This song is definitely one of my favorites. Her transition from that ambient vocal to punch in your throat screams then back to clean vocals... just pure talent! Like no effort at all. She is becoming one of my favorite screamers. So underrated, in my opinion.
Mate your fucking reactions are the so spot on! I’m 30 years old, lifetime metal head and this stuff still gets me choked up and pumped at the same time, thanks for being real✌️
Great reaction, as usual. Put "Rule of Nines" the One Take version on your to-do list. You'll not just see Courtney do her thing straight away but get a sense of her personality as well.
Courtney seems like such a cool person and is down to get silly with it even while sounding like her body is a flesh and bone Ouija board summoning Satan
The flip from the soft vocals and the fembot persona before the breakdown, is why I think the heavy part works so well in this song. Pretty clean vocals with deadpan delivery, then just rage.
*12:11AM in ON, Canada* Just 11 more hours. So stoked about this. From the look on your face, this definitely hits you right in the stan. Just ordered Crystal Lake x Spiritbox Team Black and Video shirts. Can't wait to get my hands on em 👊
I've watched your reaction to this before, and the og video umpteen times, but I'm watching your reaction again and laughing my ass at editing Tank's notes. Thanks for the giggles Tank.
I'm an old metal head raised on outlaw country, bluegrass, and good ole rock n roll. That being said, Spirit Box blows me away. Never too old to dig on the new stuff. Hooah.
Spiritbox is definitely my favorite band of 2020 along with Jinjer, been huge into the female leads and crazy riffs, really awesome to see you like them too man, Belcarra is a huge one and you'll love it
Just came back around and watched this reaction again. This song, by itself, gives my chills all the way through. Watching it and listening to it with you is awesome. I love your reaction to it because I, pretty much, reacted the same way when I first saw it.
Spiritbox is fucking everything! Courtney's voice and lyrics... i mean i literally have no words for it. It makes me so emotional and every time i listen, even if ive listened to it numerous times, it gives me the goosebumps! ❤😢
Literally the most beautiful and incredible pieces of music and story telling i have ever seen. I cry from just the outpouring of utter meaning. And her tiny facial inflections when she changes. It's utterly terrifying she can look so different with just a glare. My new favorite band and moving towards my favorite ever.
So fucking glad I stumbled across your channel today & discovered a kickass band in the process. Had never heard of Spiritbox before I saw your reaction to Holy Roller. Definitely subscribed.
First off, I am so stoked about you and Chase and whatever surprise you two have for us! But man, this band...they are special. I've had the chorus to this song in my head for days, and I love the intensity of the lyrics and the video. Outstanding. Glad you're liking them!
It's been more than a week since I first heard this song, and I still can't get it out of my head. From time to time I find myself humming this tune, it's so damn catchy. Love Courtney's vocals here, the music, the video, the emotions, everything... Can't wait to see your reaction.
This band's artistic theme is contrast and spectrum, musically, emotionally and spiritually. This band is deep af and so genius, it sets them apart from many other artists in a way that is touching and relatable. Back to the topic about contrast. Lip syncing the screams in a contrasting way allows you to understand the contrast in a way not done very much in music, but done a lot in art. If you want to understand Spiritbox's artistic style, contrast is on the top of the list.
Its fun to watch people discover a band, especially one like Spiritbox. Your channel has quickly become one of my favorites, keep it up! - Belcarra, Bleach Bath and Mara Effect(1-3 live) next!! :)
Trust Fall is probably my favorite Spiritbox song. It's got so much beauty and raw emotion. The ending will give you goosebumps and leave you in awe of this band.
Wow. Never heard of Spiritbox until this review, but I had goosebumps through the video. Great job on all these reviews, and here’s to your continued success with this channel!
Watching you react to this brought me back to my emotional reaction that I get every time with this song. I relate to these lyrics on a deep level, and I think you feel that same emotion. It’s such a powerful song and the video is just amazing.
I liked this reaction a lot. I watched Chase’s first, then went and watched the official video for the Mara Effect (how can I not when my name is Mara?) then back to watch your reaction here. This band, I’m rather speechless at the moment. The bass lines and vibe are so up my alley. The overall sound is like a vacuum sucking me in. It scares me a little. Not sure what’s going on but I’m looking forward to more.
It's like they took all the serious parts of iwrestledabearonce and perfected it. It's amazing! And dude, you're someone I would get into one of those metal rabbit hole conversations with at shows! I love the reactions, the pop up facts, the humor, everything!
Nice reaction as always. I like this song, the melody and the atmosphere. I agree with you about the music, I think Spiritbox are an amazing musicians. But what I like the most are their clean parts. When they go screaming and all of that, yeah it's cool and maybe fits well with the song, but for some reason, I don't like it too much, but it's a personal taste, I know people who love that. But definitely, Spiritbox is a band to have in mind, I know they'll become bigger. Cheers dude!
Mr. Tank, you're very enjoyable to watch & listen to. :) Haha, I loooove seeing Courtney be so calm-like when the vocals are heavier. It adds an extra element of horror to what's going on visually. Crazy good! :))
I'm glad you liked the song/video, my dude. This band has very quickly found its way in my top 3 favorite artists of all time. They deserve to be way more popular than they are.
