and off road systems..
Mitsubishi had a Colt which was a nice bakkie and the people got used to the name n it had presence, however they decided to ditch the name and that was their downfall, look all the bakkies on the list, they haven't changed names

I felt that power of the Triton long ago when the facelift came out with. Surprisingly quick. I had a Fiat Fullback 2.5 at the time. Also quite lively.
Power to weight ratio is the key thing here. Triton is a bit lighter and a bit nimbler. Also, if the super select transfer case was in 4H, it would have had all the traction needed to leap out of the blocks. That said, the Ranger and Amarok do come with a 3.0L V6 Diesel. Those would absolutely annihilate the competition, Triton included. I've always felt that the Triton is the most sensible pick up/ute/bakkie to buy. It does all what is needed and where it falls short, it's only minimal.
I have/had(long story) a 2020 Epic Fortuner 4x4 I was driving on the A1 doing not so legal 170km/h clock speed and a Pajero sport overtook me and I thought let me give him hell, I topped out and couldn't catch him I eventually gave up in disbelief...

Triton definitely has the most modern engine the only diesel with variable valve timing and that aisin 8 speed is sweet. Definitely would love to see a drag race with fully loaded trailers the 10 speed from ford and amarok will definitely shine😁
Still would like to see a Mahindra Karoo and JAC T6/T8 in coming shootouts, seeing a lot more of them on the road. Overall definitely did not expect that Triton to take the win
