I'm sorry, am I really the only one who thinks that second shot was WILDLY irresponsible? If you shot that 100 times I'd bet that ends up with a wounded, never-recovered bull waaaaay more often than a dead one. The first hunt was great, more videos like that, please, but oh my word do not be posting stuff like that second one as if it were a good idea. I mean, he got lucky and nailed it, but there is no way anyone should be flinging arrows towards elk 100 yards away who aren't even broadside!
Thanks for watching! I understand the “what if’s” but this shot on this bull worked out perfectly. If you watch much elk hunting at all you have seen people not recover them when they was shot within 50 yards broadside due to a bad shot. So regardless if I agree or disagree at the risk of the shot that was taken in a given situation, as long as the animal is recovered if the shot was lethal is the most important thing, in this case it was lethal and the bull dies in just yards from where he was shot. Thanks for taking the time to to watch and comment.
Yeah we all flipped out when we seen the footage, he shoots ASA competition and practices hours every day but it’s an amazing shot no matter who took it.
"I had all three pins on him...I figured it had to be good" HAHAHAHA!!! Incredible frontal at 102 yards. That's what hours and hours of practice and confidence will do for you. Great work!
We told a “sponsor” look if you don’t like killing we ain’t your guys 😂😂. No we was just hunters way before we started recording our stuff, I think a lot of people do it for the video and then learn to hunt.
@@UnGuidedOutdoors I know u are insanely great hunters, I might only be fourteen, and only killed 1 bull elk with my bull and 99.9999% luck but I know it will take a long time to get the balls to even try a frontal shot soo u guys are better then I’ll ever be
Dude you are already way ahead of us! We didn’t kill an elk until we was in our 20s. And no way we ain’t even close to the best, the born and raised guys, and Corey Jacobson are for sure some of the best. Thanks for the compliment though bud!
No he was just quarter to him more than broadside, we talk about it in that video but he squared that bull in the shoulder blade, got virtually no penetration. Seen what they thought was the same bull later on that week, we felt confident the bull was ok beside a sore shoulder. We ain’t ever seen one die from getting hit in the shoulder blade, that’s why he kept hunting.
@@UnGuidedOutdoors You can't honestly be 100% sure about that . I've seen them make it yes but I've also seen them die from a infection late in the year. its 50 / 50. I remember when you guys started doing videos they showed grit and respect for the elk, you only took shoots that where more ethically sound. Seems this year it has changed but that's just my view and you guys also asked to be called out on it. Seems you're just trying to get it on video. Could be wrong but something to think about.
Well I got proof that we haven’t changed and it’s this. We could have been like every other RUclips hunting channel, tv show and just not show you the video of Ben hitting the one in the shoulder. We actually talked about it, but we all agreed that anyone that has experience bowhunting had been in that situation before. I promise you would be blown away by the amount “ hunting shows” don’t show you. Dude we are hunters, we have been freaking out and acting this way since day one. Go back to our first elk season on here, Ben go so excited he started throwing up 😂. When Kyle and Ryan shot the bull in NM both of them was just freakin out, we get excited and if you are noticing something different in our videos it’s just because we are leaving the camera recording more capturing more. Ryan is also editing less out of the videos because that’s what people have requested. I totally get we might be to raw for some people and I 100% respect your opinion, and thanks for giving it. Far as not taking shots, go watch the whitetail series last year, Ryan shot a deer in the shoulder that was quartering to him and we didn’t find it but chose to still show it. In the very first episode we posted of an elk kill, Ben shoots a bull 3 times the 1st being at 60yrds quartering way away, the 2nd video we ever posted of a bull getting shot Ryan shot one in the throat (frontal). I have seen a lot of elk get shot and have yet to be there where the situation was just perfect, that’s why we practice all year long. That elk hunt cost us 3k each, we all have jobs and families that eat elk meat all year, to not tag out means way more than not getting video. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@UnGuidedOutdoors my reply would be this ... I wouldn’t want you to be like all the other videos and people flinging arrows... taking shots that are questionable “In my experience “. I would hold you above reproach and not classify you as the general archery hunter ... do we make bad shots yes it happens by should we display it and say oh it happens?? I don’t believe so ... it shows disrespect to you and the elk you’re hunting.. I wish more people would realize this. 100 if not 100000 of people watch this and the go by you example if you show them it’s ok to shot and loose a bull then that’s what they will do. Just food for thought... I think most you guys are good people. Just remember perception is 99% reality .....