I first heard spiritbox about 2 months back. There was a quick clip of this chorus, no band name, no song name. I searched high and low to find who it was and I was not dissapointed for my efforts.
Hey Jeffrey! I always look for your comments when I go to a Jinjer reaction because you seem to know more about them than anyone and give some great insight into their songs...lol. You are with Jinjer reactions like Ann (Waychoff) was with Nightwish! (RIP sweet Ann). Happy to see you on the Spiritbox reaction circuit! 🤘😊
I only can totally agree with everything you said. Spiritbox is another level. They are creating pure art. They got my new favorite band like instantly after listening to a few songs. I've discovered them about a year ago and the first song I've heard by them was "Bleach Bath". Still one of favorites. They all got my favorites. Since then there wasn't a single they without Spiritbox for me. Their style is so diverse, it just doesn't get boring to listen to all of their songs, every single song is packed with little details. I'm always amazed again and again. Really enjoyed all of your Spiritbox reaction videos! Keep em' coming!
Love going back and seeing peoples reactions to Spiritbox. Big fan of the channel of love your reactions. Spiritbox has done little references to horror movies! The part when the guy has the tube taped to his mouth along with holy roller flower crown is from midsommer
Spiritbox never disappoints! Anxious to see you continue to discover their work! I'd suggest checking out The Mara Effect at Silverside Sound. It encompasses all 3 parts in one studio performance, and is an amazing experience if you got time for the longer video. Cheers!
Enjoyed the reaction and I think your analysis of the songs meaning from your pop-up is spot on. That's how I interpreted it anyway. Also in the video I think the gruesome parts of her killing him are meant to represent her daydreaming about killing him since you see him in the background of the doorway at the end
Digging your reactions, Tank. I just got heavy into Spiritbox over the past month and wanted to see some reactions and yours come with so much enthusiasm, something typically scarce I’ve found. You’ve got a new subscriber, can’t wait to see what else you have lined up.
Thanks a ton! I definitely need to listen to more Sepultura. I honestly haven't listened to them at all since Max left, and we all know how long ago that was. Haha
This song can be associated with 50s house wives forced by their husband's to take medications either due to depression or other things. A lot of women at that time were sent against their will to an asylum or sanatorium on a whim of they did something distasteful around or toward their husband or his associates.
i see it like this ,as to the part about not seeing her screaming alot...i think thats because its the emotional side of her brain that you dont physically ''see''... i love them so much ...
Love This Song!!! Courtney, Tatiana from jinjer, Angela: former arch enemy vocalist & Nicol from stellaris have got the most hard hitting growls i've ever witnessed of lead metal female artist as there absolutely beyond talented being my most #1 favorites. 🎸⚡⚡⚡
Man this band is so rad, I loved IWABO with Krysta and Courtney sooo much, I was very sad they didn’t do anything in a while but then I got to see the one take of rule of nines and they just became my new favorite band! Love your videos and your music taste, you should definitely listen to more emmure haha love them. The same with crystal lake got to see them twice live and they’re just amazing. Keep on sharing new music :) 👏🏻
Look at her "Playthrough" live take! She nearly always looks bored when screaming like the devil... she is a beast! Her contorl is out of this world and second only to Tatiana because she can go much lower and darker like a 300 pound guy! ^^
Yeah, I need to check out that one take video soon. Haha. And yes, Tati has way more guttural control than a lot of other metal singers. She reminds me of Randy Blythe when I watched them live. Similar vocal tone.
@@TankTheTech If I here Tatianas Growls I envision a 300 pound guy who is working the door at my local disco... that is freaking amazing! But nonetheless (is it in one word?) Suuuuuuper stoked that you and Chase Carneson have been chatting, you two are top-tier reactors for me already. I was already aware of Spiritbox by the time this single dropped, but if I hadn't been I can say with confidence that it would have turned me into an instant fan. It's such a sick track, and really shows off all (or a lot, anyway) of the different strengths of the band. Stay sexy bro. EDIT: Re thematic content, from what I understand Courtney has said that both the lyrical content and video are inspired by The Handmaid's Tale
Yeah, I just got into Spiritbox recently myself. I haven't run into a bad song from what I can tell thusfar. They definitely have my attention! I'm looking forward to future releases, as this style of music is right up my alley! Only other band I can realistically compare these guys to is Jinjer, and that's honestly not really a fair comparison. I want to see a Jinjer/Spiritbox concert! That would rule all kinds of ass! I just can't wait until you hear "Sit, Stay, Roll Over" by Jinjer. I don't think you'll be able to pick your jaw up off the floor!
I'd happily pay to see Spiritbox and Jinjer in concert!

Retrospection is another good one from Jinjer .. and an old one I love is "No hoard of value", but they have soooo many good songs, like "Pit of Conciousness", "Judgement (and punishment)", "Who's gonna be the one (live)", a lot of them....
