    Every night for the last two months I fall asleep watching the Spanish TV channels. I watch Spanish comedies, sitcoms, and the news until I fall asleep. In the morning I watch the Spanish news channel before work. On my way to work I listen to a Spanish radio station. My goal was to hear the language and start identifying the individual words and phrases. Little by little I am beginning to hear the spoken words and phrases of Spanish speakers, which is helping me to understand the language, and how it is spoken.

    • @SpanishandGo
      @SpanishandGo  4 года назад +46

      Absorbing the language is great for many reasons! Good for you for being so dedicated. I love listening to podcasts in Spanish. We just started getting hooked on Casa de Papel too. Have you you seen it? Un saludo. -Jim

    • @MrMajikman1
      @MrMajikman1 3 года назад +33

      @@pharoah2x880 Well I can tell you this. The more I listen to the Spanish language, the more I can hear the individual words as they are spoken. I am not yet proficient in the language, but at least now I hear the individual words. I did this so that I could hear Spanish speakers in their truest form of speaking. It definitely helps.

      @@MrMajikman1 Do you watch them with subtitles? Spanish is very easy for an English speaker to learn with subtitles but requires too much time to learn without the subs.

    • @MrMajikman1
      @MrMajikman1 3 года назад +7

      @@awesomebearaudiobooks I do not watch them with subtitles. For me, I found it too hard to listen to and identify the words, if I was trying to read the subtitles at the same time. But, that may work for others.

    My suggestion for all learners: Learn in as many ways as possible. Duolingo taught me things Spanish speakers couldn't (at least with their level of English), and speaking Spanish every day with my coworkers taught me things Duolingo never did. Now I'm learning phrases from this video that I hear but never caught an understanding when overhearing coworkers. I also form sentences in Spanish when I'm thinking of anything. The words I don't know I look up, or I find a way to say the meaning of the sentence. Surround and emerse yourself!!

    This has been the best video for me to learn Spanish audibly. 1) The speaker says the phrase once and I challenge myself to pick out each of the words and if I know them. 2) Then she translates it to English. 3) Next she repeats the phrase, slowly, so I can grasp the pronunciation of each word. 4) Then she says it again at conversational speed. By saying the phrase three times, this helps me to hear the words, learn each pronunciation and then allows me to repeat it to get my mouth familiar with the words and rate of speaking. I’m so impressed with this recording. Thank you to the producers! This has been my favorite learning tool, and I have them all, LOL.
    I also listen to it right before and during sleep. I don’t think that I’m going to magically learn a new language by doing this. But I’ve read research on the power of the subconscious brain, especially while sleeping, so I’m giving myself exposure at every opportunity!

      The ad policy CAN NOT be definite for every content creator. I use Thomas Hall most nights for his amazing subliminals - they DO NOT have commercials at all. It’s all good - we appreciate your content but this could be re-titled so it’s a daytime listen. You have 500k views so there you have it. Seems like a successful business model. 😎🥸📚🤷🏾‍♂️

    Hey guys! Great video! I put it halfway through, every night because I know the first half of the words.
    I heard the movie, “Pan’s Labyrinth” is phenomenal movie to watch when learning.
    What do guys think of doing a review video that focuses on what level (A1 through B2) would this movie score?
    How about a video list of great Spanish movies to watch AND great movies to watch in Spanish?
    Because the last movies list that came up on RUclips search was from 2017.
    I would love another video on the breakdown of the Spanish in that movie, “Pan’s Labyrinth”, because it would allow to know only what is being said but why that word was chosen, also what up-to-date words that would be more common in today’s Spanish language.
    I believe you have already did a video on the most neutral Spanish dialect/accent, but I heard the Spanish from Guatemala and Mexico was deemed the most EASIEST for native English speakers to learn. I would love your opinion on this. Thanks again!🙏

    Damn. for some reason I thought it said ''Learn Chinese While You Sleep''. I didn't expect a ''Learn Spanish'' in my recommendation because I wasn't learning any Spanish for many months.

    I wish somebody would just come out with a broken Spanish. The absolute most simple way of saying things in which people will understand what you're asking. Simplified broken Spanish lessons is what I think would be helpful for me

      Easy, just study the top 500 most common words in Spanish and don’t conjugate any of them when trying to have a conversation with someone. ¿Me entender, hombre? 😆

      We actually discussed a couple of studies that demonstrated that it can work to some degree. You can see that video and read the article with sources here: spanishandgo.com/learn/spanish-while-you-sleep
      Now is this my go-to technique for learning a language? No. But we thought it would be a fun experiment for people to try. -Jim

      It does not work to any degree. They don't understand how the brain processes and retains information, and if they did understand, that would mean they are blatantly lying.
      Your mind is already processing the information received during your waking hours.
      If people learn Spanish, it is because their brain is processing what they hear while awake.
      Your mind CANNOT process information it is not paying attention to.