He had been practicing way past 100 all year, and if you listen the other guy cow called the second he shot to keep the bull from moving. We all flipped out when we seen the footage. Thanks for watching and commenting, really helps our channel.
Y'All got it done, that's for sure.! Some nice bulls you pulled out of there. I'm personally not a fan of that 102 yard, frontal shot. I think it was luck that it was a kill shot, but it got the job done this time. Keep 'em comin, fun videos..!
And this video right here showed up on my home page and just like that y'all gotta nother sub great video awesome bulls all the way around I'm glad someone had a great season
I have enjoyed your videos, but I'm not personally a fan of the 100 yd quarting to shot. I'm glad he got a quick humane kill, but he was very, very lucky. I think not acknowledging this is kind of irresponsible since kids might be watching and think it's an ethical shot to take. Just my opinion. Nice work getting it done DIY on public land and love the enthusiasm!
The elk died within eye sight. I'd say he made a clean ethical shot. Personal morals on shot distance don't define another person's ethics. Idk how kids watching this video has to do with anything they did. Teaching kids that people should only hunt the way you do, or to only take the shots you're "a fan of" could just as easily be viewed as irresponsible.
@@bmills231 The vitals available on that shot are a little bigger than a softball with a bow, which he hit. If he can hit a softball all day at 100 yds than I'd say that's an ethical shot. Watched the same guy take a similar quarting to shot at 25 yards and hit the bull in the shoulder and lost him which sucks. The odds of hitting heavy bone and just wounding, or worse and only clipping one lung or liver are the much higher likelihood on this shot. The lung liver are fatal but usually take a couple hours to kill often lead to tough recoveries or lost animals unless you play your cards right and are good a good tracker. I don't know a single archery elk hunter who would recommend or call that a high percentage or ethical shot. Teaching kids to respect the animals they hunt by taking shots that offer a high likelihood of a quick clean kill I see as being a responsible sportsman and a good mentor. Do you not agree?
The vitals are a lot bigger than a softball on frontal shots, when Ben shot the one in the shoulder blade he hugged the shoulder like a whitetail which you can not do on elk. We knew this shot would cause controversy, but the bull died with in 50 yards so it was a clean kill. Would I recommend someone taking this shot? No, but neither do I think people should shoot them at 500 yards with a rifle and yet as long as it’s a clean kill I can live with it. I will say this and it’s our fault we are so transparent, probably comes from the fact we have been hunting long before we was filming but you would be blown away by the amount of “shows” that lie about the distance of a kill shot. They claim wayyyy closer than it was so they don’t get people upset in the comments. You would also be surprised at the amount of content people leave out that we choose to show. I won’t lie to you and act like we are some super non human dudes, we are transparent and show the good and bad. We ain’t actors like a lot of people, we are literally some blue collar dudes that have been hunting for years that started carrying a camera. If you want to see pretty, polished, everything made to please everyone, we probably ain’t going to live up to that. I’m not saying all that to justify anything, I’m just saying Ben took the shot, he killed the bull, obviously hit exactly what here he was aiming, the bull expires in 50 yards, we chose to show it, don’t know what else to say.
I agree with that, certainly. I'm not even saying it's a shot I personally would take. That doesn't mean it wasn't ethical. My opinion, your opinion and either of our skill sets don't and should not define another hunter's ethics. That's all I'm saying. He was confident the opportunity presented and capitalized on it. The elk died within sight. There are plenty of ways this could be explained to a kid without simply saying this was a lucky irresponsible shot. To each their own I guess.
I'm sorry, am I really the only one who thinks that second shot was WILDLY irresponsible? If you shot that 100 times I'd bet that ends up with a wounded, never-recovered bull waaaaay more often than a dead one.