To me this band is something like a cross between Tesseract (grooves, atmosphere), Jinjer (heaviness, vocal approach) and some melodeath bands like Be’lakor or Amorphis. In my books, any band worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as any one of the aforementioned bands is one to watch.
@@TankTheTech Seeing them both at the same time would be unbelievable! I've already been to see Jinjer, and they don't disappoint! I'm new to Spiritbox, so that would be a bonus to see them along with Jinjer!. I was introduced to them on Chase' channel. Blessed Be has now taken over Rule of Nines as far as my new "I can't get this tune out of my head," which if you are going to have an ear worm sticking with you all day, then this would be the one you would want to have..lol! Have a great day, and greetings from Tennessee! 🤘☮💗
Belcarra is a great song to do next, a real face melter lol. Also a great creepy type video that you'll enjoy. You can't go wrong with some of their "older" stuff like Electric Cross or one of my favorites, Trust Fall.
Tank~ Great take. I think I thought the same. Didn't really catch the darkness until about mid way in and then the whole thing just compounded. ---------- I want to make a few recommendations. Jinjer...Teacher, Teacher and Jinjer Who is Gonna be the One. And also Heilung - Krigsgaldr (Live). I am WILDLY interested to see what you think of the Viking/Norse stuff. It's totally different...but I saw them live and I was moved. --------------- You've been a very refreshinng, informative, and quality person with the reactions.
I love the Viking/Norse sound, so I'm sure I'll love it. And I'm definitely gonna be doing more Jinjer soon. Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm thoroughly enjoying doing the videos, and equally talking with and getting to know all of you!
Just started watching today and worked my way through.. pretty much all your stuff. Lovin it. I hope to see more Jinjer/Nightwish, two of my favorite bands, but for something different you should check out Wagakki Band, either Senbonzakura or Homura. More Japanese rock, but with traditional instruments thrown in. SUPER anime.
Wagakki Band has been suggested so much that I definitely wanna get to them this week. And Nightwish Wednesday is now a thing, so each week on Wednesday I'm gonna continue my Nightwish journey! More Jinjer eventually as well!
Another band who's female fronted I'm addicted to is Sumo Cyco, another Canadian band with really fun songs! Highly recommend No surrender or Bystander.
I'm glad you checked it out + enjoyed! This song is fantastic, the first one I heard from them! Definitely check out their songs "Belcarra" + "Trustfall"! I also hope you check out the Japanese metalcore band Earthists. + their new song "SUNBLOOD"! I'm sure you have plenty of requests, so I'm not expecting to see it anytime soon lol, I'm patient! I always enjoy the content! 👍👍🤘🤘
Avienne front of Vintersea her vocals are both beautiful and brutal she is a siren, check out Illuminated ( a good place to start) The Host, Befallen and Fiery Tongue
"Take me on a ride." is my motto for every Spiritbox song.
Belcarra is a must. It’s the song that got me into them.
What he said!! ☝🏻
Figured I'd be late to the party but yes I recommend this one and I'll do another suggestion, Electric Cross!
Me too
Becarra is must listen for spiritbox fans

When she starts screaming in this song, it's like the turn of cheek, where you find the sinister side of sick obsession. Such a brilliant band.

Same. Watched it two nights ago and now it's drilled in my head. It was a fun one!
This band's artistic theme is contrast and spectrum, musically, emotionally and spiritually. This band is deep af and so genius, it sets them apart from many other artists in a way that is touching and relatable. Back to the topic about contrast. EDIT: Re thematic content, from what I understand Courtney has said that both the lyrical content and video are inspired by The Handmaid's Tale
I think I saw a couple people mention that in the live chat. That's wild. Thanks!
I agree, Chase and Tank are my fav too! :)
Yay Tennessee! I'm in Nashville. 😎
Belcarra is a great song to do next, a real face melter lol. Also a great creepy type video that you'll enjoy. You can't go wrong with some of their "older" stuff like Electric Cross or one of my favorites, Trust Fall.
Awesome! Thank you!
Singing the screams. Reminds me of Jon Mess from Dance Gavin Dance. Highly recommended btw.
Already mentioned it but the Mara Effect live playthrough(all three parts) will give you plenty of content to drool over.
hell yeah man i hear whistle blower playing in the back. my fav VOM song...... +1 SUB
🤘🤘🤘 Whistleblower is my favorite of theirs too.
well done. looking forward to tomorrow =)
Thanks man!
I've seen a couple recommendations for Earthists, so I'll for sure check it out! Thanks, Joe!
@@TankTheTech Glad to hear! They're Japanese but they perform in English, so captions are an option. 👍🤘
I just learned/realized that he is there at the end in the doorway behind the glass...thought that was creepy lol
Part of the reason could be with the growth on her vocal chords. Don’t know for sure, but I’ll ask Mike next time I talk to him.
Avienne front of Vintersea her vocals are both beautiful and brutal she is a siren, check out Illuminated ( a good place to start) The Host, Befallen and Fiery Tongue
The Gravity Of Fall
@@ChrisPage68 and Skies set ablaze such a good band :)
That is one of the nastiest breakdowns of any song
